Paranormal Publix - According to Waze, this was the closest Publix to our hotel at Holiday Inn Express and Suites N Executive Airport, about 17 minutes away. I did some research on places that sold ready-made food because eating out every night gets super expensive, not only that, we were very tired and jet lagged and didn't want to get dressed and go driving around looking for somewhere to eat. This particular location was on University Avenue (very busy) and at times my knuckles turned white on the steering wheel but I made it into the parking lot in once piece. There was a nice section of ready-made foods like potato salads, sandwiches, California rolls, soups, and curiously a container of "butterscotch pudding" in the middle of the savory stuff. I don't know why I didn't take a photo, because the night before my husband said I was talking in my sleep and I said "oh yummy, butterscotch pudding" - which was super strange because normally when I talk in my sleep it's 99% unintelligible. I have never seen butterscotch pudding ready-made to eat in my life before. Very strange. I wandered around and saw a line of people at the deli, so I followed. It was a hot deli where you could buy a half or a whole sandwich. As I was in line, the guy before me just turned his entire body completely 180 to stare at me. STARE. For seconds, just stood there and stared. I dared not look at him because he looked frightening. I wish my husband was here, but he was snoring back at the hotel. I ordered both of us half-sandwiches, which were very good by the way (me - veggie, husband - hot honey chicken). I believe half a chicken sandwich was in the neighborhood of about $7.00, very reasonable. Publix also carries gourmet cheese, exotic orchids, hard to find fruits like the Florida Pineberry, which I managed to snag for dessert. It was scary driving there, being there, and returning in rush hour traffic but we saved a lot of money and enjoyed the moderately cheap eats, including wine. read more

I had one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with catering at this Publix location. I placed an order on April 8th for a birthday celebration--3 medium trays of chicken tenders, 3 trays of classic trio sliders, and a cake--scheduled for pickup on April 12th at 11:00am. At 11:02am (yes, after my scheduled pickup time), I received a call from the Catering Manager, Lisa, informing me that they couldn't make the sandwiches because they didn't have the bread. No warning, no plan B, and no attempt at a resolution. Just: "We don't have it." I showed up at 11:04am to try to understand what happened and why I wasn't contacted earlier in the morning--7 or 8am at the latest (since this is when they open) so we could change to a different sandwich option. This is a grocery store, so how is there no bread in stock for deli sandwiches? And how does a manager not realize until pickup time that an order can't be fulfilled? After voicing my concerns and receiving a generic apology, I told them I'd return at 11:30am and expected the order to be ready. That's when they finally decided to walk into the grocery section to get the bread and make the sandwiches--something that could've easily been done much earlier. Because of their lack of communication and poor planning, I didn't leave the store until noon and ended up being over an hour late to my husband's birthday event. Not only was it stressful, it was completely avoidable. If you're considering using Publix catering, do not use this location. If I could leave ZERO stars I would ! I will NEVER EVER order platters from this store again . I ordered 2 large CHILLED chicken platters , and 1 large brownie platter . My pick up time was 4 PM . When I got there they were cooking it still, threw them into boxes , and my brownie platter WAS NOT MADE ! I had them page the manager Alex TWUCE , he never came at all . Over 30 min later I get my platters , not chilled chicken , had to ask 3 times for the sauces , again not arranged as should be . The deli manager actually said " you'll get your food , Judt not on platters or chilled " like that should be acceptable . When you spend almost $200 in platters ... I expect to get EXACTLY what I paid for , at the time I paid for it ! A great Publix right nearby where I live. The staff is usually super friendly whenever I am here and the shelves are usually stocked with everything that I need! The Publix is always super clean and there have been a couple times when I've seen a spill and within a few moments there is someone cleaning it up and making sure that no one gets hurt. There have been a couple times however, when I've asked where a product might be and the staff seems to not want to be bothered while they're stocking the shelves. I always love the deals and their BOGO on many items is wonderful, I find new items that I end up loving because I've decided to try them out with the deals going on! One of my favorite things about this location is the hot food bar that offers a variety of foods depending on the day you're there! Nice, large clean Publix in the Plantation area at the Market on University shopping mall. As I approached the parking lot, I saw a Publix employee. He acknowledged me as I was slowly driving in front of the store. I motioned for him to cross first, which he motioned for me to go....Just from that first experience, I can say the inside staff was also very friendly and personable. Closest Publix to where I live and let me say that honestly compared to many others in the area, this one stands out 110%. I won't go out of my way if I need anything at Publix and I am in the area, to get to this location. The staff is always friendly and the shelves are always stocked with the items I need. It is always great when I go in and the items I need are buy one get one free or buy two get one free. What's cool is this location has a cooking Studio that you can pay a little fee, when I say little I mean roughly $40 or more depending on the food that they are cooking, and a professional chef will guide you through everything and how to make the dish in question during the cooking event! Some even include wine to sip while you cook and they are very insightful! Their Deli always has friendly faces and I never wait longer than a few minutes to get the items that I need, they are always cut fresh and delivered to me almost instantaneously it seems like. I will definitely come to this location 9 out of 10 times, the one is if I am in another state! Lol! read more

