Great haunted house and ghoul pop up bar experience. Decorative building inside the house. Great staff costumes. Good theme. Menu items limited and not appealing in my opinion but drink choices were excellent. Electric Sideshow, injection, and the haunting of PSH was some purchased drinks I chose. Pumpkin cheesecake was disappointing. Very thick and bland and overpriced. Haunted house was longer and scarier than I imagined it would be. Staff did there job of scaring me repeatedly. We visited The Public School House for their Ghoul House and Haunted Trail event. We went on Family Night with our kids -- the trail was short but fun, and just spooky enough for younger ones. The Ghoul House itself was really cool and well-decorated for Halloween, with a great festive atmosphere. We ordered some food and drinks, which were decent, though definitely on the pricey side -- but we figured part of that cost goes toward the overall experience. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything ran smoothly despite the crowd. Overall, it was a fun seasonal outing for the family, and we'll likely go again next year! read more

I love this place for their pop up bar themes. I have been several times. It is always fun to see the themed decorations. This time they cut back in that department. It was a Wizard of Oz theme this time around. When I've gone for multiple holiday themes they go all out. The drinks and appetizers have catchy names and are served with great attention to detail. It seems to be the same drinks with different names for each theme. I wish there was more of a variety on occasion. I will definitely go back this fall for Halloween. It's by far the best! read more

I have been to this place a number of times and had a great time. This time 6/26 they charged a 3% venue fee and a 3% credit card surcharge to the bill. Wth! Ask before you place your order. The credit card process places the 25% tip as the default on the left side with the 22% in the middle and 18% tip on far right. Beware of this trap. My husband and I decided to FINALLY try this place out...I'm always hearing about their unique pop-ups so I kept an eye on when they were selling tickets for seating for their most recent pop-up, The Love Shack, and I actually scored tickets for the day before Valentine's Day. We walked in and were greeted right away and sat at our seats at the bar....the seats weren't the MOST comfortable especially for my husband who is a pretty big dude but we made it work. The bar tender was personable and we ordered our drinks and food right there. The drinks were super tasty and were great for the theme of The Love Shack! Super cute!!! The only complaint I would have is that for an alcoholic drink....you didn't feel anything. The lettuce wrapped meatballs were super delicious and the fries!!!!! Yummers!!!! The meat skewers were just okay.... I think this is someplace I would bring my girlfriends next time to!!! It was beautifully decorated and romantic...but, I feel like my girlfriends would have appreciated this more than my husband did! Been here for multiple pop up bars and the most recent one, Harry Potter, was a blast! They always go all out for decorations- the details are fantastic. We had a great experience this go around. Our reservation was 7-9pm, and we were seated promptly at a table for 6. Right when we walked in we saw all of the letters hanging from the ceiling, the sorting hat, house flags, and servers dressed up as characters. It's such a fun vibe. They have a limited menu, which makes sense since the stars of the show are the cocktails. These menus in particular fit the theme well, as they were newspapers. They had brats, chicken, and a tenderloin in puff pastry option. The drinks were awesome!! I got the Margarita which came with a side of butterfly pea flower syrup that made it purple. It was rimmed with black salt (again, the details). We also had the bamboozled shots, just like the beans in the books. These were soooo fun to try and guess what flavors they had! I ended up with snot lol- which was a lemon drop flavor. Kudos to the Public School House team. Can't wait for the next pop up! read more

