After talking to so many places we landed here. The prices are fair, they had a number of units available and all are drive up units. Jessica was great and extremely helpful! She called right after the online reservation was made and we were all squared away and set up same day. Prices seem to be all of the place depending on which company you call and where it's located. The employees have been friendly any time I've dealt with them and the storage space has been secure, if a tad dusty. My low score comes from the fact that my unit is currently up to over $200 dollars when new customers are offered less than $50 and nearby competitors are similarly priced. At this point it is well worth moving out to save nearly $2,000. I reached out to the local and corporate numbers to see if there was anything they could adjust and was offered a roughly 10% discount. I understand that new customer pricing exists but to be charged almost 5x that as a continuing customer seems outrageous. read more

Went to the Plymouth Road Livonia, MI location to purchase moving boxes. Arrived and door was locked. Sign on door said "We're Open!". Called number stenciled on door. It rolled to call center. They told me "wait a few minutes, the manager must be on an appointment" (I have no idea what that means). I waited 20 minutes, then gave up. Two other customers parked and waited also. They left before me. I drove two miles down the street to a grocery store and they gave me boxes for FREE. This place has lost my business. These places get bigger and the quality gets lower. FYI: if you think I'm being arrogant, think again. I used to manage this store when it was Shurgard Storage. Front call box was connected to walkie-talkies during business hours. If we were on the grounds, or even away getting lunch, it rang through to the walkies. Still trying to figure out what "manager is on appointment" means. read more

I'm only here because you asked me to write a review and I have to say this is awful you should not be doing business like this after all this big talk how great of a place this is there's no numbers on the storage facilities because they have been freshly painted like !!! So it's ours to figure out what's what....no water or fountain anywhere tol And why is it that I paid over $200 for a climate control facility yet it is a hotter in here than it is outside and you advertise one month free and I wasn't giving anything like that so I have a lot of problems with you guys now my first day already read more

My experience at this particular Public Storage has been good overall and the manager Kris, has been wonderful to work with. The only thing that has been a BIG damper is the constant rate increases; almost every 6 months. read more

The past two times I've tried to pay my bill at this place, there's a sign on the door with a clock that says something like "we will be back at _time". Yesterday when I first got there, it said 1:45 pm but it was already 2pm. I went back at 3pm on the same day and it said "be back at 4pm". I'm not living in the Livonia area and I couldn't stay all day waiting for this place to be available so I could pay a bill. I know times are tough but when you make it so difficult to pay your bill over the phone, or online, I don't have sympathy for a business with practices like that. I need to find a new storage unit. read more

I've had a unit here for about three years now, once my husband and I moved and realized we had WAY TOO MUCH furniture for people living in a tiny space (I have a problem with estate sales). We rented a unit for all the "extras," knowing in the long run $90 a month is WAY cheaper than having to rent a second apartment. Richard, the manager, is AMAZING. I was able to get the unit reserved online, and my husband and I can come in pretty much anytime if we need to get something or add something. We're not as close to this place as we once were, but we like knowing our things are safe, and we also sprung for the extra insurance, just in case. read more

I wish I could score them a negative 10. This is the only business I've ever found that feels justified in raising everyone's rates based on the availability of the same size unit you have. I've never had a hotel decide to charge me more while I was staying there because the last few vacant rooms are worth more money. I've never had a restaurant decide to charge me more for dinner while I am eating it because they are running out of prime rib. They know that you probably won't rent a moving van and move. When you call to complain at the main number they are arrogant assholes. Never never never rent here. read more

I would have given Public Storage a good review within the first few months. The only draw back was there is no lights in the units (I had 2 units). Neither lights worked. They still are broke after telling them. But, after only 5 months, they raised my 1 unit I had left, because I didn't need the other one after 5 months, they raised my monthly rental $22.00 a month!! After trying to call the property desk people at my site, customer service, the district manager and then back to the customer service with out no way to find out why it was increased so much. So.... Bottom line is, once you sign a contract, your stuck paying whatever amount they want increase it to. Further move m, I could move my things out and move back in to the same unit a week later for $10. Less. I feel ripped off! read more

From my first visit here while I was just researching options, the staff at Public Storage has always been professional, polite & accommodating. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the associate with whom I initially met; she was very helpful, gave me a tour of the facility, showed me the unit available to me - she helped me make my decision. About a week later I had an appointment to set up my rental and was assisted by D'Andrea, who was also a total pleasure to work with, very professional and efficient. (I am a little "old school" when it comes to the service industry; from attitude to attire, it is all important to me.) Public Storage appears to be a professional concern, from the clean, orderly & secure facility to the well trained and helpful associates. The only thing I would change: gate code assignment. The system-generated codes are long and very random. Yes, I know that's for greater security, but... That's minor and as long as I have the card or my cell phone on me, hopefully won't be an issue ;) read more
