    Olive Bar
    Joe S.

Wow! What an impressive Publix. This is not my regular Publix, but I needed a few things and this was on the way so I stopped in. I'm glad I did. The layout is different than the store I typically go to, but that's common with all stores. It took me a bit longer to find some things, and as I perused the store, I was impressed by some things I don't have at "my" Publix. First, there's an Olive Bar! It's an indulgence, but if it goes on sale, I'll be there filling a bucket full of those red peppers. Yum. There's also a soup and salad bar to go along with it. They also have the deli area where you can get hot foods and subs, but that's pretty standard. The other thing that really impressed me was their display of cold prepared foods. There were so many to choose from. I wasn't there shopping for those on this trip, but would be a place to stop and pick something up for a quick meal. As always, the staff at Publix is always friendly. The cashier was checking out my selections and inquiring about them. It's nice that they're paying attention and not just blindly scanning the items.

As far as supermarkets go here on the east side of Orlando, Publix is the undisputed leader. From my house I have a half dozen locations within a few miles. I can hit any one of these locations within ten, fifteen minutes tops by car. With that being said, I am not here more than other locations. East Colonial Drive can get a bit busy during rush hour, so I often opt for other locations. But this Publix lives up to the Publix demand for fantastic customer service, good value, and a clean, attractive store. On this particular evening there was a long line at the deli for the subs despite it being after 8:00 PM. It is no wonder, Publix subs are renowned and it is a reputation that they earn. Publix subs are fantastic. Publix offers a sub far superior to many of the national sub chains. All in all, Publix is a great supermarket. It sets the bar here in the southeast for what a supermarket should be and continues to exceed its customers' expectations.

Coming to Florida for the first time, I had no idea what to expect from Publix other than what my girlfriend told me, which was that they had really good subs and their key lime pie was amazing. Happy to say it doesn't just stop there. First off, it's just a great grocery store. Everything is organized well. The employees are incredibly friendly and helpful. I'm always the guy asking where something is (because apparently I'm blind) and the people have always gone out of their way to show me. All the workers there have tablets or apps on their phones so that they can look up exactly what you want and where it is. They will still go with you to help you find it which is appreciated. The highlight of my Publix trips have to be the Deli and Pastry sections. I have a huge sweet tooth, so I'm all too happy to just kinda walk around the pastry section for 10 to 15 minutes, getting my weekly intake of food porn. Nearly everything is made in store, so everything is super fresh. Tarts, eclairs, donuts, pies, cookies, pudding, flan, cakes, chocolate covered strawberries.... if you can think of it, they probably have it. The pastry section alone is why I spend about an hour a day at the gym, just trying to make sure I'm not that guy on the news being taken out of his apartment in a crane because I was too big to fit through the door. If I had one complaint, it would be that there aren't enough gluten free options. Personally, I eat everything, but I know people that are pretty much restricted to just a few of their cupcakes. One of the great things about this location in particular is something I found out just recently talking to one of the employees; this store is one of the pilot stores, so basically it will have some items here way before other locations as a way to test them out with shoppers. That really keeps the Pastry section interesting. The deli section is amazing as well. Their subs look great, but personally I like to go for the healthier options (which I know to most would mean "not as tasty"... but not here). My favorite lunch items here are the daily-made protein bowls. It's like the filling of a burrito in salad form, and all the ingredients are so fresh. I have at least 2 or 3 a week. The chipotle chicken one is my favorite. If I'm craving something bigger, I'll head to the fried chicken. Honestly, I think their fried chicken rivals that of any KFC or Popeyes, and I love those two chains. They are always super juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and very well seasoned. The wings, the fried chicken pieces and the popcorn chicken are all must-tries for sure. Seafood, produce and meat sections are all pretty standard. Sometimes they get in some specialty items, like the large purple grapes from Chile, but it must be seasonal. Checking out is never a problem at this location. I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 minutes to have everything rung up and paid for. There is always someone bagging everything up for you too. Depending on how much you've bought, many times they will offer to help you to your car, which I imagine is helpful to many handicapped or elderly shoppers. In terms of prices, I was so used to shopping at Whole Foods back in NY that everything here seems pretty reasonable. I'm also incredible pleased that this store is literally around the corner from my place. A truly great place to grocery shop.

Need help with your cooking techniques?

I have been shopping at Publix for a very long time. This store is always immaculate and the staff is always friendly. I LOVE their bakery. Probably a bit too much... If you are looking for the best prices, you are in the wrong store but if you want great customer service, exceptional baked goods and a great deli with a good selection of items... You are in the right grocery store... There are other places BUT... If you want a great shopping experience... Go to Publix....

