This spot is absolutely gorgeous in the summer--watching the sunset here is simply breathtaking. The rooftop, however, can get quite crowded, and seating is usually reserved or only available if you get lucky. It's always a fun place to soak up the summer vibes. I stopped by for a quick prosecco, with a side of truffle fries and olives. The fries were a bit dry but the flavor was yummy!

Stayed here right after New Years for a few nights, and it had its ups and downs. Pros: Our room was cleaned daily, we had a great view of the city, and the food at the hotel was great. Cons: we asked for bathrobes multiple times and never received them, even after we were told they'd be sent to our room. It also seemed like we weren't allowed to just walk around the hotel? My friend and I returned from dinner one evening and were just poking around the building, and the staff would not leave us alone with, "what are you doing?" or "where are you going?" questions. It was quite annoying and we eventually just returned to our room because we felt like we were intruding at the hotel we paid to stay at. Not sure if it's a security thing, but I don't need people directing or questioning me in the building I'm paying to be in.

I love staying at this hotel. The rooms are chic and functional. They have free workout classes in the morning for guests on the 17th floor so there's a nice view. They also have some nice bars including a rooftop bar. The location in the Lower East Side is great as well, there are so many great food spots within walking distance. I don't recommend staying in a room on the lower floors near the club. Sometimes you can hear the club noises if you're trying to sleep. I tried the morning yoga class with Madeline and loved it! Indoor rooftop yoga is a great way to start the day. The views are nice and the teacher was great. Highly recommend checking out the workout classes here! It's free for guests of the hotel but anyone else can pay a fee to attend and signup online.

I was here for a (fashion) influencer event a few years ago and recently to stay in a room. PROS: The decor is absolutely gorgeous, their escalator is a well-known instaworthy backdrop, their public shared spaces are uplifting, and there's plenty of areas to work if you want a change of scenery or vibe. They also have faux fur blankets in the rooms that I've never seen offered elsewhere CONS: it gets LOUD on the weekends because a lot of people drink or party here and the standard rooms are surprisingly small.. like almost claustrophobic-level small

Love location, service and especially the lighting and hardwood floors in the rooms. I only stay here now in NYC because mindful its a very fun hotel. I love the wooden bedframe the most. Manager staff and front desk were mostly so helpful and kind to address concerns.

I was lucky enough to take Azin's Monday morning mat pilates on the rooftop! One of the coolest workouts I've done and a great perk at the Public Hotel. The rooftop has incredible views paired with Azin's amazing energy you will enjoy every minute. A must for anyone staying at the hotel or nearby for a drop in class. All equipment is provided.

How about having your employees be somewhat informed about customer service? With the exception of Alfonso, Sam the bartender and the woman that checked us into the hotel their help was wonderful. We tipped them generously. However, our experience was all over the place. Much like their lack of signage to any restroom whatsoever. Imagine you attend to your older friend or parent and while we are ordering our food at the counter and our friend needs to use the restroom. So our friend is sent off haphazardly without any clear instructions or any real help from the staff and she needs physical assistance as she uses a cane. She's told the restroom is downstairs. And she gets lost trying to find a way around taking the stairs. Thank goodness for Alfonso who once again recognizes her and kindly escorts her to the restroom. And another couple was wandering around looking for the same restroom. And the Lobby level bartender had an attitude. If you ask what is being served you shouldn't get an unpleasant attitude without eye contact like you are an annoyance. When you are paying this much for a stay it should be excellent staff and service. Unfortunately it was hit and miss. And that's not acceptable. We wanted to like it here and some things were really wonderful. But a junior manager defended the hotel when he called me personally after I requested a call. He told me most of the other hotels do not have signage for their restrooms in the area. Hotel Biz 101...... never make an excuse that other hotels do the very thing that has upset the guest.

Absolutely shocking experience at PUBLIC Hotel. I very rarely write negative reviews about a hotel. This was one of the most disappointing, and honestly disgusting, hotel stays I've ever had, especially for a so-called four-star property. We requested multiple times that our bedding be changed, and housekeeping never came to clean our sheets on our first day. Instead, around 8PM, we were handed sheets and told to change the bed ourselves because housekeeping was "done for the day." That alone is unacceptable at any hotel. But it got worse. One morning later, we woke up to bugs in bed, which I documented clearly on video and were identified as carpet beetles. Finding a bug in the bedding after being denied proper housekeeping is absolutely revolting and raises serious sanitation concerns. When we reported this, the situation was handled incredibly poorly. The hotel director dismissed it as probably a worm we supposedly brought in from outside, despite the video evidence showing a carpet beetle. The tone of the exchange felt minimizing and dismissive to the point of gaslighting, and at one point we were essentially told to "agree to disagree." The entire stay felt unsanitary, unprofessional, and nothing like what this hotel markets itself to be. If you value cleanliness, accountability, or basic hospitality, I would strongly reconsider staying here.

The entrance at Public Hotel is a whole moment--the lights leading up the staircase instantly set the mood. It's sleek, stylish, and gives off that NYC magic as soon as you walk in. I had a Negroni and my friend had tequila on the rocks. Both were solid and well made. Comfy drinks in a space that feels intimate but still lively. It's cozy, romantic, and the staff was super attentive without being overbearing. Great spot to hang out where you can actually hear your friends talk. Definitely coming back for the vibes alone.

