Fear not delinquent taxpayer, that black cloud that's been hanging over your head is about to…read moredissipate into a bright, bright sunshiny day. Before I went to Jason I was having recurring nightmares of IRS swat teams descending from skylights in the middle of the night to haul me away... It's not that I've ever tried to swindle Uncle Sam, just that as a small business owner there always is something seemingly more pressing in the moment, until the days pass by and you live in fear of the monster under the bed, who you know is there but the little kid in you would rather not face just yet. First, it's going to be ok: let Jason and the fine team at tax city do what they do best, and put this dark horse out to pasture once and for all. I very, very rarely write Yelp reviews. Only when the service provided is so uncommonly superb that I feel duty-bound. This is just such a case. I went into Jason's office for the first time like a man walking to the execution chair. I expected the analysis of my situation to very possibly result in fines, levies, bankruptcy, 20 years hard labor in a rock quarry, all of it... Jason, who not only is a fantastic accountant, but may have very well moonlighted as a therapist at some point in his career, sensed my dread and immediately put my mind at ease. He possesses the confidence that only experience and competence provide, and quickly assessed my situation and assured me I could stop looking over my shoulder now. He devised a game plan and explained every step and the reason why, and patiently answered my many questions and concerns. I don't know if many CPA's have seen the mess I brought to this guy's doorstep, but he was undaunted, and immediately put wheels in motion to keep my affairs from getting any worse while we sorted out the rest. A year later I can say making an appointment here was one of the best business decisions I've ever made. Matter fact Jason was even able to get money back from the state for me! The cleaning up of my accumulated mess spread across many months, and at the drop of a hat Jason was there going to bat for me, yet again. Even if he charged double, it would be reasonable for the level of service and commitment this establishment provides. Do yourself a favor, regardless of how bad your situation may be, and get it handled. Your only regret will be not having done it sooner. (I did not get paid or receive any discount on my tax services for writing this review haha.)

I'm happy because my financial advisor continues to grow my portfolio. I recommend them to everyone I meet that is looking for a tax or financial advisor.

In July my employer was acquired, which created a one-time equity event -- a large block of W-2 income plus a capital gain -- and a genuinely time-sensitive tax question. I sent a one-page summary with my own figures and six specific questions: confirm my analysis, check whether I'd owed AMT on some prior ISO exercises (I asked him to pull my IRS and FTB transcripts), and tell me whether I needed to make a Q3 estimated payment before the September 15 deadline. It took 17 days and a follow-up email from me to get any reply. When it came, none of the six questions were answered. What I got was a rough estimate he explicitly told me not to rely on -- "by no means should you use these for any official calculations" -- plus a note that his system couldn't calculate two of the taxes that applied to my return. The same email told me the firm would no longer be servicing my account. - Basically they fired me HA! I understand this was outside his wheelhouse. He said as much. But that's a conversation to have on day one, not after two and a half weeks of silence on a deadline-driven question. Being dropped as a client in the same message that answered nothing is what moved this from disappointing to worth writing about. I never did move my investments over. This experience made that decision for me -- which is worth mentioning, because the combined tax-and-wealth offering is what brought me in. If you're considering them for both, I'd want to see how they handle a complicated tax year before you hand over anything else. If I can't trust you for the little stuff, how can I trust you with the big stuff. One star instead of Zero (If I could) because he did eventually respond and offered a referral.- Thanks but NO THANKS!
