Another reason why my opinion on this school is so low is as a Native American I was unable to wear any sort of cultural outfit or accessories for fear of getting a 1,000 dollar fine and having my diploma withheld. As a Native I find this unacceptable as the Catholic Church has caused the near extinction of my culture and blood. I would not ever go here again and would not send my child here.

Horrible Staff and teachers are inexperienced and overly harsh on students. It used to be better but most of the good teachers have left. They teach by fear. There are no resources available at the school. You will be paying for outside support and sports if interested. The staff is horrible and treat the students like military soldiers. The kids are not allowed to be children! You will have to pay for everything and don't get a decent education. The recesses are too short and and the kids don't even get one on Wednesday this year. Your child will have to memorize endless prayers in every class (PE, music and art). Homework is over the top here with at least 1.5 hours. My kids were miserable here! So happy we left! A lot of good families have left over the last few years as the school tolerates horrible children to stay (they may go to the office but never removed from the school, tuition is too important to the school). Also Skaggs school is hiding abuse cases, tolerating unacceptable behavior from teachers, the catholic school system in Utah is in trouble and it's apparent. Don't waste your money there are better places (public, private charter options) where your children will be much happier!

My son was struggling badly in school and we pulled him from our local school in the middle of 6th grade. Draper Academy and their staff and students welcomed him with open arms. They tested him and he was 2 grade levels behind in math and a bit behind in comprehension as well. This school was a place for him to rest, learn and recoup for a year and a half. He was able to relax, gain confidence in himself again and lovegoing to school every day! This school was such a gift for him. He is now in 8th grade and he just started at one of our local junior highs and we are a month into school and he has straight A's. He is flourishing and able to stay organized and is understanding his 8th grade math. I am beyond appreciative to Mrs. Chris for creating this school that is a haven for a chosen few who get to attend. We love Draper Academy and if your in the fence go give it a tour.

I used to work multiple 16 hour days a week and not once was I thanked, I was just asked for more. The only time anyone will ever talk to you is to tell you how you did something they did not approve of. The upper management completely fabricated a narrative of me that was false. I have the same degree as the owners and I was treated like I did not even have a high school degree. I spent more time with the boys than anyone else but my thoughts and opinions meant nothing. They say they are a relationship model program but in reality if you have any connection with the boys they immediately insinuate you have no boundaries. Staff that should have been fired were promoted because they played into the workplace garbage and were easily manipulated. Want to talk about drugs? Sure. Teach them about drugs? Go for it. Masterbation? How to extend ejaculation? Give them access to pornography? Or lose a kid or two? Hate kids? Be out of ratio? Want to sleep with other staff? Dress like a slut for work with teenage boys? Out kids sexuality to parents? Break HIPAA? Expect a promotion soon! These are all examples of current staff, management and owners. Do yourself and your child a favor and NEVER send them here. The kids are AMAZING. The only reason I stayed was for them. To keep them safe and loved. They deserve so much better. They are vulnerable children who are depending on adults to keep them safe and nurtured but instead they are surrounded by money hungry corporate puppets who do not care for them.

It affected her cognitive abilities and she was forced to miss a good amount of school as well as special events of senior year. The kind, discreet response of the teachers and administrative staff blew us all away. They were fiercely protective of her. My daughter is pretty private but the students and their parents who knew were equally as amazing! Character was high with the kids (they didn't gossip much like you might find at another school, held her confidences and, as a result, feel like the school will forever be in my heart. The only issue that holds me back is that I feel it can be very rules heavy, a bit punitive (kids were expelled and punished for little). It lacks a vibrant social scene, can be a bit provincial in its academic and enriching offerings and can tend to mute students from sharing thoughts and expressing themselves. The last thing is that students don't really head committees or initiatives in junior or senior year... they really should and parents should be nowhere to be found. High school is the time to try new things and fail. Prom committee, the school store, a real school newspaper...They really aren't encouraged to as the parent body leads all. This proved tougher when my daughter went off to high school. Other than that, great school with great classes and teachers, special kids and- for the most part- a wonderful, warm parent body. My son has attended the Summit Academy schools since first grade. He's going into 10th this year. I…read moreoriginally enrolled him here because he was transitioning from Challenger School, which has insanely high academic standards, and Summit at the time ranked in the top 5% of Utah schools on test scores. Other campuses have opened now, and the test scores have grown closer to the state average. What's NOT average is the emotional health of the staff and culture there! I've been SO impressed with the quality of the teachers and their support and interest in helping the students succeed. No one is perfect, but wow, the staff and management here and also at the middle school are extremely approachable and really care. Statistically, they shouldn't all be amazing. They're a small school, which is both good and bad. The teacher student ratio is like 18:1, and they're incredible teachers. My son's English teacher last year is a PhD. adjunct professor at UVU and had topics he'd have the kids discuss every week to help them evaluate their values. I actually enjoyed hearing about his assignments every week. His science teacher was given the freedom to create a course of her choosing, so she chose Oceanography and is trying to arrange a SCUBA trip to Catalina Island for the students (disclaimer: not sure if that's approved!). They're just super focused on the kids. Obviously, they don't have the breadth of extracurricular options that large schools do, but when students or parents give feedback or participate, it's completely noticed and they make improvements right away! Staff and teachers know your student by name, and the students can pretty much join whatever sport or club they want to and rise to leadership if they choose. It's an emotionally healthy school in my opinion. I didn't choose it for that, but I've ended up being so grateful for it. I'm loving the adults my son is being influenced by.

Coming from a traditional public school, I love that my children are well looked after and the principal even knows their names. The teachers and staff listen to parents and students concerns which I found refreshing after my previous experiences. I also really love how it is a bit easier to get on sports teams, cheer, etc. The class sizes are smaller and they have an amazing IEP program. Mrs. Jeppson really advocates for her students and goes out of her way to contact colleges, tech programs to give her students the information they need to further their education after high school. This is not an uncommon experience at this school. They care about their students.

The worst school my kid could ever experience, they do a thing called card moves to discipline your…read morekid for no reason you also have to move a card to use the bathroom during class!! They don't even have a cafeteria for the kids to eat in instead they have to eat inside a filthy classroom. If you order a school lunch they give you frozen cold lunch one time they gave my kid had moldy cheese pizza, so I would recommend bringing home lunch. They also have a very strict uniform policy which sucks!!! The school only lets you have 10 absence and your kid have to make up all the homework from the days they were absent and usually the homework takes a hour or more to do. One time they let a kidnapper in the school without even noticing!!! So the kids saw the police coming in to look for the kidnapper, the worst part is they didn't even have a lock down!! So this school is not safe at all! We probably won't be coming back!
