We loved our one night stay at the Washington House Inn in Cedarburg, WI!!…read moreThe inn is charming, the hospitality was extraordinary, and our room was spotless and lovely!! We really enjoyed our wine, cheese/crackers last night before dinner and our breakfast this morning was outstanding! We will most definitely come back and we strongly suggest that anyone looking for a perfect get away to Wisconsin should put Washington House Inn at the top of their list for a perfectly wonderful place to stay. I've stayed at the Inn a couple times since 2008, and must say that the building itself is…read moreincredibly impressive. It's absolutely breathtaking, and in a perfect location - I recommend that you start your morning with a walk around Fowler Lake... it'll help you burn off a few calories from breakfast! So, I've stayed in rooms 6, 12, and 14. Of those rooms, 6 is by far the most impressive. It is one of the most expensive rooms, but well worth every penny. Room 14 is on the cheap side, and also worth the money. I honestly can't say the same for 12... while the bathroom is incredibly beautiful and includes a huge garden tub, the room itself is pretty dark and only has two very small windows. However, that beautiful bathroom is actually inside one of the turrets, so that's pretty cool, too. To get a five star review, the staff really needs to step up their game. We stayed for three nights, and towels / soap / shampoo / conditioner were never replaced. Trash was not taken out. Beds were not made. If I'm paying $200 a night, I do expect those things to be flawlessly taken care of. If it weren't for the building itself, this really would be more of a 3 star review. That being said, the innkeeper was very nice - and we did track anyone down to ask for new towels, etc. So, I certainly can't say we were refused. My tip to you would be that when you check in, ensure that those things will be taken care of if you require them for your stay.

Chose to stay at the Heritage Inn while visiting Waterloo for the Trek 100 ride (Trek 50 edition)…read more Watertown is on our way from Chicago and puts us closer to Waterloo than from Madison which would have been a farther trip for us. Manager on duty answered my call on check in day to confirm we had a 1st floor room (rolling in bikes) and give us an orientation when we checked in. Took care of getting me a replacement light bulb for one on the fritz. For $120 a night (no minimum stay), we got a fireplace suite double queen. Didn't test the fireplace but it had a serviceable coffee table, couch seating for three (no sofabed) and also a separate desk to work at. Fridge and freezer included. I forgot that there was vending in the building and Hardee's across the street closes at 10 p.m.! Beds were comfortable and shower was efficient. Inside/outside sinks make it easier for folks to get ready. Relaxed - did not test TV for streaming. Wifi was fine. Sorry no photo! No frills inn - so lobby is small for seating, so some folks hung out outside to enjoy the great Friday evening. Folks are friendly enough...don't get nervous and think it is nefarious loitering...not your town. Evening was quiet - slept well to sunrise.

The building itself is definitely old and the ac units in the room are loud and the blinds are pretty see through, making it both loud and bright in the room. I came with ear plugs and a sleeping mask so it worked out for me. The furniture is a bit sparse all around, but still a nice inn and place to stay. The parking is free and there is plenty around the building and it was nice to be close by a coffee shop. The inn provides a lot of food recommendations and things to do nearby.
