Beautiful store that's well staffed with friendly and attentive employees, the store is very clean, organized and well stocked something I've been accustomed to shopping at Publix no matter the location. My interaction at the deli counter was a good one very sanitary and quick service even though their "pull a number" dispenser was empty everyone respected the next one in line. The produce here is exceptional and was continuously being restocked during my visit as were the meat coolers. I personally think the prices here are fair especially if you consider the quailty - my cashier was friendly and efficient and with the store being filled with customers I opted to bag my own groceries and she seem to appreciate the help. Placed and order pickup for a sub and when I arrived they were completely backed up with none of the orders done. I quickly got in line to order instead of waiting for the pickup. After waiting about 10 minutes Jonathan came and started to help and made the lady before me, and my sub extremely quickly and efficiently. Shoutout to him! Thanks for the speed and urgency. Sometimes employees don't take into account that customers are in a rush and purposefully placed it ahead of time. I ordered it to be ready at 1:10 and left the store at 1:26. Terrible terrible customer service at the deli its the 6th time i have had to wait 20 minutes for a flipping sandwich i went to get a sandwich I waited exactly 22 minutes while there was many workers in back and neither helped me i dont know if its because my money isn't worth anything but its the 6th time this has happened to me i went to work with an empty stomach. Well, this is the Publix that proves Publix isn't perfect! I've been shopping at Publix exclusively for 20 years. Yes, you pay a little more but I've always thought it was worth the exceptionally clean stores and friendly service. This store has neither. From the elderly pharmacist who barely looked at me when she shouted "we don't do that after 8pm" to the check out clerk who never said hello, asked me if I found everything I needed or thanked me, service was non existent. Of course there was no bagger. The store wasn't busy except for the staff seemingly more focused on cleaning activities than serving customers. It wasn't near closing time, it was 8:12pm. I suppose it's good they were cleaning before the floor was littered with trash and dust/dirt. The only positive was the pharmacy tech who was pleasant but couldn't do much with Cruela as her boss. Overall, store employees are either poorly managed, poorly trained or both. In the future, I'll pass by this Publix on my way to the Vilano store. This one is working it's way towards becoming a Winn Dixie. read more

We were visiting Saint Augustine one weekend and needed to pick up a few things for a picnic. We entered the store, it looked very familiar, just like every other Publix. Familiarity does bring comfort, corporate America knows this. We picked up some sodas, some desserts, and we were looking for a Styrofoam cooler. Could not locate it. A cashier actually shut down her register and walked with us looking for it, also the bag boy that was assigned to her did same thing. He was going down another aisle. After a few minutes we located our Styrofoam cooler, paid, and went on our way. As always, the customer service in a Publix is the best. You may pay just a little bit more to shop there, but it is worth it. This will be my go to Publix next time I am in Saint Augustine. read more

I have shopped this store at least twice a week for the he last 3-4 years since relocating as a full time resident from Jacksonville where I shopped the store at Atlantic Blvd and Bartram Rd. I have very seldom had any indication of rude or unhelpful employees as anytime I've had a question it's been promptly addressed. Love the store, love the chain. Only leaving one star because I can't leave less. Visiting st Augustine from Orlando for the weekend and I have never been in a Publix with employees as freaking rude as the ones at this location. I wasn't feeling well and using the restroom and a Publix employees commentary is "this girl should of been out of the restroom by now" and as we are getting our subs made this other employee was just full of attitude. read more