Once you experience a Publix supermarket yourself, I am confident that you will understand how Publix has become such an iconic supermarket brand and has developed such a loyal customer base down here in the southeast. Publix has created a solid reputation by offering incredible customer service, great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals, and we cannot forget their subs, which are affectionately known as "Pub Subs." Coming from New Jersey, a state known for their great subs, in a way, it hurts me to state that a supermarket has some of the best subs in the area. But it is also a 100% true statement. Publix subs are very good. My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering. I also enjoy their roast beef and cheese sub. I would definitely recommend upgrading it by using Boar's Head meat. It is definitely worth the small upcharge. This particular location brings a quality experience to this Plantation, Florida neighborhood. It is a pleasant supermarket to walk through and for a supermarket, it has a good vibe. It is great to see Publix expanding beyond the boundaries of their home state of Florida and spreading throughout the southeast. Not only am I happy about it, but I am confident that the communities where Publix opens a location are very grateful for a Publix opening by them. I usually go to WinnDixie but Publix was on the right side of the road this day so I ended up at Publix. The parking was plentiful and they were wiping down carts in front of the store and were wearing masks and gloves. Inside I would say it is a smaller Publix however it was fairly well stocked and very clean and fresh smelling. They had the floor marked for social distancing and appear to be in compliance with all Covid19 regulations. They had everything I needed and check out was smooth with a 5 minute line. They have up plastic barriers at checkout and the checkout person also was wearing a mask and gloves and cleaned the belt between ever customer. I would definitely recommend this Publix for the reasons above plus all the staff was really nice and helpful. You can tell they are happy to be open! read more

I came in just to get some cat food and to quickly view the sales and was pleased with the layout and customer service. I decided to order lunch online since they had the $5.99 sub special until September 26th. I haven't ordered online in a very long time and found that this was very easy and convenient. My only mistake was noticing I forgot to order tomatoes and once I went to the cashier to pay Neil suggested I ask for tomatoes on the side. I quickly went to ask for tomatoes from the deli and they gave me more than four slices which was very gracious. Thanks Neil. This is a great Publix next to my job with some items you won't find at every other Publix. I also noticed that they have a schedule of cooking classes and I thought I might take a picture to share with fellow yelpers and customers in case they are interested. I may take one myself. I love this Publix. I usually have to come here to pick up large orders for work. The Aprons staff has always been a delight to work with. Nothing is ever wrong and the food always is above par. The grocery store itself is clean which is always something I notice when I shop. I love the salad bar and the hot bar. I never have to wait in line long at check out. A cheese bar Winery sort of Bakery with an assortments of delicacies and not to mention the option to order cakes for a simple bday or your wedding! I order my subs for lunch online and they always make them with love and timely! When I go pick it up, I find that their deli always had something cooking. You have to try their hot bar! I've had the blackened Tilapia and veggies. The texture of the fish was perfect and the flavor was just right. Blackened, so spicy but not over barring! Just picked up two subs that I ordered online for pickup from this Publix and I am extremely disappointed. Several ingredients were missing from my sub which resulted in a rather dry and unpleasant experience. My partners sub was ordered as a vegan sub and there was feta on it. This is extremely confusing as there isn't even a way to modify that sandwich. Begs the question if the inclusion was malicious as the order is inherently vegan. Additionally, the whole wheat bread had this extremely abrasive crust, which coupled with the dry sandwich acted like sand paper and left my mouth feeling a bit sore. I give it a two star because the order was completed on time, but do not plan on returning to buy subs from here any time in the near future. read more

