Reasonable price, great owner, and nice location…read more Came in for an oil change and to track down the cause of a recurring stall issue with my Volkswagen Tiguan. The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

I ended up needing more work done and while it was expensive as cars are it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Gia the manager was also just pleasant to talk to and very communicative overall. She even offered to let me come around the desk to type in my credit card number for privacy which I felt was a thoughtful gesture. Overall my experience was great and my car feels better! Brian and Sharon are easy to deal with. Some people think their prices are a little high, I say it's worth every penny. I don't like being given a load of crap to make the shop money, and they won't do that. Don't take your investment to a basic mechanic to have them do something they don't specialize in. Williamson Auto specializes in fixing your car the right way and more! They do honest work, and what their estimates say needs to be done, that's it. Brian, the mechanic, knows what he is doing. One of the few shops around that will give you an estimate and stick to it. If he says something needs to be fixed, then it does. And same goes for if he says it doesn't yet need work, then he leaves you with the option of repairing something and paying for something that didn't really need to be done. There are no corporate mouths to feed, no CEOs, and no stockholders setting the prices. Keep your business in this small, homegrown, experienced shop, and you will not be disappointed. And that's all I've got to say about that....

Called on a Tuesday afternoon to make sure they can run a diagnostic on my car to see why my car…read morewas leaking coolant. They claimed they couldn't thoroughly run one till the next day when the engine cools, which wouldn't be till the next day. So I agreed to drop it off for the diagnostics to be done the next day. When dropping of the car, there was a guy & lady in there. They took my information, I gave them my key/alarm. They both told me "no work will be done on a car, without a customer's consent once the diagnosis is complete. If you decide to get work done, the diagnostic fee will be waived and you'll get a quote as to how much the cost will be for repairs". Since that was the case, I would be without a car and I'm newer to the state and don't have anybody immediate around me. I had to literally beg for a ride by to my house, which was only 2 miles away from the shop. The older guy, was kind of abrasive at first but he reluctantly gave me a ride back to my house, his name was Ray. Turned out to be a nice guy, thanks. Next day comes (Wednesday) don't hear a word from anybody, till I decide to call around 1:00pm. I was told my car hasn't even made it "in-house" yet, maybe it'll be got around to, maybe not. Didn't hear anything else that day. Thursday comes, I call around 10:30am to see what was going on. Talked to the same guy, who I would assume is Art, the person that's doing the work and he tells me that there was a clamp on a hose loose so supposed that was the cause. He drove my car around and mentioned something about an air pocket needing to be smoothed out but he need to get back around to that some time that day (he made it a point to tell me several times, not to worry. The cost will not be that much because it seems to be a simple fix) I ended up calling later that day, again before leaving work, around 2:30pm to see if it was finished for me to be dropped off to pick it up... got a bunch of excuses "that I've got 14 different things going on, maybe I'll get back around to it before we close to day, if so I'll give you a call. If not, it should be done Friday". If you can guess it, never got a call. So, now we're on today Friday (9/6/2024) I CALL (nobody from this business, has called me not one time, despite reconfirming my phone number about 4 different times before leaving on Tuesday afternoon) yet again at 12:00pm same guy I've been talking to the previous times I've called the last 2 days. He now want to inform me that all of a sudden. The car is still running hot and may need a thermostat and guess what!? They closed at 12:00pm on Fridays!!! So now, he tells me that Monday it "should be done". I state to him, " do you not have anybody in your office to call your customers to inform them on the status of their vehicles!?" He replied, " no there's not." Once again, I ask for an estimate/cost and of course he doesn't know. What kind of business is this!? If the fix was as simple as he was claiming, why is it take 6-7 + to do so!? If there is a commission board for vehicle repairs, I will be reporting this to them! I told the guy, do not do anything else to my car! I'll be there Monday to pick it up! IS THE WHOLE STATE OF NC, THIS INCOMPETENT!? I've never in my life, in any other state that I've visited or lived had this many issues with businesses across the board! Straight ridiculous!

They did the initial diagnostics and said they could fix it. I agreed. After keeping my car for an almost a week, they called and said it was more than they wanted to deal with. Apparently VW's are difficult to work on. I was ok with that part, but they still charged me $104 for the initial diagnostics. I would normally be ok with that, if I was the one that didn't want the work to be completed after their initial eval/diagnostics. But in this case, they backed out of the repair but still charged me the $104. So, I have my car still not fixed a week later, out the $104, and I still have to go somewhere else for them to do their diagnostics that I will have to pay them for a second time. I would not recommend Art's. Don't waste your time and money.
