I used public storage for eight months the price continued to go up and when I vacated eight days into the month I was told I would be issued a refund for the rest of the month not used and that was a lie. They do not refund you any money. I also asked what storage spaces were costing when I vacated for the same size unit and it was $50.00 less. Public storage is joke and the people that work there are unfriendly and not with the program. For a better term they are stupid and never at the facility and you can never reach anyone by phone. This is the public storage in Blue Springs anyway. I will never use them again the do nothing but steal your money. read more

Don't use this storage unless you absolutely must. Hours don't matter, they close 25-30 minutes early every day which is an issue if you work 9-5. Additionally, they will raise your rates 30%-50% every 6 months. Carts to help haul your stuff to your unit? There are zero left as they've allegedly been stolen, but corporate drags their heels to replace or fix anything. I pay for climate controlled storage and they used to have heating and cooling inside. It appears that is no longer the case. Lights in your unit? If they work, consider yourself lucky because when they go out, they will refuse to replace them for any reason under the sun. read more

This place is soooooo bad. I never leave reviews, but yikes. I stored items here for around a year and had 3 insurance claims... the first 2 because water was leaking into my unit, and the final one because of mice. So gross. Moved out after that one! Public Storage was of course alerted to all 3 of these issues and made no attempt to improve. The customer service is absolutely terrible. The women that work here are literally MEAN. I don't think I've ever been treated worse by an employee. The one exception being Tiffany, who is nice and tries to be helpful but always seems to hit a wall with management when trying to get things done. They also will just randomly not be open when they are supposed to be. And the lights burn out and are never replaced. By the time I moved out it was dark in my unit at all hours of the day. The moving company that moved out my things had to use flashlights to see what they were doing. To summarize... $200 a month for a pitch black storage unit filled with mice and water. And if you dare ask the people that work there to do their job they will look at you like you just spit in their face... that is if you can even catch them open to access your stuff. I noticed a public storage facility near my apartment building and I went in one Sunday and inquired about it and the lady (very nice and helpful) showed my fiance and I around and explained how to do everything online. I kept belongings here for a few months in between moves.I had a small 5x5 unit that was clean and decently easy to access. I got a roller cart(with no help from employees) to move my belongings and it was overall a smooth process. The reason for the low rating is poor customer service experienced on multiple occasions, and an expired elevator license. I was displeased with multiple customer service interactions. I was not given all the information I needed to move in (I wasn't told about the carts you could use- had to figure out on my own.) And was given an attitude by workers when I was trying to move-out. They failed to clearly explain to me the move-out process and one employee made a rude statement about me when she thought I could not hear. Save your money and get better customer service at other cheap storage options in the area..theres a storage mart right down the road. Also, I reported the expired license on the elevator. Zero stars! Just go to ExtraSpace Storage they have better facilities, superb customer service and will charge half the price. If for any reason you want to consider this facility, read this first! ---- Horrific customer service. The desk clerk Tiffany (Main St location, claimed to be the manager) is petty and tries to power trip on customers. Literally felt like I was dealing with a reject from Love & Hip Hop. She does not have the emotional intelligence necessary to ensure a pleasant experience for you. She is an obese African American woman with glasses and I advise you leave the building if you see her at the counter. She made trying to actually lease the unit an extremely unpleasant experience. She required appointments and was unwilling to see any new customers after 5 or 5:30PM (they close at 6 mind you), while other places were flexible. We were in the middle of a move and had to drop what we were doing to go get a unit as she wasn't willing to schedule any other time to see us that would work because we would interrupt her lunch. Once we got there the energy was still unpleasant. She told me she couldn't move forward with my reservation until I either agreed to get a lock through them or showed them one of my own (they cut the locks off the units if it is the "wrong" kind, whatever that means!) When I went outside to relay the information to my family, she shouted across the room that I was a liar and that she didn't say that . I told her frankly that I think her customer service could be better, and then she said that I was "rude" and told me that I was trouble (I guess because I told her the truth) and refused to lease me a unit. When I told her I was staying until I got a unit or filed a formal complaint, she called the police (mostly because it was after 1:30 and she wanted us to leave so she could go to lunch). I have never had the police called on me in my entire life and am shocked that someone would do that over something so trivial! Among the insults she threw at me was that I was "rude," "childish," "talking out of the side of my neck," and "unprofessional" It was clear she was just talking about herself and projecting that on me. She refused to give me her last name, a business card or the name of her manager, but I am persistent and will make sure a formal complaint is filed and followed up on. If you enjoy fighting mind numbing bureaucracy designed to block you, while being talked down to and having to pay for the privilege than these are the people for you! I was in a hurry so I selected this location and company without checking around first. Big mistake. Luckily they were so impossible to deal with (and so incompetent) I was never able to get them to take my money. I went to sign up online as their website advertises you can do... you can't. It is just a form to put you on an auto-dialer to complete another step of the drawn out process, before being sent to another step, etc. Their use of annoying auto-dialers has apparently gotten their number marked as a SPAM/FRAUD call so it was actually blocked by my phone company. So I called the local office number to find out what I had to do next. The local office number though actually goes to a call center in AZ. And no one at that call center can do anything but tell you to call the local office which again you can't do since the calls to the local number go to AZ. They also offered to take my number to have them call me, but as mentioned calls from their numbers are blocked for their SPAM dialing. Eventually the people in the AZ call center told me I would have to drive to the local office. So I did, only to find the local on-site office is locked even during business hours. The the employee inside just looked at me with disdain for trying to walk in their office front door during business hours. When I did eventually get in I was rudely told that since I did not have an appointment (which there was no way for me to know I needed or to make) I would have to just stand there for 30 to 40 min before she would help me even though there were no other customers there and she was not doing anything else. The cherry on top being since it was an hour away from closing time it was possible she might not help me at all that day (again still no one else there but me needing to give them money) and might have to come back tomorrow. The next morning before I could even go in I had an email from public storage asking me why I had canceled my reservation and asking me to to take a survey about why I hadn't chosen them when i had. Customer service promise something that they couldn't deliver. Because my payment to be late. Got late charges. Was current for a year until after speaking with customer service. Left messages for the district manager and his manager. Took eight voicemails before anyone called me back. District manager was nice enough to remove the late charge. Paid another payment through their website. It didn't post. Late again. Another late charge. Was current for 12 months prior. Oh and four months after I signed my contract they increased my rent by $20 a month and cited the fine print in the contract. read more

