I was referred to PT Hawaii by my doctor for neck, shoulder and back pain. I am very happy with the great service I receive at the Waipahu location. I am currently working with Peter for massage therapy. He is very professional, and does an amazing job at taking care of the constant aches, and pains that I have in my neck, shoulders, upper and lower back. My back is usually a solid block when I get there and Peter strategically massages all the right areas that loosens up all my muscles and offers much needed pain relief. I have debilitating pain in my shoulders and rotator cuff and he does an amazing job of relieving pain in those areas. His massages are well skilled and very comforting, once he breaks everything down. He has helped me tremendously to manage my pain level. He also has some great play lists that really add to the therapeutic experience by providing good feeling positive vibes to both the mind and body. I used to think this place was a 5 star rating, but worked for this company for almost two years and all of a sudden there was no warning about getting written up for no reason as there was no proof and no evidence that I had complaints which doesn't make sense to me at all and certainly got the wrong feedback and each client that I did work on I always ask after the massage on how they are feeling which is the right sufficient way to say and approach and the feedback I would get is good and ok which I'm assuming it's ok to the client. I always did my job of the best of my ability and all that worked here knew I had just had gave birth four months ago and to treat me like this isn't right I have done nothing to the company in any away and for the most part for this job to leave me in a strain to provide for my kids and this was the only job that I had due to income restrictions that I have to follow guidelines. This was very unprofessional onto not giving me any time to find another job and no one has told me anything and that same day I ended up going to the hospital as I had very high blood pressure because of this whole situation with being no warning and I never been written up in my life I'm not that kind of person. I'm always willing to go the extra mile and the fact that I had my special needs son here for therapy really got me turned around. This company should be sued as I was pregnant at the time they did this to me and my body went through a complete shock and ended up in the ER as mentioned earlier. read more

I was sent here by my physician as part of my treatment plan for post-operative therapies for my back. My doctor specifically sent me to this location for the purpose of their HYDRO-THERAPY capabilities. First off, I was a bit confused since unlike most medical facilities - this one is in a WAREHOUSE!! Giving it the benefit of a doubt, i went in and registered for my initial consultation and assessment. The waiting room STUNK to high heaven!! Oh my goodness...imagine the stench of sweat and stagnant air (the chairs were cushion and as i suspected, probably retained most if not all body odor of all those who sat on it). I chose to fill my paperwork at the front desk despite the glares and stares I got from the front staffers. At first impressions, my physical therapist was rude and was more concerned with charting my responses in her computer. But as I got to know her in later sessions, i'm striking that rudeness to a rough day. I wish i had something positive to say about the facility however my experience spanning 3 months have proven otherwise. The pool was heated and that's probably the best part of the experience. On some occasions the pool was very murky and just didn't look right. I developed a rash on my face and on my arms from that experience. After asking how often the pool gets cleaned and treated I was told by my therapist that the pool cleaner does not come consistently. Wonderful. Just what I wanted to hear. The only reason I gave this place a one star is because of the relationship I had with my physical therapist and her assistant. I have encouraged my referring physician to go and visit where he refers his patients to just for the sake of knowing what reputable place he patronizes. Additionally, there are particular massage therapists who are very good and diligent in what they do, however I experienced two masseuse who were kinda weird and rude (this particular one didn't even introduce himself). There is a severe lack of professionalism at this facility when patients can hear staff gripes without discretion to who is listening. read more

