We politely explained that we had been waiting based on her word and the confirmation we received, and that the other patient hadn't shown up. She seemed confused by the situation, made no effort to clarify or help, and ultimately refused to see our child--offering no real explanation aside from saying she was overbooked and too busy. Her dismissive attitude, lack of professionalism, and unwillingness to help were extremely frustrating. We waited 45 minutes, only to be denied care for our 4-year-old. If a provider is too overwhelmed to assess a young child--especially when there's a no-show appointment and we're on standby--that's a serious problem. This experience was unacceptable. Making you have to take the slow elevator with other people since there was no other way to get up or down the stairs.
