I'm fortunate to live near two upscale grocery stores here In Clayton. I didn't really think I'd shop here as regularly as I do when this store was being constructed. Boy was I wrong. The store is always clean and well laid out. One of my favorite purchases is their beef tenderloin steaks and the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. While they may not carry ALL of my favorites, they have options that are a satisfyingly equivalent. The workers are friendly and quite helpful with questions about product locations as well. Really nothing bad to say. They check all the boxes for a quality grocery store. read more

I do enjoy shopping at Publix Market. It's very clean and in order . The grocery staff are very helpful and they are very knowledgeable of where store items are located . And the sandwich deli has fine options for those who don't eat meat. It's my go to store! read more

I love Publix! This afternoon when I visited this particular Publix, as usual everyone was so helpful. I am terrible about remembering where things are. Now the food availability is incredible. I visited the Publix at Flowers Crossroads in Clayton, North Carolina on Saturday, November 8, 2025, around 11 a.m. I was there to pick up a prescription, and I have to say the pharmacy staff was excellent. They were quick, polite, professional, and friendly. Definitely five stars for the pharmacy team. After that, I went over to the deli to grab a few things. This was my first time visiting this store, and I was really impressed with how clean, bright, and organized everything was. It is a nice setup, and I think I will really enjoy shopping here. The only thing that threw me off a little was something that happened at the deli. While I was trying to look at the rotisserie chicken, a man who looked like a maintenance worker came and stood right in front of me and another shopper. He started moving and lining up all the chicken packages on the shelves, touching every box, and completely blocked us the whole time. He did not say anything or make room for customers, and it just felt kind of awkward. He did not seem to be a deli worker, but he went through the little side door that employees use afterward, so I guess he works there. It was just odd seeing someone who is not part of the deli team handling the hot food packages like that. Other than that, everything else was great. I used self-checkout on my way out, and the staff there were super helpful and friendly when I needed help fixing a double scan. Would I go back? Yes, absolutely. I think it is a great store overall, but if I see that same guy handling the deli food again, I will definitely bring it to a manager's attention. read more

Nicest and roomiest Publix I've ever been to. Nothing but a great experience. Created cheerfully before I even stepped into the store. It was New Year's Eve. This place was well stocked and staffed. If I lived in this area, it would be my go to store. Check out. Forgot my bread. Cashier cheered me on, running out to grab it. There was no one waiting. Soooooo many registers over. read more

The Publix pharmacy used to be 100% fantastic- they no longer are. What's changed?!? There are 4 people "working" right now. 2 are pharmacist, 2 techs. I had a script sent around 2 pm from doctors office. My husband came to pick it up at 5:30- it wasn't ready yet and they said to come back in 30 minutes. An hour later I come back and they tell me it will be 20 more minutes...... it's been 30 more minutes and i'm still waiting. I don't understand why service is so bad right now with so many people working. It feels like I'm in the sub line or at the deli where service also sucks...... So disappointing that the Pharmacy is no better than Walgreens or CVS now...... read more

I generally love Publix; I shop there every week. But the Deli department is a drag on the overall review. They're never adequately stocked on pre-fab Italian sandwiches. Inventory control is not rocket science. if contractors are buying your stock, figure out how to make more, rather than leave other shoppers no choice but the deli line. When I can't get one from the stock shelf, I dread standing at the deli counter. Slow as Christmas, and again rarely stocked so the lone sandwich maker (with 4 people in line ) has to excuse herself to go cut more meat. The prepackaged Boar's Head case rarely has a full stock, so we wait to get someone's attention to cut it. Management of this department needs to get it together. read more

I had never been to a Publix before until they built one in Clayton. After visiting a few times, I realized how much nicer it is compared to Harris Teeter. All the shelves are stocked and very neatly organized which lets me find everything much faster and easier. All the employees I have talked to are always friendly and quick to smile! They always help me solve any issue that arise. While not the fastest, the Deli made me one of Publix's famous chicken tender subs and boy was it worth the wait! I had none left over. I always leave Publix feeling satisfied! read more

Publix is not the closest grocer to my house. But, now braving it after my 3rd shot (not alcohol!) I thought I'd try Publix. Mind you, I was a huge fan of Publix when I lived near Tampa, so the chain isn't new to me. Oh by golly I felt at home again. Everyone is so congenial, so willing to help find things or to just offer a nod of acknowledgment. The store was clean and bright, well stocked, and offered more than any other local store. Fresh seafood, olive bar, specialty cheeses, deli and awesome bakery are only some of why I'll go again & again. My partner is a fan of hot pressed Cuban sandwiches and Publix is one of the very few places that knows how to make them. to me, the sub rolls are the absolute best anywhere near Clayton. Their sub menu is a bit limited, but if you don't see it, it can't hurt to ask for a made-to-order! (We came home with excellent subs : ) I found this store to be inclusive. Every employee that I encountered was friendly, courteous, and helpful. It's worth the extra 10 minutes for me to get there. read more