Awesome place for PT. The WARM SALT WATER POOL is the ultimate luxury. The receptionists are above average with true smiles and greeting, whether you are coming and leaving. The PT's are EXCELLENT, and very concerned about your progress. It is like being on vacation, exercising to get better. You can get massages, you pay for, unless your insurance includes that point. I got a Living Social deal so I went for an hour massage and got 50 minutes instead. I didn't speak up about it since the Korean lady that was giving my massage was sincere. It's a very matter-of-fact massage place where you just go and they just give you a massage with your clothes on and talk to you the entire time. No real relaxing where you get to wear a robe instead with aroma therapy and essential oils. Oh, and I was freezing in the room.... Would I go back? My review is long overdue. I've been going to PT Hawaii for almost four years for long term Aqua therapy. Earlier this year, after ten years, I re-injured my rotator cuff and went for land therapy. Whether in the pool or in the gym, the physical therapists and pt assistants I've had the pleasure and privilege of working with are excellent! I truly enjoy each one. I am always greeted with a smile which makes my painful days lighter as their smiles are contagious! They are extremely knowledgeable, professional and super friendly. I have worked with Joy, Kitchie, Jen Antonio, Fran who moved to the mainland last year, and Jen Seaton, in this order. Each woman is very experienced as true indicators are not only in my evaluations and reevaluations, but when I need modification of an exercise due to pain they, unlike other therapists I have seen at other facilities, adjust my exercise program, and when I have plateaued and can increase my level of exercise, they adjust my program accordingly. They have never been to busy to answer my questions or to help me. I have also been given home exercises for both aqua and land therapy to increase my strength and stretches to abate my painful symptoms. I have a good working relationship with each of them and I could not be more pleased by the level of quality care I have received. I know they care about me as a patient and frankly, I have come to view them as extended family members. The office staff who handles referrals and scheduling are excellent as well. A special shout out to Jeanette who has been there as long and longer than I've been going to Pt Hawaii. She extends herself to every patient. Nadine is a gem and super squared away as well as are Priscilla and Audrey. I have never had a problem scheduling an appointment. When I have had to change my schedule they are all very accommodating. I have always found parking and parking is free! The building is located in the very back of the plaza/shopping center, so don't be confused when first going there. Drive to the back and turn left. It's a huge warehouse type-building. In addition, I think you should know the owners, Dr and Mrs McCaffrey are wonderful people. When I first started going I didn't realize they were the owners because they too are super friendly as well. There are two men on staff now that I have not worked with yet but Raj is very personable and I have heard many wonderful things about Raj as a physical therapist as he's a gentlemen who ran his own physical therapy business on the mainland. Dang is the younger fellow and friendly too. I always look forward to going to therapy because through the care in aqua therapy my pain is more manageable than not going to aqua therapy. I am so grateful my insurance covers long term aqua therapy. Land therapy has abated my rotator cuff issue. Need Aqua or land therapy? Give them a try, you won't be sorry. I highly recommend PT Hawaii. They have an excellent staff and all types of equipment for any type of injury you may have. I like that they regularly spray and clean their equipment to keep everything sanitized. I had a severe sprained ankle, torn ligaments and a fractured fibula. Because this was a work related injury, PT Hawaii took care of the paperwork with workman's comp which made it easy for me. All I had to do was wait for the approval to start my PT. Jennifer Ramos was the physical therapist assigned to me. Ms. Ramos was very dedicated to get me better. Her friendly personality and passion to help her clients made it easy to trust her and her recovery program for me. The love for her job is very evident as I could easily tell that her main goal is to get me back to 100%. Ms Ramos's program for my injury recovery consisted of stretching the muscles in and around the injured area, strengthening the muscles around the injury, then strengthening the muscles of the injured area which also included flexibility and balancing exercises. My recovery took about 3months but it probably would've taken a lot longer if I didn't go to PT Hawaii. My Dr. asked me if I wanted to just do exercises at home or go to PT and picking PT was the best decision I made! I went to PT Hawaii in pain and using crutches and now I'm back to work full duty working 8-10hrs a day. It's been a long road and a lot of hard work to recovery but it was all possible because of Ms Ramos and PT Hawaii. Because of her knowledge, she knows when to increase the intensity of the workout and when to change up the program so your body can react and heal. She kept the therapy challenging while making sure not to overdo it. Ms Ramos also emailed me and made a printouts of exercises I could do at home. Resistance bands are also given out to clients which made exercising at home so convenient. During my time at PT Hawaii, I've also had the pleasure of working with other therapists