I give it a 0 for honest disclosure of policies. What is a consumer to do other than ask for the particulars- i.e. These questions were asked before the sale. Q.Can I cancel this without penalty? A. Oh- yes. You have 24 hours to cancel. Q. And I will get a refund? A. Yes-- you will be refunded the amount charged for a period up to 24 hours. The agent girl was pushy and brash- and in need of a Miss Manners course in honesty and dignity. I call one hour after the sale to cance. The young guy said this: Don't you worry mam- you will get a full refund. Truth is I was charged an administration fee of 29.99- Now what is a consumer to do when they ask the correct questions! So- the answer is no refund for an administration fee and that is final. Ignore the fact that I asked a straight- clear question and got a crooked answer. The rush job of this very poor customer service agent should be an embarrassment to her as an employee- unless they are taught not to disclose information even when the customer is thoughtful enough- careful enough to ask a simple question. And customer service does not provide service but short abrupt clear answers---- the answer are clear niw--- Now the plain and simple- understandable- reasonable question answered with a 'NO'------- You do not get a full refund, and that's final!!! I find it strange that truth is made plain and simple after they have been caught-can't lie now. Don't you? Too late consumer. You should have read the fine print. So- much for the spoken word! I have no tolerance for such practices. It could have been five bucks or ten bucks - it doesn't matter. This is wrong and they are calling it right. It's written in the fine print- Yes- after one asks- after one gives their CC number. Not good- I think the units are clean and convenient and they do have some excellent specials- but this incident of hidden information- after asking for specifics is nothing but disrespect- disregard for the consumer --that keeps them going strong- in business. -- It is a matter of principle- of proper business decorum - Oh well. It's not a lot of money. It's the lack of good business practices --- the nonsense that people who are pretty honest have to put up with. Oh well. read more

I recently left some things outside my storage unit E142 in East Avenue, Rochester, NY. I communicated with Kayla the manager that I needed a dumpster, I'm a disabled military USAF veteran. I took my lock and my unit was clean and empty. Some things were left downstairs on the first floor. Kayla moved my few garbage -wanting things back in my unit and put a new lock on. This is now a matter of legal principles and indicative of the poor customer service I have repeatingly gotten which included the elevator not working for weeks several times. I even offered to pay Kayla to remove the few things there, but she told me 'her dumpster is full'. I'm frustrated and will resolve this matter to my satisfaction legally and will not be treated in this manner. read more

The "No Price Raising" spiel that they give you when they first rent out a unit to you is BS. My rent has gone up nearly $200 since I started using Public Storage. Also, there is very obvious signs of mold on the inside of my unit, meaning that water gets in. I've also noticed MULTIPLE rat droppings and I've talked to other customers and they say the same. The property manager is never helpful and instead opts to insult & berate you. I feel extremely disappointed in myself that I chose this place. Do not go here. read more

This business is so terrible. I was charged for a lock that I never received and I have talked to both Kayla and the corporate people and no one is willing to give me a lock or refund my money. Three months in they have raised my storage rent over a $100 a month to almost $300! This is a shady business that is not upfront about pricing. I would give them negative stars if I could. You are better off getting a bum to watch your belongings because these people are not trustworthy AT ALL. read more

This is the trashiest, most expensive place to rent in Rochester. The "property manager" is never on property and you have to make an appointment with staff to get help. Hope you're not coming from out of town or state because it could be 72 hours before they help you! If you request maintenance on your unit, they ignore you. And forget about a refund on the lock they automatically charge you for! I brought my own and never saw a refund. I will never rent from them again and if you're smart you'll avoid them as well. read more

I haven't had the worst experience, but I pretty much got ripped off. First, they offer the first month at $1. What they do not tell you is that they charge $25 for that promotion plus mandatory insurance. At face value, one would think that $1 includes all that. Second, as accessible as they may be, you will be locked in/out after 9pm. Third, their units are sooo rusted, broken down and old. The handle on my unit is literally rotted. How much can it possibly cost to replace the handle?!? Hard lesson learned for my first storage unit rental. read more

No, please find somewhere else. Just had a 23% annual raise; service very unfriendly. No help or leniency during COVID at all. Miss a payment, killer late fees and your unit gets auctioned in approx 45 days. Also have a unit at LifeStorage and they've been great. read more

As a newbie it was my first time renting a storage and I have to say customer service was poorly. I needed help with access code and how to get my key. It took me forever to find my storage. There was a lady there who did not help me and yelled at me through out the window. My light bulb in my storage area was broken and I could not see. read more

Horrible. On 3/08 I rented a 5x10 unit for $57 a month , the first month supposed to be $1. After administration fees and what not it still debited $57 and change from our debit card, I shrugged it off figuring that's how they hook ,line, and sink you... fast forward to today, 03/10, my husband goes to look at the unit. And realizes it's an upstairs/inside unit. Not going to work at all for what we need . I go on the website where you absolutely cannot find a phone # for the local office, and start A chat, I'm finally given an unlisted # , I call and leave a voice-mail, "Amanda " calls me back, says ohhh yeah sorry about that, I do have a downstairs inside unit available, same exact size, but it's $100 a month. I also have a 10x20 outside unit available. I said no ,none of those options are going to work. She says ,the only thing I can refund to you is the $21.59 lock fee.. ok?? After thorough research, I helped my girlfriend move her belongings into this storage facility. The front desk girl told her that the $150/mo fee wouldn't go up. 5 payments have been made and suddenly the fee was raised $19 more. After calling to complain, they said they can raise it anytime they want because it's a month to month agreement. They also said they can raise it every 6-12 months. We were deceived by Public Storage and their representative. Be careful! Once they have your stuff, they will jack your price up. There is no contract or lease to prevent that. That's sleazy. Mandatory insurance is imposed on you regardless of whether or not your stuff maybe covered by another policy like homeowners or renters. Maybe I just don't want your damn insurance. This is another scam to bilk more money out of you. The place is dirty and not well maintained either. My car bottomed out on the very irregular paved surface. The hallways were filthy. The doors were left open and didn't close properly. read more

***Beware*** These people tell you in person that the rate you are getting when you sign up is the rate you will keep while you hold the unit! LIE!! After having my unit for 5 months my new charge is $19 higher. After calling customer service (who are awful) I was rudely told that I should've been notified by a post card to my address and that the rental charge can increase every 5 - 12 months!! Seriously!?! Do not get a unit with this storage place. I will be getting my stuff out as soon as I can. read more

This place is run down with pot holes and dirt on the walls. The sliding door to the storage building falls off the hinges. They keep trash overflowing in and around the garbage bin. The district manage isn't very responsible and horrible with responses to questions and concerns. read more

I had a horrible experience today. Using them for over a year paying 140 a month to store an antique cabinet. Today their lock and key which I was told was mandatory to use key broke off in lock. I was told I would have to hire a locksmith to cut off their lock which was mandatory to use!!!!! When I asked to talk with the associates supervisor I got a recording.I left 2 messages with no return call. When I went back the second time the associated\ (Emily) was on phone and barely acknowledged me!!!! Very poor customer service and very high fees!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY read more

The physical plant is pretty much the same as other options, but what makes this place 5-star for me is the customer service, and especially the fantastic manager there, Ms. Crane. She and other front office people have gone above & beyond to help me deal with my storage there.