I am unsure how to go about this- every single time I order a sub for pick up it's 95% of the time wrong. I am not understanding how it can always be wrong if they're reading the order ticket which they place in front of them. I get the sub station can be busy but why is the deli manger not delegating one person? Or is it in person that's messing up this badly. Just walked out without making any purchase! 9:40 on a Saturday morning and I'm standing at the Deli with one guy ahead of me at the sub counter and he stated he'd been waiting for service for 10 minutes. I counted 8 employees and one mgr. behind the counter literally bumping into one another and totally ignoring the fact they had customers waiting! Additionally, there was not one box of fried chicken/chicken wings in the warm rack - completely empty! I waited 8 minutes and left. No employee even acknowledged my presence. The selection of meats and produce is fresh. The store is spacious and clean, and the shelves are always stocked neatly. The biggest problem I have with this store is the employees. I have been frequenting this store for over a year now, consistently for weekly groceries. To begin, the deli department is extremely slooooow and every deli "worker" that I have come into contact with is clueless in addition to having poor attitudes. Hey, isn't your job to provide quick and pleasant service to your customer? They act as if you are inconveniencing them, so they will make you wait by the counter while they glance at you, pretending to be "cleaning" or maybe they are just too lazy to help you. When they do finally "help" you, they cannot get simple orders correct. Just stating the facts. The cashiers are not any better. I would love to know what kind of training they receive, because they insist on bagging your groceries for you, yet don't understand basic concepts, such as- don't put lunch meat underneath raw chicken. It is physically painful to watch these "baggers" squish my fresh produce and place heavy items on top of soft ones. If you can't do your job right, at least make up for it by providing excellent customer service. This is just too much to ask from these publix employees. This place is a mile from my home but I will now go out of my way to spend my hard-earned money at a different publix, as I refuse to keep leaving this store frustrated and insulted by the stupidity of its employees. read more

This publix is the only one relatively close to the college i attend. i went to get a a wrap at the deli. Sharon was the lady who made my wrap, she was rude, bitter, and did not put nearly enough lettuce in my wrap. The wrap that usually cost me 4 dollars was 6 and half the size it usually is. I have been to numerous Publix locations from Fort Lauderdale to Pensacola. Usually I come to Publix for a quick sub sandwich. Never have I ever encountered such a poor excuse for an employee until I had to deal with the young saddened, uncomfortable gentleman that was working on the sub line on May 1st. Maybe you could hire someone who wouldn't bring minimal work ethic, not throwing around condiment/topping attitude that wouldn't antagonize a customer who simply wanted to satisfy their hunger. (For management awareness, it was a male employee, not the nice oriental gentleman.) Publix rules! I mean, seriously, why would you shop at any of the other local grocery stores when we've got a few awesome Publix's spread throughout the oldest city. This particular Publix is pretty new, and is the flagship of a sweet little plaza, which also offers up some other nice eateries. There's not much to say if you've ever been to a Publix- it's always clean, well-stocked, and the customer service is always top notch. The bakery and deli in this store is particularly impressive, and I also love the fact they have a drive-thru pharmacy, I don't think I've ever seen that in a Publix before. Great selection of fresh fruit and seafood, a HUGE frozen selection, and the usual great Publix brands throughout. I love that this store has bigger, wider open aisles than most of the other Publix stores in the area, and this one doesn't seem to be as populated by the senior citizens, which slow down and block off aisles like every other grocery store in the city. Big plus on that side! Only thing keeping it from being a five star store is the prices- on some items (Sodas, bottled water, chips, personal hygiene items), you can get them at Target or Wal-Mart for much cheaper. However, if you have to only go shopping at one place, I don't know how you could go anywhere but Publix. The Publix brand items will save you TONS of money, and the BOGO's and coupons RULE! Publix is the best grocery store chain, bar none, and this is a fine example of how great a grocery store can be. read more