During coronavirus crisis, this is the only place I was able to find Hand sanitizer. Not toilet paper.. But something is something. They also were out of chicken and hash, but other than that they had everything. From the hot bar, to the deli, and the bakery you cant go wrong with Publix. This location is one of my faves when I visit Ft Laudy. It's close to my Alma mater and it's clean and the people are nice. In the past long ago a d when I visit not too long ago, I've never had to wait too long in the lines and the employees are definitely nice. The Aprons Cooking School at this Publix location is awesome! They offer a variety of classes, beginning with Demonstration classes where you sit and relax and watch the chef prepare your menu. You are able to taste the items, ask questions and you take a copy of the recipes with you. Hands-on classes allow you to participate in cooking the items. You will also learn new skills or pick up tips along the way. After cooking, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor (or meats, veggies, etc :)) They also offer kid (8-12) and teen (13-18) classes to teach cooking and kitchen fundamentals. I recently went with a group of 7 as a team-building activity for work. We participated in a Hands-On class, which was great fun. The chef and sous chef were knowledgeable and entertaining and made sure to include everyone and give tasks that matched their experience and skill levels. We are a fairly loud/rambunctious group at times and they kept us in line safety wise but also joked around with us to keep it fun. The kitchen we were in was clean and well stocked, although one of the ovens was not working correctly (that was really the only thing wrong the whole class, but we had such a great time that I would still give it 5 stars!) We used great quality ingredients, everything was very fresh and the fruit was ripe and delicious (they are directly upstairs from a grocery store, so I wouldn't expect anything less.) There is an extensive series of classes offered on their calendar, ranging from one night classes to a 4 week series. They also have kids/teens camps during the summer and have a variety of Couples Cooking classes for a unique date night idea. If you are looking for an affordable cooking class, you need to visit this location. The only Florida Publix that currently has a full demonstration kitchen for you to book a private cooking class or participate in their scheduled cooking classes. I attended a class set up by a friend, we each paid $40 and there was a requirement for 10 people to hold the class. My friend picked the menu and since it was a hands on class we all got to take part in the making of the five dishes. The Chefs were personable and interacted really well with the group. I am looking forward to returning to more classes including their couples classes which I think my husband would enjoy. Beyond the classes, there is an extensive hot bar and coffee bar in this Publix, it reminds me of stores up north and make me wish we had one like this in Miami. read more

First time in this Publix and it was exactly as expected.... bright and clean. They are not my first stop for groceries but are great to fill-in when others do not carry my desired item. I don't go here for bargains. In the end, if you want one-stop shopping, they do carry a wide variety of products and will help with a smile. read more

This is my go-to Publix. I used to go to the Davie location for my first two years living down here. Had I known other Publix locations were much nicer, I probably would have not. The Davie location is definitely older compared to this location! This Publix is located right before 595 on University. What I have noticed lately is the opening of LA Fitness right next to it has definitely made this Publix much more busier. It doesn't make a difference, however, as they have plenty of registers open and employees always available for help around the store. I have seen an employee stand over a small spill of milk on the floor until it gets cleaned up and employees helping the elderly to their cars. They have an outdoor seating area that is nice for those who use the hot bar or deli during their lunch break. On the side of the building, they have their Publix liquor store which you have to access through a different door. Since I visit this Public regularly, I usually use their side entrance which has one register for 10 items or less so I am in and out. If not, they have 4 self-check outs located more closely to the main entrance. Don't forget they have a RedBox machine which never has lines (I used to wait really long in the Davie location!). I have never had an issue here or seen the place dirty. How could I give a place anything less than 5 stars when I am here quite too often! read more

I've always been a fan of Publix. Since visiting this particular store, I doubt I will ever shop at another Publix or at Whole Foods ever again! This Publix store has basically adopted the Whole Foods concept of fresh foods, gourmet products, and unbelievable customer service at a cheaper price that their competitor. I believe because WF is a stone's throw away from this store, they decided the step their game up on the amenities. I went in here on New Year's Eve for flour to bake a cake and I walked out with gourmet brie cheese, fresh deli cuts, and some food from the hot bar. Everything looked so fresh and clean and tasty. I couldn't resist. Unlike other store locations, this one has a meat department where you can get fresh cuts from the butcher. It's nothing like your local butcher shop though. The person behind the counter is super friendly, give you tips on how to cook the meat, what cuts give you the most bang for your buck and just an overall helpful experience. This store is also great for those on the gluten free, organic, all natural, non-GMO, vegan, vegetarian, and every other specialty kick because everything is labeled with different signs so you know what's what. First off, I must say I love Publix in general. As a Philly transplant, I'm very snobbish when it comes to food options. Publix is a great Super Market. But what differentiated this visit from the other locations was the customer service. I wanted a Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese jawn. I heard the rumor that Publix carries Pork Roll! I must've been bugging, because I couldn't find it. So I went to the customer service desk. I was greeted by Brenda, and she was so sweet! I work in hotel management, so I know a star when I see one! Brenda is a superstar! She showed me where to find my beloved Pork Roll, and did so with a smile and enthusiasm I have not seen south of the Delaware River! Anyway, I got my Pork Roll, and I'm happy. Popped into this location to grab a quick bite for lunch after a long morning of studying. I was very impressed. If it wasn't so difficult to get to from my house, I would frequent it more often. It is a VERY large store. Very clean. Lots of employees around stocking, checking on people, etc. All of the shelves were fully stocked, clean, and organized. I rushed into the bathroom and that was even clean and stocked. The store was just so large! The lines at the front of the store were kept short. The cashier was very nice and quick. They have an indoor seating area if you wish to sit there and eat, and an outdoor seating area on either side of the store. The tables are covered. Parking was pretty easy with lots of spots. The only bad thing is that this store is located off of University, which is annoying because there is always so much traffic. However, if I am up this way I will definitely be back! I bet they make a bomb ass chicken tender sub! read more

