I've NEVER had this issue with any other storage unit in my LIFE. Some increase by 10% after 6 months some its a year but never in my life have I seen a company this GREEDY and PREDITORY. DO NOT PUT ON AUTO CHARGES THAT'S HOW THEY GET YOU. A $90 increase for a unit that is currently less at FULL PRICE on their website. Do NOT trust the good reviews the staff ask you to leave them when you first get there. There are many others like me with the same issue. They are no better then thugs who shake you down.

The rat pictured is one of seemingly several to have infested my Extra Space Storage unit (Unit…read more1043 on Belcher Rd. S. in Largo). The other image is of droppings (and styrofoam from a new, still boxed piece of exercise equipment) and a urine stain. There was no food source in the unit -- only woodworking tools, yard tools and exercise equipment. In addition to the rats, the unit had roaches and ants -- and lizards, which were feeding on these otherwise uncontrolled pests. I requested a cleanup, and they refused. I requested help moving out, and they refused. I requested compensation for the cost of the two movers and a truck I had to hire to vacate the unit, and they refused. Renter beware... I was told by the onsite property manager that I would receive contact information for someone within their corporate structure, but this information was not provided. I have made calls to their corporate office in Utah, but the phone system directs me back to the rental site. They did tell me that I should have purchased *their* insurance -- though I am not making a claim for any contents, despite having to clean off rat droppings and urine. I have requested only a reimbursement for the expense of moving out. Not sure of the risk from exposure to rats and all they leave behind, but the smell was horrible...