I drive past a publix to come to this specific location because I know I will get good service, friendly smiles and awesome attitudes. Joann, Rob and all of the managers are always kind, helpful, knowledgeable and treat me like a friend. I have gotten to know them from being a customer and promise I will only give my business to this location whenever possible. I go out of my way and pass lots of other grocery stores. I'm not sure if I am commenting on the right Publix store. I ordered a cake from Publix for my daughter's wedding. A little shocked that a wedding planner suggested a grocery store for a wedding cake but since it is her job, I took her advice. Holy cow was the cake wonderful! The best resting cake I have ever had! Moist, flavorful and not a nasty shortening based icing like some. I couldn't be more pleased. I totally recommend them.Annemarie was extremely helpful. Moved here several years ago and see that Publix has pretty much cornered the market here - and I don't say that in a good way. I've encountered more than my share of rude employees in this place - especially the deli/sub area. They have got to have one of the worst run deli departments I've every seen. Deli workers spend too much time talking to each other, trying to ignore you, than they do working. One time I was waiting in line (along with several others) in the lunch meat counter and a deli worker was waiting on a customer in the sub sandwich area (no deli worker was at the lunch meat area). As soon as she was done making the customers sandwich, the customer decided she wanted lunch meat also and the deli worker let her barge ahead of all of us that were waiting for lunch meat. Well, I spoke up that we were all waiting patiently for lunchmeat and the customer said to the deli worker (who it appears was someone she knew by the way they were talking) that she has to deal with people like me all the time! I'm sorry, but that deli worker knew better than to let her do that. You wait in the area you need and you wait your turn. I was so mad. Publix need to get a better manager in this area and actually make the employees wait on customers instead of trying to avoid them. Very poorly run. If Winn-Dixie wasn't so bad I'd would go there. This is what is wrong when a store has "a hold" in a demographic, they don't the incentive to try harder and do better. read more

as a regular publix shopper and lover, i am saddened by this location. I am always disappointed by the customer service and dissatisfaction. The deli often seems to be under staffed and i understand stress in a work environment but i also know how to treat customers even in difficult situations and this publix certainly does not. Go early before the rest of the town arrives to shop. They've renovated to mimic some of bigger grocery chains I've seen that includes prepared eats, better selection of cheeses in the deli, rotisserie chicken platters, and a general updated 21st century look. The store at this location has consistently been nice and clean, well organized. I have shopped regularly at a handful of Publix stores in my lifetime. First the store manager, meat department, and most male employees have been very friendly and helpful. Yes the deli is very slow (as other reviews mention) After many weeks living in Saint Augustine now and frequenting this particular location, I have come to the conclusion some of the female employees have in fact gone out of their way to be rather rude, or at best simply don't make eye contact and or speak. One in particular (cashier) that has done or behaved this way twice "Stephanie" The occasional male cashiers have always been polite based on my 3 dozen or so visits to date. I prefer my old Publix store in Jacksonville for the reason that the female employees were much more professional, courteous, and since I cant always select or choose a male cashier if they are not available. I have mixed feelings about shopping here. At first I thought it was my imagination and thought nothing about this. Sorry but it has happened enough, it is a problem for me and I don't like grumpy, bitter, or estranged service people. I will not go into details anymore than I have to maintain a measure of being conservative, and to remain professional myself. I have owned a business nearby in Jacksonville for 18 years. I have trained my employees to be as great as I have always thought that of Publix. In fact I borrowed some of their philosophy on providing great customer service. So this lesser experience does come as a surprise to me. read more

I would give this only one star, but the store itself is reasonably okay. The problem, is the deli. Publix, as everyone knows is known for two things: excellent customer service, and amazing subs; neither of which are happening at this location. I've been shopping at the Mission Trace Publix for about 5 years, and their deli has rapidly gone down hill over the past year; I cannot say enough awful things about this deli to get my point across; it's everything from rude employees, sloppy & slow sub makers, poor planning when it comes to stocking various ingredients needed for subs (they are ALWAYS out of something by 7pm, either bread, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.) the pre made salads are never stocked, the deli workers get an attitude when you ask them to make a sub with cheese they have to slice... The workers argue with each other and talk down to one another and sometimes to the customers. I would go on, but everything just sounds like nitpicking. The point is, every single time I go to get a Publix sub at this location, there are issues, but it's only this location: I work allover Northeast Florida, and I frequently get Publix subs from different stores in Jacksonville, Orange Park, Gainesville, etc, and it's always, ALWAYS a great experience, but not this location.
