Yes, PE can be unbearable, but it's a common experience across the state. We are fortunate to have activities like skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing in our curriculum. Some more negative news has been discussed about a project where students are expected to read three books from assigned genres. Many have complained that this has negatively affected their interest in reading. I can relate to this, but I must say it is SO important that we explore different genres. Reading three books over two months is not an unreasonable request. I understand that some students may struggle to achieve this goal, but many of my peers have discussed this concern with educators and have been excused from the requirement. It's also important to mention that it's truly not hard; students have options to read graphic novels, which, as I understand it, are quite simple to read three of. I've also seen complaints about the counseling office, but I must remind you that this is a public school, and we genuinely have it better than most. Honestly, I feel a bit petty writing a review about a school, but I'm bored.

Bullying is a widespread problem that is not solved in a way that will make the school feel safe to students. A report form is provided for the use of informing the school and counseling office of bullying, though it does not resolve the issue. I, myself, have experienced torment various times and reported it, though it has in no way resolved the issue and has impacted my life with anxiety and a few panic attacks that affect my learning. They don't understand the needs of physically or mentally disabled/injured students. I have a 504 along with ADHD and maybe autism. Though despite this, teachers expect students to be highly responsible for tasks such as turning in permission forms, charging computer every night, etc. lots of children have problems with remembering, even with help. With physical needs, however, they still don't seem to care unless the injury is severe. Students who have minor but painful injuries are still forced into PE. They don't raise awareness on students who are LGBTQ+. The school is NOT homophobic, they are supportive, but as a demigirl, I am offended by the way they use pronouns during Student of the Month. They do not ask any students what they prefer to be referred to as, and instead those with different gender identities do not receive what they wish to be viewed as. HOWEVER, despite the complaints I have, I believe Ecker truly has the potential to be a great school, (which it kind of already is, despite the bullying) but we still need to address these few minor issues, and we're almost there. I still enjoy this school a lot and it truly has amazing educational services that truly help students succeed. Their counseling office is so helpful as well as comfortable and I love the way you can go anytime you want.

No longer a good school, if it ever truly was…read more New administration nearly every year , most of whom lack any of the qualifications to run a school (current admin is a pastor, 1 was an accountant) ). Very limited programs, mediocre academics (but very easy grading (probably to keep up the appearance of what they claim) very stifling/judgmental environment and one of the least Christian behaving communities we've seen. So much bullying among both staff and students and so many kids struggling with their mental health, due in part to the uncaring staff and student body. There is no college counselor (as of our departure) , no properly credentialed school counselor (as of our departure) , no math or reading specialist, no leveled instruction, no music program or instructors, very few elective or Honors/concurrent offerings. Many of the teachers are parents who , likely in order to keep their tuition benefit , flood rating sites to mask the poor reviews over the past several years. We were mislead to believe that there was so much to offer here, but our time here proved otherwise.

Mr. Hawkins is gone now--but don't relax, because they apparently decided the fix was to add more principals, and somehow the high school principal is 10x worse, which honestly deserves recognition for effort alone. Staff behavior is where things really go off the rails. Ms. Edith, an office employee, physically grabbed my sister and dragged her down the stairs, leaving marks on her arm--yes, dragged, very educational, very "safe learning environment." Both my sister and I were harassed by staff, and I was belittled so badly I ended up bawling my eyes out, because nothing prepares kids for life like grown adults on a power trip. I went here for three years--THREE--and my parents and I can confidently say this place is a masterclass in pretending to be a school while failing students at every possible level. Bad teachers everywhere, staff who shouldn't be around children, and an administration that confuses discipline with ego. And if you're wondering why you don't see many negative reviews, don't worry--they delete those too, because accountability clearly isn't part of the curriculum.