such as Dang, Jenn, Joy and Kathy. I felt this was also a good thing to aid in my recovery. Different therapists sometimes choose to different exercises to strengthen certain muscles. This was good for me as I could see which exercises worked better for me and which ones helped my body recover faster. Dang also kept my therapy challenging. His therapy sessions really complimented Jennifer's therapy sessions which helped in my quick recovery. Ive gone through a lot during the last few months. I cannot express how thankful I am to PT Hawaii and all their therapists. It felt like they're family after these past few months. It was a little sad as today was my last therapy session but it's a good thing as it's mean that I'm recovered from my injury and ready continue with life. read more

I've been a long time patient to PT Hawaii for for many years. The Physical Therapists I've worked with have been great and pleasurable to work with. No one ever makes you feel uncomfortable and if you don't understand the stretch the Therapist will explain to you the whole mechanics of your body and why you're in pain. If my therapist is booked there's always someone else to cover and now conveniently they're open later to accommodate people after work hours. I always receive a text reminder the day before my appointment with little to none wait time when I arrive. Although, I wish there was a bottled water machine for days I don't have my flask or a smoothie health bar, PT Hawaii has always exceeded my expectations on my journey to recovery. Purchased a Groupon for massages at PT Hawaii and decided to just scrap the voucher after trying to schedule a massage two times. I live in town and work full-time, and PT Hawaii is not open on weekends so I had to take a day off or take advantage of a rare holiday off in order to go to the massage that I scheduled. TWO times PT Hawaii messed up in scheduling, which meant that I drove to Waipahu from town for nothing and wasted a rare day off. After the second screw-up, I decided to just say The Heck With This. This place is amazing. Since enduring a shoulder/neck injury at work I've been coming here two times a week for a few months now. Scheduling is difficult, they seem to be always booked. The nice ladies in the office are helpful but if you are going to therapy here and are limited on days and hours to come in like I am since I am always busy, I suggest you book your appointments for a month at a time. They do physical therapy, aqua therapy and massage therapy here. Tina was my assigned physical therapist when I first started coming here. She is amazing. Her diagnosis and evaluation was on-point. I really do hope you get her too. All of the physical therapists are nice, attentive and really helpful, but Tina is a different story. She pushes you a little harder every time and is quick to explain every aspect of your workout and journey towards recovery. I attribute most of my progress to her efforts. Along with my healing injury, because of her I have learned a lot about preventing other injuries and regular exercise. I feel healthier and have more energy daily. Massage therapy has played a big role in pain relief. If you start coming here I suggest you "try out" each massage therapist. They all have their own styles of massage and individual philosophies. Sam is my favorite. She is also amazing; she is very knowledgeable and always has a positive attitude. Her ability to pin-point exact areas of pain and trigger points of discomfort are incredible. I have been coming to PT Hawaii for several months now. First for pre-op. in hopes to avoid surgery but due to having several tears in my shoulder an operation was inevitable. I am currently seeing Tina as my physical therapist and Samantha as my massage therapist. I enjoy working with both of these ladies as they both have helped me with both my mobility and educating me as to what types of other exercises that I can do to help prevent other injuries that may happen, outside of what I'm actually being seen for. Their Staff is their Treasure! My Physical Therapist Lovely & Asst. Therapist Jen are dynamic & truly concerned for me their client! The Front - line Managed by Emi and held down by Cassandra & Jeanette. I changed wc doctors and was sent to Elam Sports. I don't understand how they stay in business because their pool is an "infinity pool," that has no space for a larger sized woman w/a back injury to get into it w/out being in excruciating pain. But I'll save that review for their page!! PT HAWAII will offer you that need a accessible pool for those that are ambulatory an opportunity to do exercise in shallow and deep water. There are 5-6 of us in on a busy day, but we all manage to get our exercises in. The only thing I would hope is that they would invest in possibly upgrading their pool so that people who are wheelchair bound are able to access the facilities as well. The part that WORK COMP INSURANCE COMPANIES, CALL, "PASSIVE," TELLS ME, NOT ONE ADJUSTOR HAS EVER TRIED, THE MASSOUSE, SAMANTHA "SAM, THE BODY-REGULATOR," IS WHAT I CALL HER. First off I'd like to thank