PUBLIC tends to get quite a bit of negative reviews - so here is my point of view summarizing my week long birthday trip stay. TL;DR: PUBLIC was the perfect choice for my week-long birthday trip. It checked all the boxes: clean, conveniently located, aesthetically pleasing, and offering a quiet yet lively atmosphere. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay. While not without its flaws. Check-In: Arrived late at 9 PM and appreciated the fully automated, hassle-free check-in process. The elevators were fast, and my room was spotless and ready, which was exactly what I needed after a long flight. Room: The room was well-designed with plenty of counter and storage space--rare for NYC hotels. I loved the cozy couch nook with room underneath for luggage, making it perfect for relaxing without always being in bed. As someone who likes to keep things tidy even in a hotel room, it satisfied my organizing heart. Bathroom: Despite reviews about the lack of door causing water flow between the shower and bathroom. I had no issues with the glass-pane design. The shower was spacious, with great water pressure, and hooks made it practical. Definitely spacious for NYC standards. Cleaning: I typically do not opt for housekeeping, but I did request housekeeping come do trash removal since I stayed over three days. The staff was kind and efficient, no complaints. Location: PUBLIC's location is unbeatable. It is perfectly positioned as a central hub connecting Chinatown, FiDi, Tribeca, Midtown, and K-Town--all within a ~30-40 minute walk. I rarely needed the subway and enjoyed walking everywhere. As a huge foodie, I loved being so close to trendy and must-visit spots. This convenience was invaluable during my stay. Atmosphere: PUBLIC is clean, modern, and trendy but can feel a bit "elitist." If you don't fit the young, fashionable crowd, you might feel out of place. I kept to myself and enjoyed people-watching, especially at night when it turns into a lively club scene. Walking past the party crowd in my pajamas with takeout was oddly satisfying - who can relate to the feelings of JOMO. Perks: The coffee, breakfast, and juice bar were nice bonuses. Prices are comparable to other trendy spots in NYC, but cheaper options are easily available outside. Having an umbrella provided was perfect as it rained heavily 3 days I was there. Drawback: One star knocked off because the walls are THIN (guess that is how it is with NY architecture), nothing like a birthday wake up "call" at 4 AM to two people having *ahem and LOUDLY voicing their feelings. Definitely plan to be back when I return to NY!

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. This spot is super centrally located, and during NYFW was an affordable, clean, and hip spot to stay for a few days. I am familiar with CitizenM as I have been to their hotel bars in their Miami locations, but had never stayed at one. I truly enjoyed my experience here. From check in to ordering wine or coffee at the bar, to the room, it was all lovely. I will say, the room is quite small. But truly, what do you need a big room for when you're going to be exploring NYC all day? The bed we got was a king, and dare I say it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room is set up a bit like a studio, with two little closets which made it easy to organize and unpack, a small desk, and a vanity in the common area. The toilet and shower are together in what kind of looks like a spaceship capsule in the middle of the room. One cool thing is how high tech this hotel is - you have an ipad that controls everything in the room from the room temp, your blinds, to the TV, to connecting your devices to the TV to stream music, etc. In the lobby bar you can opt in for hotel breakfast buffet, but instead we would just grab coffees as we were getting ready. Grace at the bar was super friendly, as was all of the staff. My one area for improvement is the elevator. We received a notice that one of the three elevators was broken during our stay and every time we would get on the elevator it would take us multiple floors up before going down. Not the worst thing in the world, but just annoying if you're in a rush to get somewhere. If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel to stay with a friendly staff this hotel is your spot. You have multiple subway stations within a 1-2 minute walk which can easily get you to any neighborhood you want to go during your stay. Would definitely return!

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.

I got a petite room since I was traveling alone which I would not recommend for a couple, but for me it was perfect. The bathroom area was the best part and not at all an afterthought. They knew women would be coming and they nailed it, down to the magnifying mirror. Whenever you get to spend time with other book lovers, it's a plus, so I also very much loved being able to talk to people in the common room on the 2nd floor. Often times NYC misses this in their hotels. The books here aren't anything you really want to read so bring your own books but all in all 5+ stars for me!

Fellow bibliophiles will especially appreciate the concept of this book-laden bolthole. I really enjoyed being able to pop into the Reading Room at any time and get tea, water, fruit, and other snacks. The hotel's bar, Bookmarks, is a lovely space on the 14th floor to meet a friend for drinks, but make sure to get a reservation before heading up. Each floor of the Library Hotel is dedicated to one of the ten major categories of the Dewey Decimal system. My room was 800.003 Poetry, which is a petite room with one full bed. And when I say petite, I mean it! Think room for a bed and little else. But this is NYC so I didn't need much more. If you want to be in Midtown Manhattan, the Library Hotel is a perfect choice.

All the meeting rooms were clean and organized. We had over 1,000 conference attendees and needed ample space and everything went pretty smoothly. Temperature control was generally good, but got a tiny bit chilly at certain points of the day. The staff were extremely prompt with setting up and removing catering food, but were not the friendliest. They have a free standing pumping station for those that need it. It was easy to access and decently clean, but could've used a wipe down by the second day. They provided a mini fridge in one of the meeting rooms for storage.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! DO NOT BOOK HERE!…read more I came here around April for a work trip and no where on the reservation page did it say that the hotel was under construction. They also offered the price including breakfast. Arrived at the hotel and saw that they only had one working elevator for a hotel that was over 20 floors high. There was a line for the elevator that you had to wait for at least 20 minutes to take. I asked the about the breakfast and they said the restaurant was closed so no hot breakfast. Why is this hotel offering a room rate price with breakfast when there is no restaurant for breakfast?! They told me they had bagged breakfast, which was always gone and coffee was all gone too. Took over 10 minutes to wait for new coffee to arrive. Renovation work bright and early at 8am. I was offered loyalty points for compensation by the manager, Delanie, and these points never showed up. I was also mistakenly charged for drinking their water bottles when I didn't even touch those bottles. They never even told me that I was going to be charged after checking out. I just saw a random extra charge on my credit card. The manager, Delanie, had said this would be refunded, but never saw this refund come through just like the loyalty points.