I highly recommend setting an alarm for Public School House pop up bars! They do them for Valentine's Day, Alice and Wonderland, Christmas, and more! These reservations always sell you that's why I recommend setting an alarm. Sometimes I don't know who I am going with when I make a reservation, I just make it! This is a shoutout to the man behind the bar who clears everyones drinks, washes the glasses, and keeps everything clean. We were there last night on Valentine's Day, and he was working SO hard. I appreciate cleanliness more than the average customer. He made sure the place was spotless, was friendly, and had a great attitude. Toasted Chestnut - Holiday Popup Bar. This was beautifully decorated for holiday lights. The indoor restaurant was also nicely decorated and they have table available for reservations. As we didn't find a reservation, still decided to stop by and check out. Parking was troublesome, very less amount of parking spots , we were lucky to find a spot right in front of entrance. If you dont have reservations, they have tent behind the house, to accommodate the guests they also have a patio heater. Behind this house there is Christmas lights walk which is $8 per person. My friends and I came for the Christmas holiday pop up bar. The inside is so cute and festive. Every inch of the place is decked out in Christmas stuff! The service was very fast and quick which we liked since our reservation was for only 2 hours. The drinks were so good! We all ordered different drinks so we could try them all and there was not one I didn't like. We also got the shots and they were very big and just as good as the drinks. My favorite drink was the Russian nog. The food is from sugar fire and that was very good. We ordered the nachos and the meat balls. The meat balls were too sweet for my liking but good. The nachos were massive enough for 3 people to share and my favorite! The gave 4 stars instead of 5 because you have to pay to make a reservation and then the prices for the drinks and food were a little pricey considering we had to pay for the reservation. We have gone many times to this pop up bar and loved it. Just went to the Christmas pop up and it felt different this year. There at 6:30 and they were already out of egg rolls, ham sandwiches were not hot, one of the chicken sandwiches was so tough you couldn't bite it. Only could eat half of the cookie dessert as it was rock hard. The waitress was sweet but highly confused with our order when two people switched seats in our party. Drinks were forgotten, half our meals came out while the other half was delayed. Without us asking or complaining we were brought free ornament shots which shows they were aware that this experience was not up to par. Heard some complaints prior to coming about the food but came with an open mind. As we were walking to our car people were outside talking negatively about the food as well and issues. Don't know what exactly was going on with this pop up but maybe some adjustments should be made as every establishment should look at things and look to improve no matter what. The decor and some of the food and drinks were good esp the Merry Margarita I think some drinks esp some food should be ones that are more simple like a good salad, a warm seasonal soup etc. I have seen many reviews though the years saying some of the same things about the food and although trying fun new things is good it is also imp to have some food for less adventurous eaters looking to still enjoy some food, drinks and the atmosphere. I think listening to some of these reviews couldn't hurt. read more

I was recently at the Love Shack Valentine's pop-up with friends at the Public School House. The decorations were really high quality and they clearly put in a lot of work to create a fun vibe and some great photo spots. The building itself seemed like it was in great condition, clean, and well maintained. There was a decent sized parking lot outside. The cost of tickets/reservations was reasonable (about $10 pp), but this place sells out fast so book early! The 2 hour seating time seems reasonable since there is no music or anything for entertainment and you're just having a couple fancy drinks with friends for a couple hours. We had checked menu prices online and decided to eat elsewhere to save money so we didn't try the food, but the drinks were very high quality and creative. They made a lot of infusions, purees, and syrups and didn't just rely on regular-old fruit juices or liqueurs to make their fancy drinks. Prices were high but not astronomical, and the drinks were delicious, so it didn't feel like you were getting ripped off. They had decent wine and beer options and some really nice mocktail selections. We ordered a chocolate fondue plate and the quality of the chocolate and all of the dippables were very high, although some selections were a little questionable (I don't love dipping blackberries in chocolate). The location is pretty hard for people in the St. Louis county area. It's a long drive. I would like to see PSH partnering with some other local establishments so pop-up visitors know where to go next if they want to hang out in town past the end of their reservation. Cottleville is a long way to go to hang out for 2 hours and go straight home. Wait staff were very friendly and were very generous about taking photos for people. We waited quite a while for our first drinks but service sped up nicely after that and we never waited long for a check in. I have been to a bunch of pop ups in the area and I think this is the nicest I've been to. The quality of the decorations was top notch and the drinks were a step above the usual gimmicky dressed-up cheap liquor I have had at other pop-ups. read more

I have always wanted to go to a Public School House pop-up bar and who knew my first experience would be an Alice In Wonderland theme. For the record, I have never seen the movie so my wife and our friends had to fill in the details of the atmosphere. We had the VIP couch with 6 of our friends. The drink menu was extensive and they were very unique and delicious. I ordered the Old Fashioned, Who R U?, Down The Rabbit Hole and a City Wide. Each drink came with the option of adding a "Buzz Button". No one in our group had any idea what this was so we were informed this was a fruit you chew on both sides of your mouth and it provides a tingling and numbing sensation. Watching everyone's faces when they tried it was priceless! We ordered some food and the fried vegetables were delicious as well as the burgers which looked like a "Pretty Patty" from SpongeBob SquarePants. The waitresses/staff were very attentive and polite!
