The Miller Place, NY location is the worst public storage I have ever used. First of all no one is ever in the office nor answers your calls. There is one elevator for the whole damn building. I reserved a spot closest to the elevator and they put me closest to a set of stairs no elevator. Dont waste your money going to this location, its horrible and there is no ac if it gets over 90 outside. read more

Horrible! the guy at the desk told me I needed to go back to my unit and leave the door open and unlocked. on my way to go reopen the empty unit door he deactivated my account and I got stuck on the property and none of the keypads would work. I ended up calling the office and he admitted to deactivating my account after he sent me back in to open the door of the unit. I am 6 months pregnant and its close to 100 degrees out and I'm walking back and forth stuck on the property seeing if my code will work at different locations and on top of that they don't give prorated refunds and the whole month is paid for and they can't find my rental agreement. read more

PUBLIC STORAGE is perhaps the worst company in history. They raised my rent 25 percent after a year and several months. I would stay away from them at all costs. If I ever need to store again i would burn it before using them. read more

THEY HAVE GOTTEN ABOUT $50K FROM ME SINCE 2013. They do not do anything for long time, good customers. I have never been late with my payments. I pay $392 a month for my storage unit. I have dealt with false accusations of living there...A LIE !! there customer service needs improvement. when they close for repairs we do not get anything taken off the bill. I AM FED UP WITH THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN TODAYS WORLD The local fast food places are the worst but the workers want $15 per hour. read more

I rented for long term storage, never once did I get an email about fees being raised, I had automatic withdrawal on and they didn't take money out and charged me a late fee, no one ever answers the phone or returns your call, when I moved out I set it up from the app as they request you use since the people employed there don't exist and they charged me another month. Place is full of bugs they should get an exterminator with all the money in fees they charge never again read more

Public storage raises your rates exorbitantly every six months with no explanation. They aren't providing any actual service, just space, so there's no logical reason for these increases. read more

There should be pre-information on elevator and staircase size when given a second level storage unit. We had a very difficult time getting our items up to the second level and maneuvering through the hallways. read more

BUYER BE AWARE! Just received notice of a 40% increase of my monthly rental rent. When I called the property manager she was unaware and says that is done by corporate. I called corporate and was unable to get a live person on the phone. I started Jan 2019 at $109/mth, then Oct 2011 went to $224/mth and now $312/mth. I feel they do this since most people are on autopay so they rely on people not paying attention to their bills. read more

I've been a PS Miller Place client for more than 8 years and never had a problem - I paid my monthly bill on time, utilizing auto-pay, and at one point, had 2 units, totaling almost $500/month. For years I had a 10X10, then added a 10X5 and, recently, due to the increasing costs, I decided to downsize, and went to a 10X5 and 5X5. Shortly afterwards, I emptied the 5X5 on December 30th, and was assured I would receive an email confirming the vacancy and would not be charged for January. You can imagine my dismay when, on January 2nd, not only did I receive notice that I vacated on January 2nd, but was also billed for the month of January! REPEATED emails and calls and conversations with staff and the DM have afforded me no restitution, even though I was told that corrections were made to my account and that, as of January 4th, I would be credited and returned the monies charged. However I was also told that it would be mailed to me - not credited back to my card. That was 24 days ago and I still don't have my money. I would assume that it would be safe to say that I will not be getting any interest on it when - IF ? - it is returned? Too bad they didn't dock the staff member responsible for the error! Perhaps she'd do a better job in the future! WARNING to anyone renting at Miller Place PS - don't trust the staff's word that they will email you a receipt - get one before you leave!!!!! read more

