Learning the ways of retail, his cuteness is the perfect way to begin this endeavor. What a sweet little shop. Although its been open for about ten years, I'd only recently learned of Wildflower from an acquaintance. Its confines are currently dressed in soft, breathable garments and assuring color palates. (Periwinkle, charcoal, rose pink, nude, and flecks of colour amongst it all!) Its actually a breath of fresh air, and a different variety from other independent boutiques in the area. I was elated to discover the accumulation of Free People frocks, which is probably my favorite [semi] affordable brand of all time. The owner mentioned that they would be getting more in soon-- whoo hoo! The overall stock seems romantic, flowing, and of excellent taste. Cute tops, rich fabrics and cuts are here for the taking. I think its safe to say that Wildflower has Bohemian Romantic down. The owner of the shop offered me genuine conversation and an easy shopping experience. I was the only patron at the time, so we chatted as I browsed. There was no pressure, no facade-- just good conversation and a shop full of wonders. After much swooning and chit-chat, I know this is a boutique I can dig. Besides the clothes, there were also some pretty neat accessories. I'd say the owner of Wildflower has a great eye. Understated, funky, classic and bohemian looks are all fused into one cohesive collection. All you need is a paycheck. xo

This store is pretty tiny though and they do manage to have a reasonably sized sale section. Very nice staff! Check out the hand bags! Expensive but just the right size: Big enough to carry your laptop, sweater and a few grocery items without looking as though you carry your home on your back like a snail. Mainly leather too! Really the only downside to Wildflower is the cost but check them out for their sale rack and accessories!

Or as my husband would say "it a place for hippies." They had lots of cool sterling silver jewelry from Thailand. The prices were quite reasonable too. They had lots of earrings and bracelets in the $10-$25 range. I really didn't look at much else in the store, but they had beads, wooden knick knacks, pillows, and clothing that looked like they were from Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand, among other things. I loved these kinds of stores in my middle school and high school years, but it's not quite my aesthetics anymore, with the exception of the jewelery, because I still love sterling silver, it's the most suitable metal for my colouring. I had a great time browsing their large jewelery section. I almost bought the cutest bracelet, but it was a tad too big for me :( Staff were very nice. I always stop by when I'm in Halifax to poke around a bit, and be reminded of my style as a teenager, lol.

I was in this shop today and can only give this review on what the selection was in the store…read more Once again, this is the selection only, we did not purchase or try a dress on. First, this is like walking into a fairytale with some of these dresses. They had such a large variety, I was shocked. There was young girls trying on these beautiful gowns. Some in red, others in gold and some in burgundy, I think you could find anything in here, long , short or cocktail dresses and every color option. Each dress was so full of personality, of course they all looked beautiful. I am not sure someone can look bad in these dresses. When you put one one, you just feel like a princess. The ladies in the shop were very nice to us, asked us if we needed any help, talked about the weather. They were very down to earth. The gowns ranged around $300 - 500, but there was a back wall with ones on sale, they were around $200. I thought this was a pretty good price. I liked the selection here. It is the only store that posts a sign. "Please remove shoes before entering". I think this is so no one would catch the shoe while trying on the dress.

I pass the store often, but don't dream to enter as it mainly carries higher end clothing than I can afford and a wide selection of prom dresses. These prom dresses are the main attraction for many girls that flock to this store all winter, and when I finally went to pick out a dress the women that worked there made me never want to come back. They wouldn't let my friend go into the change room with me, our bags were taken behind the cash register (who would try to smuggle out 11 layers of toule?), and no pictures were allowed to be taken of me trying on the dress. Not-So Hot Hint: Don't plan on being able to zip and unzip yourself, I was reprimanded and given the "you break it you buy it" line for doing just that.

When you first enter the store you'll find yourself faced with tables and tables of adorable nick nacks and homewares to browse though - so many cute mugs and beautiful candles! One day I dream that my home will be filled with them. They've also got journals, books, even a kids gift section. Further back you'll find clothing - men's is on the upper level and women's on the lower. They've also got a killer jewellery section (which is where I've found myself most often drooling over the rings and earrings). I never look closely at the clothing because I don't want to tempt myself (out of my price range), but just glancing at the racks I and tell there are a lot of cute things that I hear are really great quality. From the little bit of browsing I've done the sizes are all pretty small...whomp whomp. In the men's section you'll find wallets, shave kits and some really fun socks in addition to the standard clothing fare. Don't miss out on the back section behind the men's clothing where the sale stuff is! They've always got a good selection of sale things. I really love the idea of shopping at Biscuit General, but unless it's some of the smaller items I just don't have the budget for it. It can get very pricey very quickly. That being said if you have more room in your budget definitely give Biscuit General a shot - it's definitely a local gem!

It doesn't hurt that they stock one of my favourite Canadian jewelry designers, as well as my 2nd love of life - Manitobah Moccasins. I own 3 pairs, I'm obsessed. Everything in the store is Canadian made, so no need to worry about spending your hard earned bucks on supporting local, because this store covers all those bases. Which brings me to the price. You're not going to walk in here and pick something up on a whim. No, you're going to carefully stock that very expensive coat, visit it often, until you just can't leave without it. Like how I'm going to do with that Biko necklace, earrings, bracelet.. you get the idea. I'm gonna creep the crap out of that jewelry until it finally comes home with me some payday Friday, when I carefully budget my pay cheque to cut out grocery shopping. So don't go in here thinking it's just another clothing store. You're paying for some Canadians dedication and hard work. You're supporting someone's passion and their dreams. I'd rather spend my money that way, I might end up spending more, but there is a different satisfaction with spending your money wisely. Plus the quality of products they sell here is top shelf!

While I love the high quality of the clothing sold at this store, every visit reminds me why I don't shop there more often: the horrible sales staff. I am a young woman in my mid twenties, and even though I do look younger than my age, I resent the way I am always treated like an unwanted teenage customer at this store. When shopping I usually have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for, this shopping trip being no exception, and I appreciate being given space to browse racks and find things on my own. From the moment I walked into Samuel and Co on Friday the pushy sales woman who greeted me did not leave me alone for a second. It's very clear these ladies are working on commission by their aggressive sales style (something I find very off putting). Beyond the snobby, forceful attitude the sales woman demonstrated I was further annoyed that she didn't listen to anything I told her about what I was looking for. When she first approached me I explained I was looking for a simple, classic and mature looking dress to wear out to Valentines dinner with my boyfriend at an upscale restaurant. She proceeded to bring me a series of sequin coated skirts, see through blouses and other items of clothing much more appropriate for going to a club than a fancy dinner. Meanwhile I managed to find a few dresses I was actually interested in which she begrudgingly added to the pile of things she'd put in a dressing room for me (none of which I had any interest in trying on). I ended up buying one of the dresses I'd found myself and was very happy with the quality and look of it. Even at the cash she seemed annoyed I wasn't more interested in the items she'd suggested. Another pet peeve of mine is customer service people who talk at and not to you. While ringing my purchase through she asked a few questions about where I was going to dinner and what my plans were but when I started to answer she turned away from the counter to engage another sales associate in conversation about something. In general I was made to feel like I was a complete waste of her time. If it wasn't for the great selection of high quality brands and styles that this store offered I wouldn't bother to ever set foot in this place.
