First time I visited this store, it was OK. Highly-priced, but the new-store feel was sorta nice. The upper deck gives me a little anxiety because of the height, but that's just me. It is still pretty cool to get a good view of the entire store at once, however. My complaint is that the pharmacy is lacking in customer service and general knowledge of just about everything. The pharmacy manager is not a reason to keep coming back to this location, and I will keep it at that. I am NOT impressed. Basically, I think this store is an overrated, overpriced rip-off of every other grocery store in the area. The one in Virginia Beach was a little better than this one when I went there. This location though?.. I prefer it back when it was a Farm Fresh. Nobody needs the contaminated "Boar's Head" deli crapwiches. Stick to mystery meat from a gas station. You'll probably get the same results, anyway. Just don't go to this place's pharmacy when you get sick from it! Not a good reflection on the Pubix name. read more

First time ever at Publix. Needed to see the hype. So excited to take a look! It's nice clean spacious. I couldn't resist and stopped by the ready prep meals. You have quite a bit of choices that I see more than usual compared to other super markets. They have sushi that I thought was priced well, bowls, Mac n cheese, collards, roast, marinated olives, pizza and popcorn. So if you are not in the mood to cook I definitely suggest to check it out. The rest of the store is fine, but expect to pay additional $2-$3 more than other stores. I will definitely come back for the pre-made food. read more

We stopped by the new Publix located in Chesapeake. This is a well stocked store and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables available and the meat department is well stocked too. We had a great experience here! read more

It has a clean layout with plenty of soup, sandwich, fruit, and snack items! Take advantage of the Club Publix perks and get a chance for a gift card to win. Great staff! Very clean!! Insanely dishonest: On different occasions in the past two weeks this happened: - tziki was on sale... but the sale display sign was surrounded by different brand of the same product...and they didn't have the brand that was on sale...do misled with alternate brand that wasn't on sale. -check out counter wasn't "uprated." Bought two big packs of chicken for BOGO... didn't notice until I got home. Received great customer service, corrected price ... so I know I look at the receipt. - items on sail at the counter next to the pharmacy that are priced at a discount rang up at the normal price. Not cool. Didn't notice until I after I was home. That is a lot of shady business. I understand mistakes...but on every other visit? Go for the staff and cleanlines and check your receipts, occasionally. I won't believe that I am the only person being subtly scammed I have photo proof of the most recent incident but fear retribution by posting...they know how to identify a person by the receipt. read more

BEWARE of the serious food safety concern regarding the deli department at the Publix on Cedar Road. During my visit, I observed a significant number of flies--at least 15 or moreswarming around and landing on the prepared foods, including the fried chicken. Although the food was covered with plastic, the covering was not sealed properly and did not prevent flies from coming into direct contact with the food. When I expressed my concern to an employee and stated that I would not purchase food under those conditions, the employee responded, "We're doing our best to keep the flies away." I understand that pest control can sometimes be challenging, but allowing flies to repeatedly land on prepared food presents a serious sanitation and food safety concern. I hope this matter is addressed promptly to protect customers and ensure the deli maintains the high standards of cleanliness and food safety that Publix is known for. read more

I finally got to step inside the new Publix which is at the intersection of Cedar Rd and the Dominion Blvd 15 expressway. I've watched them gut out the vacant former Farm Fresh and make it into the eye appealing Publix. The parking lot is of good size. The employees are all so helpful. They have lots of promos going on now like their Club Publix perks awards system and they also have BOGO for select items. They have a whole second floor area to eat, charge your phone, or people watch. Everyone is so nice offering help to everyone, they even offered to bring my groceries to my car! How nice! You definitely don't see that anymore. They have a great selection of organic produce, dairy, and non perishables. They have a great bakery. Yes, they are a bit pricey but I've already been debriefed from Publix lovers. Overall, yes I am a fan and especially how it's super close to me! read more

FLIES FLIES FLIES EVERYWHERE!!!!!The deli section is infested with flies. To add insult to injury they make and them slide sandwiches down for condiments,giving the flies a free buffet. The manager with NO GLOVES was trying to clear the ice machine with a spatula. Yelp is next. Only because doesn't deserve to let this one location DESTROY their reputation. read more

When they first opened up, I was so excited to have a Publix so close to home! But then you started letting down my expectations. If you say you're gonna be open at 7 AM for shopping, then you need to ensure that all your departments are set up to be shopped. Several times I have come in at 7:15, and the meat department, especially the fish, and bakery are empty and not even set up. Then you're told to come back 10 to 15 minutes if you want to order something, you return and they're still not set up and you can't get what you need. What's the point? You have a tremendous amount of employees all standing around not doing much of anything. Please get your act together, because I know you are much better than this! Oh, and have I mentioned the flies?? They are all over the deli meats and breads. I refuse to get anything from there, and when I mentioned it to a manager, they said they would look into it. Nope, they're still there! I've been a long time Publix shopper, and I know the difference between a good managed store, and a poorly managed store. This is very disappointing. read more

Christine the store manager was very insulting and accused me of trying to use gift cards twice. The pharmacy made an error when they issued them to me and they were not showing a balance. Then she called corporate to check if they were stolen and left me waiting at the customer service desk for a long time. I left and will never go back! read more

I love Publix, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.... In FL. I was excited to get a Publix by the house but this location has molded fruits, smelly fish, smelly chicken, expired items etc. it's not all the time but it has happened over a dozen times to the point we have decided to just shop at food lion again. I purchased a bag of potatoes that seemed good until I cut them open and was entirely green inside. I called out of piled up frustration and the "manager" said come tomorrow and we'll replace it. She didn't ask for my name or anything. I asked what if you're not there and she responded "tell them my name and they'll replace it". Not good accountability nor am I going to act on that response. The deli is a joke in itself as well. Fly infested and a lot of inexperienced workers causing lines to be long most the time. All in all this location gets less than 3 stars but I'll keep it at 3 since it's still fairly new. My best advice is to find out the shipment dates and shop then. smell all meats if possible, inspect all fruit/veggies, and check expiration dates. read more