We used Public Storage in Miller Place to store some furniture for about a year and a half while we did a home renovation. We originally intended to use the Mount Sinai location, because it was closer, but we decided on the Miller Place location instead because: 1. They had better prices. 2. The staff was friendlier. And, 3. The Miller Place location was a lot cleaner. Make sure you measure the locker you intend to rent before booking it. The locker sizes advertised aren't exact, so make sure your things will fit. I originally thought we could rent a smaller unit but it just didn't work out. Our rent was raised twice during our term, maybe 25% overall. Some people get mad about this. But, they explain it to you when you sign up and you always get notice. It is a business. It makes sense and I always felt the rent increases were fair. The facility is kept very clean. That was most important to me, no mildew smells or water problems. There were times when we would go months without checking on our things. Everything was always exactly how we left it. This facility is very safe. We finished emptying our locker yesterday. Yay! One less bill to pay:) If I needed a storage locker again, I would definitely go back. If you need a storage locker in the area, I checked a lot out. This is the best overall. Make sure to go online to reserve your space. You will get extra discounts. read more

Beware of crazy rent increases! Mine went up a whopping 35% in a little over a year. Price of rent went up almost immediately after I got the unit and continues to climb every few months. I emailed corporate and they're solution was to decrease the size of my unit! Wtf?!? If I could fit my stuff in a smaller unit I wouldn't have rented the size I have. I pay my bill on time every month and this is what you get. read more

Absolutely the worst waste of money. I went there because I needed climate controlled. I went there last week to pick up some stuff, walked into the building, it reeked of mildew. Opened my unit, every single cardboard box was wet/damp and smelled like mildew. The front office is of ZERO assistance ever. The "property manager" who allegedly lives on site is NEVER anywhere to be found. "Shannon" the only employee that ever seems to be there, never knows where the manager is, never knows where the keys are to unlock the dolly, office is always locked with a "will return in an hour" sign in the door, as she's out back smoking and hanging out with her friends. Good luck trying to get anyone on the phone. I went there on Monday and not only was the entire office gone (completely empty) not one employee to be found. Rat traps all over the place. I now get to spend another entire weekend moving my stuff out of this rathole. Do NOT leave anything you care about here. read more

Scott & Cindy were very friendly & helpful, showed us what the unit looked like and answered all of our questions. Thought the price for the unit was very fair, I've rented at a few different storage facilities in other states and this has by far been the easiest & best experience I've had with one so far! This is the worst place you can give any business to they increase your rent every three months starts out at 100 and then you're up to 400 before you know it they lock you out of the unit if you're a little late people are rude terrible terrible business people worst place you could ever go. It would be nice if someone was in the building or if they answered the phone. everytime I go there no one is there and the place is locked up and if call and leave messages, no one gets back to me. While Public Storage will be friendly and seem accommodating in the beginning, after you are a customer and have left your belongings in their custody, they will take advantage of that circumstance and consistently raise your storage costs an average of 11% every six months. I have been a customer for 8 years and they are very consistent with their rent increases. Allegedly, they price your rent at market prices (what the market will bear), but they have never offered to lower the rent, even if other storage spaces of the same size in the same facility with the same features (climate control) are being advertised at substantially lower rates. Keep in mind that the rent you pay is not standardized by the space, but is determined by what Public Storage can get for the price. If you have a 5x5 or 10x10 storage space, you may pay between 100 - 200 difference for the same space in the same exact facility, even if the spaces are next to one another. In other words, if you pay $190 per month for your space, the person next to you may be paying $105 for the same identical space. Again, Public Storage determines the prices based on what they can get first through the market, and then through consistent rent increases. The idea presumably, is to gouge the customer - afterall, there will always be another sucker out there to replace you should you move out. Of course, when you do move, Public Storage may drop the price of the unit that you were in by as much as $80 to $100 to lure in a new mark, and then play the same game with them. You should be advised that this is their corporate strategy that they perform around the U.S. It is not unique to Miller Place or Long Island. The people who work in the local facility have no say or authority in the pricing of the units. They just work there. Just beware that this consistent rental price jacking is a conscious strategy that the corporation (which is exempt from U.S. Federal taxes by the way, because it is a REIT) plays. The front office will not advise you of the size of the rent increases ahead of time, so beware of where you tread. Good luck and may the Force be with you. read more
