I can't say enough wonderful and encouraging words about LaWanna Martin-Brown! She has always helped me when I had questions or concerns about our account. She is very personable and has so much knowledge in her field! No one ever walks away without a smile on their face after speaking with LaWanna! She is genuine and very professional! Thank you Provident Bank, for having her apart of your team! read more

After about 20 yrs of having a joint checking account with no problems, my partner died and I went to the bank with a death certificate and asked to retitle the account. The person at the floor officer's desk said that they only retitled accts for married couples and they would close my acct. I told her all my govt remittances and pension checks went to the acct by direct deposit and my bills were on autopay. She said "Then you will have a month to open a new acct and make new arrangements." I went to Bank of America and opened a new acct and they were shocked when I told them this. They said that retitling a joint acct is routine and they never ask about relationships. I am now terrified to go into the branch for fear that woman will recognize me and demand to close my acct. read more

Worst bank ever, they are in your personal business everyday. Every transaction...they block your debit card for the state of CA dmv and they block your Zelle for trying to pay a Gardner's. So they blocked my dad out of all his money except he had to hope the bank was actually open. On top of that no online banking for you because we personally have determined you're not smart enough to do it. So therefore we have decided that you're no longer able to log in and pay your bills. You now have to try and call everyone to do this. Not to mention we don't believe that's your email so we have determined again your to stupid to handle your own account.!! read more

I opened a checking account within 30 minutes. My banker Devalyn Lambrose helped me understand the whole process. She made it so easy. Provident Bank has the lowest monthly service fee for checking account, and if I use my debit card 20 x's a month I get $5.00 off the service fee. Direct deposit another $5.00 off per month. Very happy. read more

THIS is not just a bank. This is a place where you know you will always get quality care with a personal touch. My money is safe here, but the true value is how we are treated. Rabina, Detra, Adrian and all the others treat us with warmth and respect. This is a place where they know your name when you walk in. It's a relationship. Superb customer service is consistent, along with knowledge and experience. Thank you all for helping us and being there to guide us and answer our question! read more

I recently opened an account with Provident Bank. I was a walk in and LaWanna still found time to squeeze me in. I was impressed with her knowledge of the banking business and she was very attentive to my account details. You don't often find this level of professionalism anymore. The only criticism I have it that the "free" checks that they promised were not free. They charged $9.03 for shipping and handling. That's still reasonable and I'm not about to close my account for that. It was a minor misrepresentation to state that the checks are free and then to charge for shipping. Thank you LaWanna and Provident Bank. -Bruce W. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews on yelp, but I do take the time when I feel an employee or business truly deserves it. Today I was helped by an Employee named Lawanna who gave me some of the best customer service I've had in a long time. Her and I talked for quite a while, and she expressed that she was relatively new to the branch, but has a lot of experience in banking in the past, and I could tell as she was very professional, and provided excellent service with a smile. The branch needs more employees just like her. Thanks again Lawanna, and best of luck. read more

I call B.S. , so I went to a shredding event this past weekend that they were having, and I was forced to give my name and number or they would not let me shred anything, ok, so I gave my number that has an auto-blocker on it, and I checked "Do not Call me" on the spreadsheet that I had to fill out, and low and behold I got a call from them today which did not go thru, but I called them back to ask why they called me when I specifically told them not to, they stated it was just to say Thanks for coming to there event...again, I call B.S., if this is they way they respect privileged information I would hate to see what they would do if I had an account there. read more

My mother passed away in March, she left behind an account with no beneficiaries and my father is trying to close the account. When we went in to ask how he could go about that the teller was trying to tell us how to take care of it but the woman that sits at the desk behind the tellers shushed him and then he would not tell us anything. I'm sorry but her behavior was awful and I think she needs to be in a different area so people don't have to look at her sour face. My father was so upset he just didn't know what to do he is 80 years old he lost his wife you would think people would be a little more careful on how they deal with the elderly. I am going to have my father take his money out of that bank and move to Wells Fargo where if something like this happens they make you wait 90-days and then you just take in the death cert and your done. I think more banks should be like Wells Fargo yes I said it Wells Fargo read more

Seems only one person in the entire company can approve IRA distributions. And she is on vacation. Ridiculous!

Provident bank is lacking in customer service and has poor communication . When we signed up for a savings account, we were never given any brochures describing the rules governing the account. The only information that we were able to receive was from the Internet, which lacked the fine details. Our account was abruptly closed, without any warning, any communication, or any notice. If Provident Bank expects their customers to follow the rules, they need to share them before the game is played. read more

A big shout out to this small bank. When it comes to customer service they outrank all the big banking institutions. When I walk in to the Sun City branch of Provident Bank or any of their other branches I know my money, account and I are in good hand. What other bank can you go to and you are not a big depositor and they know you by name and they make you feel your account is as important as all other accounts. They are friendly, courteous, helpful, and understanding of your situations. They do all they can to assist you and more. They go out of their way to make sure that they meet your needs and exceed your expectations. If you're looking for another bank I would highly recommend Provident Bank especially the one in Sun City, California. read more

I have had nothing but trouble with this bank, I have twice sent a letter to close an account and all they say is they haven't received it. I would think that they would offer to send a fax or email to confirm but all they say is that it is not bank error so I have to keep mailing them letters. In the mean time they keep adding more service charges to the account, I have had much better service from big banks! At least they have the customer service skills to help a customer and the technology to make things easier! read more

No customer service who tells there customers that sometimes life's not fair. Seriously. You stopped my card and I never received a replacement and you want me to pay $75 to expedite a card to me when you're the one that stopped my card and don't care that I can't get to my money But they say it's not there fault and that life's not fair. I'm so lost for words that your bank doesn't care and just tells you life's not fair you're screwed but we did this too you but o what it's the mails fault. Ridiculous read more
