They do not honor their word: Two weeks prior to the last day of billing I spoke with them about moving out since I had moved and didn't need my storage. She said I had to fill out paperwork or something, didn't mention the lock and such. Then she called me the day before the last day to tell me I wouldn't be cancelled because I needed to come back and do my lock and remove a bike in there. Due to work, I needed an evening to come back since I now live 50 miles away. The person agreed for my arrival on Tuesday evening on a Monday and then they sent me a Past Due late notice for the very thing we agreed on that Tuesday. The management on property is terrible and unprofessional: The lady did not keep her word! Bad business ethics. Worse than this is the fact that they are consistently not at the property when their posted hours are. Not sure if the owner knows that or not, but it was sometimes hard to get a hold of them or get help from them onsite. She brings her kids to work with her in the summer too, which I get sometimes, but not the whole summer basically last year. The experience was terrible: Overall, I had a terrible experience with people who over-charge, didn't keep their word or provide decent service. It sucked. The units are good, but not worth the risk of management that don't care and don't have enough cameras to make up for it: Trust me, call anyone but them in Midlothian and you will be better off. Don't let the property fool you, it is nice but the person running it over there is not going to be helpful to you.

We had been in this storage unit for almost 10 years with no issues until now. All of our items are for decorating events and kept in bins or boxes, we don't keep food or anything to attract rodents. We noticed the poison bait all around the property... and then we found a dead rat in our unit. Not pleased to say the least as I am terrified of rats!! No one was on site to dispose of it so I had to do so myself. We had a large unit which took over a week for us to clean the bins from rat feces and urine and relocate. Our rent wasn't waived, no discount for the inconvenience, nothing; and we had to pay $400 to move into our new unit and still pay full rent at Cubesmart!! On top of that, we had to throw away some of our silk flowers and other items because they smelled like urine. I don't blame the management for the issue, but once the issue was known to them, a proper warning could have been provided to the occupants and a better way to exterminate the rats rather than poison them knowing they would crawl into a unit to die! Totally disappointed in this outcome.

I made a reservation on December 22, 2025, with a scheduled move-in date of January 11, 2026. On December 29, 2025, I called to cancel the reservation and request a refund since my plans had changed well in advance. I was informed that I would only receive a refund for the lock cylinder/merchandise, but not the $30 administrative fee. When I asked what the $30 admin fee covered or what service had already been performed, the representative could not provide a clear explanation. Given that my move-in date was still weeks away and the reservation was made only a week prior, this policy feels unreasonable. I also asked if the $30 could be applied or credited toward a future rental (as I may need storage in February), but customer service said no. To make matters worse, the representative I spoke with could not transfer me to a supervisor or anyone higher to help resolve the issue amicably. This has been a very disappointing experience for a first-time customer. Based on this interaction alone, I will not be using Public Storage in the future and would not recommend it to others. Look for other storage options. Not recommended.

They charge a $20.00 convenience fee just to talk to a person other than the property manager. Ridiculous! I also got charged for inadvertently leaving two 5 gallon water bottles on the curb while I was helping my daughter remove some of her items. When I realized it and returned the bottles were gone and I was charged $25.00. Then they said that they could not return the bottles because they destroyed them. I just wonder what they would do if a really valuable item was inadvertently left behind? Would they destroy it also just to collect a$25.00 fee? I was told by the property manager that this charge was non-negotiable. I had previously rented a unit at another less convenient location for years. I have been renting from Public Storage for a total of 11 years (all on Auto-Pay) and this is the kind of friviolous action they choose to use for a long term renter. Although it is a major inconvenience to move to another storage company, I am moving out by the end of the month and will never rent from them again, nor will I recommend them to any one else. Be warned!