If that was the case each time, I'd bring the toppings myself since they hold up a line or question management how to make it, read their paper, etc. When we went to the Publix by Lake Eola, the worker who prepared my sub was much quicker and efficient. Vegan cheese, the meatless deli slices, etc. and it came out fantastic. We also arrived near closing and they gave us excellent service. My family ordered their own sandwiches and enjoyed them, but I usually expect difficulty when it comes to placing my vegan sandwich order. This Publix was different and I appreciate how hip they are with the times. They knew what vegan meant, they knew which sandwich I was referring to (Meatless Turkey Club). Even if not everyone orders the sandwich, why advertise it / have on the menu if your workers aren't going to keep the ingredients ready? Well done Publix by Lake Eola! I say so because it reflects the reality of this store...a TRUE exception to the brand. The store is somewhat well organized with wide, clean aisles and well marked departments. I didn't bother too much with bakery or deli, but they seemed adequate enough, albeit with minimal variety. There are two sets of shorter aisles in lieu of one set of very long aisles. A third longitudinal aisle bisects the place all the way across making for shorter trips on more aisles rather than nearly as many in the longer aisles one generally finds in grocery stores around here. There's a more pronounced selection of ethnic and international stuff than what I normally see at W-D. There's even a good sized kosher section full of overpriced (but theologically correct) groceries. It is apparent that the store caters to the vast multitudes staying in all the resort properties around here whilst blowing their budgets of bucks, Euros, Pesos, Rials, Rupees, Rubles, Yen, Yuans or Pounds Sterling on ridiculously rich rodents or wondrously wealthy whales. That said, I did enjoy my trek thru here and thumbing my nose at the granddaddy grocer in the green getup from the sunshine state. Cashiers seemed friendly too, as is not always the case with W-D. The store, as alluded to earlier, is very clean, quite big and totally un-Winn-Dixie-like. The parking lot is spacious and easy to navigate, which already sets the tone for a smooth, stress-free visit. Once inside, you quickly realize just how expansive this market truly is--you could easily spend an hour (or more) exploring every aisle without even noticing the time go by. What makes this market stand out is its depth and authenticity. As an Asian supermarket, it offers an extraordinary range of products that go far beyond what you'll find in standard grocery stores. The produce section alone is worth the visit--fresh, vibrant fruits and vegetables, many of which are unique or hard to find elsewhere, are beautifully displayed and constantly restocked. As you move through the aisles, you'll discover an impressive selection of: Specialty herbs, spices, and seasonings Authentic sauces and condiments from across Asia An entire world of noodles, rice varieties, and pantry staples A wide assortment of snacks, beverages, and imported goods If you're cooking Asian cuisine, you will find absolutely everything you need here--no exceptions. It's the kind of place where both home cooks and seasoned food lovers can get inspired just by walking through the aisles. Beyond groceries, Lotte Plaza Market feels more like an international marketplace. You'll find plants, beauty products, and specialty items, adding to the overall experience and making it more than just a place to shop--it's a place to explore. A helpful tip: since many items are imported, be mindful to check expiration dates on packaged goods, and keep an eye out for promotions. Some products can be on the pricier side, but there are definitely great deals if you take a moment to browse. One of the highlights--and honestly one of the main reasons I return--is the indoor food court-style dining area. There are several small eateries where you can order directly at the counter. While the setup is casual and straightforward, the food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and satisfying--perfect for a quick and delicious stop during your visit. To elevate the experience even further, the market also features a French bakery, along with beauty boutiques and a hair salon, giving it the feel of a small international plaza rather than a traditional grocery store. Overall, Lotte Plaza Market delivers on every level--selection, authenticity, and experience. Whether you're shopping for specific ingredients, discovering new products, or simply stopping in for a quick bite, it's absolutely worth the visit. Even if you're not familiar with Asian cuisine, this is the kind of place you go to explore, learn, and enjoy something different. Walking into Sprouts feels like someone gave Whole Foods a personality transplant and slashed the prices while they were at it. The produce section is legitimately gorgeous -- heaps of organic kale that actually looks alive, avocados that are ripe EXACTLY when they say they will be (witchcraft?), and those little cartons of specialty mushrooms I pretend to know how to cook. Everything smells like it was picked this morning, because half of it probably was. The bulk bins are dangerous for me. I go in for almonds and leave with mocha-dusted chocolate almonds, chili-lime pistachios, and some random grain I saw on TikTok that I'll never figure out how to pronounce. Their bulk spices are also clutch -- I refilled smoked paprika for like $0.87 the other day and felt like I hacked the system. The deli/sandwich counter is low-key one of the best lunch deals in town. $8.99 for a massive made-to-order sandwich on fresh-baked bread with all the fancy toppings? Yes please. The "Sprouts Classic" with turkey, cranberry, and stuffing vibes year-round is stupidly good. Meat and seafood counter people are always chill and actually know what they're talking about. Got sold on some cedar-plank salmon that changed my weeknight dinner game. And if you're plant-based, the selection of fake meats and cheeses that don't taste like regret is honestly impressive. Only tiny gripe: the parking lot is a blood sport on weekends and they play the same 7 acoustic covers on loop, but I'll fight for a spot and hum along to "Wonderwall" on ukulele if it means I get to shop here.