Dr. Scott McCaffrey for introducing me to PT Hawaii which is located in Waipahu, Hawaii in a large blue and white building behind a small business strip mall across the street from Times supermarket. It was 2009, after multiple surgeries (left shoulder, right ankle, and right knee), I also re-injured my lower back. So PT Hawaii had their hands full with me. I didn't know what to expect, in 2003 I had severely injured my lower back which required 3 level back fusion surgery in 2004. Needless to say, because this injury was work related, I became an unwilling participant in months and months of physical therapy before and after surgery. Now I say "unwilling participant" because I had not yet found PT Hawaii. I am only here to praise PT Hawaii so I will not name names (Rehab Hospital of the Pacific). Having had major back surgery in 2004 and other injuries requiring physical therapy, I have extensive experience with 5 other physical therapy companies, one had a smaller, endless style swimming pool (OK, but not as good as PT Hawaii's phenomenal swimming pool), the others offering only land based therapies. I believe this uniquely qualifies me to offer a genuinely objective opinion and comparison to help you make a more informed decision on choosing PT Hawaii for your therapeutic needs. 4 out of the 5 so called physical therapy companies just treated my like a number, a claim number on a piece of paper. The fifth company just treated me with rudeness and disdain. Walking through the front door of PT Hawaii, you're greeted with smiles from Jeannett, Nadine, Audrey, and Priscilla. Through the many years I have been coming to PT Hawaii, I have worked with most everyone either on the floor of their well equipped rehab and therapy room to the awesome saltwater, solar heated extra large pool. Lately I have been receiving care from Joy, second to none, she is very professional knowledgeable, and knows how to make her patients feel special. But I could say that about the entire staff. Katherine, the two Jennifers, then there is the massage therapy department. PT Hawaii is a full service wellness center, and in the massage therapy department you'll find Kevin, Samantha, Ray, Rennell, you can't go wrong, they naturally all have different styles and techniques, but I would recommend anyone of them in a heartbeat. I believe that massage therapy is so very important to the injury recovery process. I have two Massage Therapists because they are both so good, I didn't want to choose, so I kept them both...MAD LOVE for the wonderful team to include the therapists and the front desk staff at PT Hawaii! I'm a nurse, and I love this team so much that I wish that I could clone them and share them with my own patients. My doctor wanted me to try Aqua therapy so he sent me to PT Hawaii. I've been going for about 8 sessions now and I can tel you the staff is friendly and knowledgable. The therapists I've seen have been helpful in teaching me different exercises to do in the pool that I may attempt on my own when I find the equipment. Already I can tell a difference in core strength, and a slight reduction in overall pain. My quality of life has seen some improvement as well. If you're thinking of trying this place out its a solid rehab place. I also tried a sports medicine massage and that was pretty painful but oh so effective in getting my hamstrings and nerve pain to calm down. Really recommend the massages, it's an hour for $45 at the "patient price" and for sure I will be getting another to ease the pain from this crazy holiday season at work. read more

My wife purchased a two-for-one massage deal online for this place. The hours of operations are limited, but it is more of a therapy center than a massage service. I did schedule appointments for my wife and myself making sure to request a female masseuse for my wife. The receptionist clearly asked which one of us was going to need the female masseuse, and I told her my wife. Once at the place, I was taken away first and had a reasonable massage. When my wife returned with a male masseuse, I was not happy. (I did forget to tell my wife I did request a female, but any time we do go for a massage she wants a female. That may be why she didn't say anything to the company.) Since I was given a feedback form from my masseuse, I decided to let them know (verbally and wrote it down) that we were not properly served and I would not return. If this place is trying to build up business from offering deals, they should do much better at following the requests that was made a week in advance. However, I will not return to Physical Therapy Hawaii even for such a deal. read more

PT Hawaii has been amazing in getting me moving again, I have had a chronic lower back injury for 15 years and I ruptured a disk in my neck a little over a year ago. Being able to do Aqua Therapy has allowed me to exercise something I haven't been able to do. The entire staff is friendly, helpful and professional. During each workout there is a licensed physical therapist or licensed physical therapy assistant assigned to you who oversees your entire workout.
