Typical "BAIT AND SWITCH"! It is a very nice facility and the staff is helpful but they changed the rate by 37% after the first month. The contract is month to month but the practice is disingenuous and deceptive. Of course they wait until you move you items in before they jack up the rate. Beware!! read more

They raised my rate 43% within 6 months. Buyer beware.... You see their competitive rates online, move all your stuff in, then they nearly double the rate. The definition of bait and switch. Public Storage business model unfortunately takes advantage of customers needing storage. My unit price increased from $120/mth to $312/mth for the same unit over a 2 1/2 year period. When I called to ask for the explanation for the exorbitant price increases was told by the manager it was corporate who sets the rates and nothing could be done. My new rate for one year is $3744 or 5 years is $18,720. Learn from my mistake and do not use Public Storage unless you can commit to renting for less than 1 year. read more

I'm not much for doing surveys or online reviews. I'm going to make an exception. Short version: This is the worst business I've dealt with in my 64 years of life. Long version (but worth it): After renting our 5x10 unit here, we moved from Texas to Florida. I forgot I had anything there (what happens on "Storage Wars"), but I remembered when I needed to get what was there sent to an auction house. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the locker keys. I asked my son to go to the facility to see what he could do to help. They couldn't/wouldn't help him. I then called and talked to "Eric," who said he was the manager. He was ZERO help - literally the same as if he had said, "Sorry, pal, too bad, so sad." There was no extra key (it is THEIR key), no security questions I could answer, nothing. According to Eric, I was SOL. So I asked my family if they knew anything about the keys. My daughter found a key ring she thought might be it and sent me pictures. I called the facility again and talked to "Chris." I had exactly one question: "If I send you a picture of these keys, could you tell me if they are your keys?" When I described them, he said, "That sounds like our keys." I thanked him for that opinion but said, "I'd like to know for sure before I get the keys to a friend in Texas to open the locker. So, may I just text you this picture?" His response? "We're not allowed to text." My response: "Okay, I'll email them to you. What is your email address?" His response? "We're not allowed to give out our email address." This is 2022 - what business doesn't have an email address? In any event, I said, "Look, all I want to do is have you look at this picture and tell me whether these keys are yours. I don't want you to go into the unit, move anything, or literally do ANYTHING ELSE." Chris' response: "I can't do that." I then asked, "Well, do you have any great ideas or suggestions for what I can do?" He said they could drill the lock out, which I immediately agreed to. Then, he said that would take at least a week. I told him I didn't have a week and that I would happily pay to expedite it or send over my own locksmith. He said he couldn't do that. I then asked for their locksmith's number to see if I could bribe him to go over in less than a week, but he wouldn't give it to me. I then asked Chris for his boss' name (yeah, I was kind of a "Karen," but I didn't feel like I had any other choice) with the hope that perhaps the boss might be a little more helpful. He gave me his boss' name, Jessica. I called Jessica THREE times over two days, and left VM messages every time. I got zero response. From Jessica's voicemail greeting, I realized that Chris had given me her cell number. I called Chris back and asked him why he wouldn't give me his cell number to text him the picture, but it was fine for him to give me his boss' cell number? He just said that he couldn't do that. (I should add that I also texted Jessica three times and got zero response.) I'm now in a quandary. I need to get in the unit pretty much right now, but I can't. I went to Google and found email addresses for several Public Storage big shots at the "corporate office" and sent them this story. Justin, a Senior Regional VP, called me almost immediately and, long story short, worked out the problem quickly and kindly. Great guy. So, here's the skinny: Justin gets an A+, but Eric, Chris, and the local facility get an F-. Besides being totally unwilling or unable to help, Eric and Chris weren't even willing to say, "Look, we don't normally do this, but let me make a few calls and see if I can somehow help." Nope, nothing. Zero, zip, nada. Besides the galactically poor service from Eric and Chris, I realized something else. Like most of us, I have at times lost access to things like my online bank or AMEX account, etc. Every time, they will happily ask you security questions or text you a code to be sure you are who you say you are, etc. Here? Nope, nothing. The response by Eric and Chris was literally the same as if they had said, "Sorry, too bad, so sad, you're screwed." Three final comments. First, I asked Chris if he'd ever heard the phrase, "The customer is always right." He said he had. My response: "Well, here I am." Second, if I ever need a storage facility in Southlake again, I think I'll just leave my stuff on the street and keep my fingers crossed that it's not stolen. That would be a better option than giving this place even one more penny of my money. Third, they unilaterally raised the price of my unit from $37 to $93 per month without telling me. They claim they sent me a letter (of course they did, because they don't have email, cough, cough...) but I never got it. Putting aside whether they actually sent an email or were even contractually allowed to raise the rate unilaterally, it seems to me that raising the price 250% is a little greedy. The end. I recently toured this facility to relocate my current storage needs. I was taken on a tour and was very impressed with Aaron who was incredibly helpful. I was able to pickup additional packing supplies that really helped with packing this unit high and tight. (I originally had junk spread out - not noticing all the head space) This facility has ease of access and the security I was looking for. I did purchase additional insurance as you never know what could happen. The price is right for my needs and LOCATION!!!! PS This is a very clean location, that was a must for me. Great offers when you first move in. Prices will go up I can assure you. If you are only staying a few months, it works great. Sign up on line is easy but it will make you pay for lock (19.99) even if you don't want it. It will also automatically enroll you in insurance (12.00). Property manager in Grapevine, TX location is never there and is overally fake nice when you finally catch her there. You have to find them open to return the lock you didn't want. The email tells you to show proof of insurance and they will cancel the insurance they enroll you in but she said she didn't want to see it. She reluctantly removed it after refusing to look at what I printed for her. I'm not sure the reason they need her since everything is done online. read more