The location I go to is good, but I'm not sold on the company. I like the property manager and the help. They know what they are doing. My storage space is dry and in good condition. It's pretty much everything I could want in a storage space :) They do a good job at the location. I wasn't pleased that the company raised my monthly "rent" by over 25% after a few months. Called the available numbers and went up the chain as far as I could to figure out why and was told that it was "the executives" that made the decision. Based on increased costs. Wow. It's crazy that their costs can go up by over 25% in a few months. Anywho. Anytime I drop by the storage space everything goes smooth and quick, haven't had any issues at all. WORST customer service I've EVER received. I had a scheduled appointment at 1 but arrived to a locked office and no one available. Stood outside waiting for 10 minutes when she finally came back for my appointment. Tameika unlocked the door but didn't open it for me, sure, fine, ok. No greetings, no apologies, just a blank stare at me while I stated my reason for being there. I inquired about why she was late for the appointment and she said she was at the bank and she can't make them go faster. I said an apology or a greeting would've been nice. Instead of apologizing, she made excuses and blamed the bank for her poor management. She then patronized me by saying "Sorry that you had to wait 7 minutes, sorry they only had two tellers, sorry the bank was slow". Not only was she antagonizing and talking down to me but also giving me major attitude. I would not have made a big deal AT ALL if she just said "sorry for making you wait" when she finally appeared right from the get go. She then said "I don't know anybody who would smile after a root canal." What?! Didn't know having a bad day entitled you to treating customers like trash. I'm in retail and have bad days too, doesn't mean I take it out on everybody else. I told her to cancel my reservation as I refuse to get storage with customer service like hers and left. read more

Tameica is a poor excuse for a property manager. Today was my 3rd attempt at dropping off my key and lock with no resolution. The first 2 times I went during operating business hours, showed up, and the office was locked up with no sign of life. This third attempt I preceded my arrival with a phone call to ensure someone would be there. Miss Tameica Mcintosh-Gildon picked up the phone wherein I asked if the office was open. She acted like it was a dumb question, and I disregarded her attitude and indicated I would be there in 15 minutes. Upon my arrival, less than 15 minutes later, the office AGAIN was locked up and there were 2 other customers in line outside the door. I waited for about 35 minutes before deciding to drop my keys and lock in the payment box and leaving a voicemail to follow-up on where I had placed my storage key/lock. Later in the afternoon I received a call back where Miss Tameica left me a VERY COLORFUL voicemail (that I would love to play with anyone that has any authority over her) where she proceeded to advise me she is the only person that runs the place, she has other things to do, and she did not appreciate the manner in which I left my keys. The tone in her voice and her word choices in this voicemail is the epitome of AWFUL customer service! Again, I will play this voicemail for anyone who would like to hear the entertainment of Tameica and her side show circus that she calls a business. She needs a stern talking to if she thinks that she is giving her business a reputable name. read more

I have visited the Main Street location several times in the last month. First to inquire, second on follow up, third to finalize the unit I was interested in, and each time Le'Cira helped me. Le'Cira was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to give exemplary customer service. I've worked in retail and customer service for a number of years, and it's rare I come across a business or employee that has this level of customer service. I leased a larger unit and was given a tour and a security lock the day before my move in. Any questions or help I've needed the staff was on point and knew exactly how to provide assistance. I 100% recommend this Public Storage location to others. read more
