That could have been the end of it. Instead he stayed on with me. I'm a first-time homebuyer and I don't know much of anything about how houses actually work. I asked him a hundred questions that had nothing to do with drywall, and he answered every one of them -- patiently, in plain language, knowing full well I wasn't going to be a paying customer. He pointed out a few things I hadn't thought to look at. Not once did he make me feel small for not knowing. You could tell he wasn't doing it for the job. He was doing it because that's who he is, and because he could tell I was a little over my head. In my experience that's rare anywhere, and rarer in the trades, where it's easy to take advantage of someone who doesn't know what they're looking at. Jim did the opposite. I haven't hired him yet -- the work I needed just wasn't his scope. But the moment I have drywall to do, Peña Drywall is the only call I'm making, and I'll be sending people his way in the meantime. He recommended a handyman when we asked who could help replace our shower door. Once we addressed the source of the leak, Ronnie came back. Had a small hole cut in the wall to confirm the surrounding wood & drywall didn't have mold or extensive damage, which was a huge relief. He showed us pictures as well. Hole was patched up within hours. He and Diego let us know when everything would be dry and ready for prime and paint (which we did ourselves). My project included four bedrooms and the adjacent hallways. I originally hired a recommended drywall contractor to replace the existing drywall on several walls, fix nail pops in the ceiling, skim coat everything and retexture. After four days of poor and sloppy work, I let go the original contractor and hired Mr. Singh. The quality of work was excellent. My original contractor re-screwed the ceiling at each nail pop. Mr. Singh's team re-screwed the entire ceiling along each joist and re-taped each inside corner. Extra layers of mud were added to flatten wavy wall sections. The level of professionalism was equally excellent. Mr. Singh is a great communicator - from working with me to set a starting date to describing the flow of work, he kept me well informed. My highest praise is for the customer service. Mr. Singh encouraged me to review the work after he and his team had left for the day and tell him if anything seemed unsatisfactory. When the job was complete, Mr. Singh asked me if he and his team met my expectations.