I had an exceptional experience right from the start with the Southlake Location. When I called to get more information before signing up, I spoke with Kay who was so nice and helpful! When I signed up, Aaron was beyond knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly! I really like how they offer everything you need including boxes, tape, etc. Also I felt very comfortable using this storage unit because of the level of security taken here! Management was considerate and very helpful to me while making arrangements. The facility is very safe and secure. This is my first time using public storage and it's hands down the most stream-lined process for storing I've used. The price for my unit was more than fair and Their online reservation process meant I didn't have to interact with anyone physically which is a plus during these crazy times. When I arrived at my unit it was clean and all my necessary information was safely stored inside. First off allow me to say that the person who attended us was very friendly. Stacy was very knowledgeable. The units, new facility, are great. So here goes. We reserved online "Total Move-in Cost": $25.00 for a 10x10 unit. This will change due to being a administration fee of $24 and the $1 for the first month. We arrive for our appointment. The attendant proceeds to ask us questions on the unit size what we will be storing. She then tells us she will show us a 10x20. You never know you might need something bigger or smaller. We politely declined and let her know we have another appointment after and we want to view the 10x10 we reserved. We head to the until and see that we have a floor storage and of course they are new and we gladly accept the storage. While we are signing away our month to month comes the added prices. The storage cylinder lock is $19; insurance minimum $11, and the 15% a month that was online is for the $53 monthly.. Be prepared for costs not listed on the website. My email read "Total Move-in Cost": $25.00 and $53.00 a month. We did not see no (*) to indicate the additional one time cost of the cylinder lock and insurance. We also were under the impression that 15% would be honored for reserving online. So although this is a new and great place be prepared for price's. A simple note: Call your insurance a head of time and se if your insurance coverage off storage insurance. If it does you will save $11-18 a month on top of what he monthly rental is. We slept on it and ended up returning to rent the unit. read more

I loved the facility at first, so clean and reasonably priced! But, that is where "reasonable" stops. I fell out of work and as a Gen Xer, jobs have been tough to come by. At the end of the day, I had to keep the roof over my head vs. my important things I needed to keep after a horrible moving experience. Public Storage levied humongous fees on a two-month behind space, rendering it unattainable to me. So they auctioned it out from in under me. I do NOT recommend Public Storage if you have even a wisp of a chance of being late EVER. Go somewhere where the people are nice BUT HUMAN BEINGS TOO. Now they want money they couldn't get out from the auction. Sorry, I don't pay thieves. read more

I rented a 10 X 10 climate controlled first floor unit to store some of our furniture in. This facility is super clean, and super automated. However, I just received notice that my monthly rent will be going up effective January, 2020. Please keep in mind, I am very aware of price increases, especially at a storage facility. This is not my first storage facility to rent from. What shocked me was the amount! They are raising my monthly rent $24 dollars a month. Seriously Public Storage! This is overkill, and total price gouging. This comes to $288 annual increase. So, I just submitted my move out notice effective 12/31/2019. Had the price increase been more reasonable, I would gladly stay, but this is too much. If you are looking for a long term storage facility, this is not the place. You'll be paying a mortgage payment after a few years. read more
