The day I met Dr. Gabriella Gerstle I related a true story to her about my late husband. Although she made no mention of it to me at the time, evidently she didn't believe what I told her had actually occurred. Instead, she took it upon herself to record in my permanent medical record that I was "delusional." The nerve! Especially with her knowing that one's medical records are often shared with other doctors. This inaccurate, insulting "diagnosis" was a total lie written by a person practicing a field of medicine in which she was neither qualified nor licensed. The last time I looked, Dr. Gerstle's degree hanging on her office wall was in the field of neurology, not psychiatry. And, It took a threat to report her to the State of Florida's Medical Board in an attempt to get her to delete the use of the term "delusional" from my record; but my request fell on deaf ears. Instead, this "witch with a b" sent me a letter stating that she was dropping me as a patient!
Unbeknownst to her, when I received her letter I was already under the care of another neurologist. The man happened to be a sheer delight. He reassured me that Dr. Gerstle was wrong-- and that I was no more delusional than he was! Understanding how I could be upset about what she had done, he stressed to me that I not only have 100% of my mental faculties but am also completely normal.
I found it both ironic and comical that when we first met and I mentioned to this new doctor that my last neurologist was grossly inconsiderate of her patients' time. He looked at me and said, "I bet it was Gabriella Gerstle, wasn't it?" Evidently her reputation proceeds her. We rolled our eyes and shook our heads in disgust. read more