I'm reviewing this store based on their deli. Our order was placed online for a couple of subs to be ready for pickup at 3:30. Arrived at the store right around that time and went to the order pickup area to inquire on the order. Was told the order was being worked on. Waited around 15 minutes more so asked about the status again. This time a store manager went over to the deli to check. He came back to tell me he had one person each working on each sub and would be ready "in a minute or two". Waited about 10 more minutes and finally approached the deli counter myself to where an employee had been working waiting on walk-up customers so I asked him about our subs which were laying there in front of him ready to go, he said I could go ahead and get them. By this time, it was almost 4 and I told the employee they were supposed to have been ready at 3:30 and that I wouldn't be doing this again. He kind of laughed and said "sorry". As for the rest of the store, many of their prices seem overly high but my main beef is the very poor management of customer orders at the deli placed in advance, and this was not the first time I've had to wait a while after sending in an online order. Obviously, I do not recommend them and will get my subs elsewhere from now on. read more

Love Publix! Moved to North Carolina from Florida and one of the selling points, honestly, was that Publix is 1.4 miles away from our house. The location in Clayton is small, but still has all the staples available for a one-stop shopping trip. Everyone at the store works very hard, and they are also very good at asking if you need help finding something. There is not much in the Clayton area but as long as I have my Pub Subs, Publix chicken tenders, and the occasional Publix buttercream frosting birthday cake, I am content. read more

I visited publix today to get a few items. I noticed a dog in a car. The temperature today is 86 degrees. I told the customer service desk about the dog and explained radiant heat. I purchased my items and noticed on the way to my car the dog in the hot car. I then spoke to a manager that said she would make an announcement but she couldn't break the windows on the car. I should have contacted animal control. Obviously publix doesn't care for the welfare of animals. I'll be shopping elsewhere. read more

The worst Publix I've ever been to and I'm from Florida where Publix is THE main grocery store in the state. The deli section has the absolute most disrespectful employees in the entire store. The employees will not acknowledge you when you show up and no one is in line, they roll their eyes at you and huff their breath like customers are an inconvenience to them. I literally have the same experience every time I go to this location. It's ridiculous. The workers in the deli clearly don't care bc their leadership allows it. I've complained to the in store managers multiple times as well as the Corporate office. I've even had my food compensated bc the service is so god awful. I got a sub from the sub making section I thought was just outstanding. It isn't the frozen always frozen crap from train station. I purchased the turkey cranberry sub which is probably a holiday sub. I figure to fatten up on the chicken tenders sub and probably a meatball sub too. I got a few other things too. I was so excited to have this store in town when it opened a few years ago. The deli and the bakery in particular really stood out above the competition in the area. Lately the bar cakes and the cake slices have been very stale and dry to the point that I no longer purchase them. Today I ordered two subs on the app. Showed about 20 minutes after the time they were supposed to be ready. They were not there, someone from customer service checked on me and went to over to ask about the subs. The employees then made fun of her when she walked away. I walked around the store a few minutes and when I went back to the deli there was one employee helping the one customer in line and 4 employees in the deli just standing there talking. No one was make my order that was at least 30 minutes late. They were not busy or short staffed. So I left and I won't be back. I give this store 2 stars for always being clean. read more

This a review on subs. They are usually good quality, but the store cannot get the service right. Today, I ordered online. Went to pickup sub 30 minutes later. Had not even started on it. Blamed delays on high volume in store customers. Then why take orders online? It would have been quicker for me to go in store and get in line. Total time to deliver today - 50 minutes. This review is for the sub department. I placed an order for 3 subs at 4:30 and I chose 5:15 for the pick-up time. You would think that it would be ready at 5:15, but it was not. I proceeded to get a couple other things that I needed and went back to the pick-up around 5:25. They still weren't out. A man was nice enough to go check and when he saw they weren't ready, said I would get them for free. He said they would be ready soon so I continued waiting. Workers kept going back to check and they were not all ready until 5:50. The fact that it took an hour and 20 minutes to make 3 subs is RIDICULOUS and there is no reason for it to take that long. Not only did it take that long, but by the time I got home at 6pm the two hot subs were cold. Not sure that this is how it should go and I don't think I'll ever be getting a sub from here again, as this is not the first time I have had a negative experience with this department at Publix. I personally love this publix and frequent it very often. Their fruit and vegetables are very fresh as well as their meats. They also have a great bakery section. Their pickup is fast and easy and the inside of the store is very clean. I personally have never had any employee rude to me like some of the comments have mentioned but have experienced the opposite. They are always welcoming when you walk through the door and have also seen them help elderly bring their groceries to their car. read more