Food products are always good, never had trouble returning anything. I have taken classes at Apron and they are first rate. Pharmacy is always competent. Great getting flu shots. Has to be one of the best publix I've been to, Not only do they have great customer service but they have things that I have not seen in other publixs like a hot food bar with themed foods (like Chinese-egg rolls, lo main, fried rice) and cold ready to make foods...from chicken parm to crab and shrimp salad...lots of healthy ready to make options which I think is great (I saw turkey meatballs, grilled asparagus even turkey meatloaf)! All Publix locations are not the same. I consider your average Publix to be a 3 star. The smaller, older locations, I would rate as 2 star. I don't think I have ever experienced a 1 star Publix (otherwise, it would be called Winn Dixie;) ouch! That was kinda mean, even if it IS true. Anyway, the nicer, bigger, newer locations I would rate 4 stars. And every so often, there is a location like this one, that exceeds all expectations. I am sure it is no coincidence that this store, which is located right next to a Whole Foods, has a self serve bar of prepared foods. I wish my Publix had this, and can only wonder if they plan to expand this concept. The deli has a large selections of salads, and such. I have only been to this lcation once, but plan to make it part of my weekly routine now, since it's not out of my way. From the little bit that I looked around, I could see that every department carries a larger selection than the average store. I am perticularly looking forward to exploring the cheese department. In fact, I have just decided that dinner at my house tomorrow will be a self serve buffet of all of the prepared foods, salads, and cheeses! read more

I love Publix. It's clearly the best grocery store in Florida. This Plantation store has nice amenities, very clean, and nice people work there. But I've noticed time and time again the misleading signs they post on supposed sale items. I don't mean the BOGOs they offer, but items like in produce. Yesterday they had squash and zucchini packaged together on a shelf with 5, yes 5 signs saying $2.49. However the middle sign also said $2.49 per pound while all the others were identical but did not say per pound. I know this probably sounds like nitpicking but you can find this kind of trickery every week. It would be nice if they eliminated the similar signs for products that must either be sold out or nonexistent and keep the pricing more clear. I guess what I'm saying is double check the signage before you grab items off the shelf. It's very clever how they purposefully mislead you. read more

Holy Shiitake, this new location made me convert back to a Publix shopper! It truly feels like a Love Child of Publix and Whole Foods. The store is huge and has an amazing selection of organic and healthy alternatives that I could never find at the other Publix Stores. There's also a nice variety of Gluten Free items, which earns them an extra star. I still don't buy my produce or meat at Publix, but I can honestly say that everything looked fresh and there's much more at this store than any other store I've been to. The fish area was beautiful, this really stuck out to me. Everything looked Whole Foods or Reading Market (What up, Philadelphia?!) quality. Their sushi is to die for (they carry real crab), they even carry brown rice sushi. I've never seen this at the other locations, only at Whole Foods. Another thing that wowed me was their Food Bar. Conveniently located by the Deli and Cafe, the bar has hot and cold foods that you can choose if you have a starving Spouse at home and don't have time to cook, or you're very opportunistic like myself and eat just to eat (you may eat in the Cafe area after you pay). Their She-Crab Soup is delicious, it was practically gone by the time I got there at 2 pm on a Saturday. Since I found this gem, I've been here a handful of times and see the same staff members. They're really nice and helpful, which has been a rare experience at other locations. I always have a field day in here, shopping was truly a pleasure. read more
