I went to this school for all 3 years and let me tell you my experience. With teachers, you win…read moresome and you lose some. Some of them will be the best teacher you will ever have in your life, and some require you to be in class, tell you to open canvas, and be silent the whole class, and there's ranges of teachers in between. Some are extremely against the pledge of allegiance while others aren't and encourage students to find what it means to them personally. I have found most of the staff to be amazing (excluding teachers from this assessment). They were always super helpful with getting me to who I need. The therapists there are also amazing. The biggest issue I have is those few rough teachers like Ms. Richmond, Mr. Wall, and basically the entire language arts department, excluding the creative writing teacher, she was amazing. But in reality, this school experience is what one makes it, so if you make it a good year then darn it it'll be a good year. Another thing is if you aren't part of any fun groups or clubs, you will hate your entire high school life. I encourage you to participate when you can and you won't regret it!

My son was struggling badly in school and we pulled him from our local school in the middle of 6th grade. Draper Academy and their staff and students welcomed him with open arms. They tested him and he was 2 grade levels behind in math and a bit behind in comprehension as well. This school was a place for him to rest, learn and recoup for a year and a half. He was able to relax, gain confidence in himself again and lovegoing to school every day! This school was such a gift for him. He is now in 8th grade and he just started at one of our local junior highs and we are a month into school and he has straight A's. He is flourishing and able to stay organized and is understanding his 8th grade math. Horrible Staff and teachers are inexperienced and overly harsh on students. It used to be better but most of the good teachers have left. They teach by fear. There are no resources available at the school. You will be paying for outside support and sports if interested. The staff is horrible and treat the students like military soldiers. The kids are not allowed to be children! You will have to pay for everything and don't get a decent education. The recesses are too short and and the kids don't even get one on Wednesday this year. Your child will have to memorize endless prayers in every class (PE, music and art). Homework is over the top here with at least 1.5 hours. My kids were miserable here! So happy we left! A lot of good families have left over the last few years as the school tolerates horrible children to stay (they may go to the office but never removed from the school, tuition is too important to the school). Also Skaggs school is hiding abuse cases, tolerating unacceptable behavior from teachers, the catholic school system in Utah is in trouble and it's apparent. They don't even have a cafeteria for the kids to eat in instead they have to eat inside a filthy classroom. If you order a school lunch they give you frozen cold lunch one time they gave my kid had moldy cheese pizza, so I would recommend bringing home lunch. They also have a very strict uniform policy which sucks!!! The school only lets you have 10 absence and your kid have to make up all the homework from the days they were absent and usually the homework takes a hour or more to do. One time they let a kidnapper in the school without even noticing!!! So the kids saw the police coming in to look for the kidnapper, the worst part is they didn't even have a lock down!! So this school is not safe at all! We probably won't be coming back!
