I met Kimberly Montleau during my mother's 10 day stay at Pinecrest Rehabilitation Center (in patient) in June. Her stroke left her with limitations with her balance, her coordination and function of her left foot, but above all else, the stroke left my mom incapacitated with fear. My dad died only a year prior and we had hopes that she would grow more courageous and independent in the wake of her grief. Instead, this stroke made her shrink in every way. Of all of the medical staff we encountered, Kimberly introduced so much hope and optimism into the beginning of this long recovery. She made our family feel special and like my mom was the most important patient in the hospital. She taught my mom how to hold her head high, to dance, and to believe that she WILL get better. This has been a long road of rehabilitation weighted by grief and some dark days, but our short time in working with Kimberly left a lasting impression that we reference so often. My hope is that you let her know how much she has helped us. Every single patient should be so fortunate to have an occupational therapy experience with an angel like her.
