Walmart actually does want people to have a happy holiday & merry Christmas. So come on over to Walmart this holiday season & make Walmart your primary grocery store destination, during the entire new year of 2024. I've lived in Raleigh for 14 years, and while I've enjoyed a few things from The Fresh Market before, I had never tried their bakery items. When I saw them on the Too Good To Go app, I decided it was the perfect excuse to run out and try it. My first two interactions were fantastic--the lovely elderly woman in the bakery and the sweet cashier checking me out were absolutely amazing and treated me with genuine kindness. However, the front-end manager (I believe her name was Tip or Tiff) completely ruined the experience. Her demeanor was an absolute deterrent. In an interaction that lasted less than three minutes, she hounded the cashier, repeating four or five times: *"Make sure you watch her scan it on the app."* The first time she said it, I thought nothing of it--just standard store process. But repeating it aggressively that many times while I, a Black customer, am just standing there rubbed me entirely the wrong way. To make matters worse, I had also picked up a granola bar to purchase. The manager came over *again*, hounding the girl: *"What are you doing? I have to make sure. Did you actually see her scan it?"* I felt incredibly sorry for the poor cashier, and frankly, I felt targeted. It is deeply frustrating to still deal with people acting like I don't belong in spaces where I absolutely do--and it's even more disheartening when that energy comes from another minority. If I had known I'd be treated with that level of baseline suspicion, I wouldn't have even spent money on the granola bar. That manager's behavior completely turned me away from ever spending my money at this store again. I truly hope this is a lesson for her in how she treats people. To the sweet cashier and the wonderful woman in the bakery, thank you for being decent human beings--I hope you both have an amazing day.

Everything from plain cheese to exotic specialty pizzas by the pie or by the slice. This time my wife and I ordered a buffalo chicken, pepperoni and one with jalapeños and hot honey drizzle. All the slices were excellent. And at $4.00-$5.00 a slice, it won't break your wallet. If you visit Wegmans you will love it.

The fresh food bar is one of my favorite things about the store, and their produce is consistently some of the best you'll find. I also always stop by the deli for their freshly sliced cheeses and turkey. The bakery and prepared meals are excellent too, and everything just feels higher quality than your average grocery store. The store is always clean, well-organized, and the staff is genuinely helpful. Wegmans has set the bar for grocery stores, and I wish there were more of them.

Now for the negatives, for self check-out, the POS (Point of Sales system) is a POS (poo). I've had problems for both my visits and that has caused major problems for me. One resulted in multiple visits to rectify a billing/banking issue, the other just locked up and wouldn't accept my BOA card. The screens/flow of the checkout is just odd here, I recommend using a cash register. I'm pretty comfortable with self check-out and usually it's faster, but not here at Lidl. In all honesty, I'd probably give them 3 stars given how big the chain is and how they should have their store opening process well locked down. But they are definitely still working out issues. And I really hope they do given how close they are to my home.

You're guaranteed to wait for at least ten minutes and the self checkout line typically is snaking down the length of the front of the store. The women's bathroom looks like a bomb went off (consistently)...filthy and at least one toilet isn't working. Yesterday I went in and the middle stall had literal piles of feces all over the toilet.

Clear bags are for dry goods, blue bags are for frozen foods. There are plenty of options. My favorite section is the beer and wine selection. There is a plethora of local options to choose from. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you Sunday morning before 10:30am, you have the whole place to yourself. There is a store directory in the front of you want to know where things are but are too afraid to ask employees. The employees really try to keep the line moving. Best thing about this store is that they have a recycling center in the front of the store!! I love that!
