School can be a pain; that's expected, and I agree it can be frustrating at times. However, all schools in America are like this, and we are honestly lucky to have this one, a high-budget school offering creative elective choices. Yes, PE can be unbearable, but it's a common experience across the state. We are fortunate to have activities like skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing in our curriculum. Some more negative news has been discussed about a project where students are expected to read three books from assigned genres. Many have complained that this has negatively affected their interest in reading. I can relate to this, but I must say it is SO important that we explore different genres. Reading three books over two months is not an unreasonable request. I understand that some students may struggle to achieve this goal, but many of my peers have discussed this concern with educators and have been excused from the requirement. It's also important to mention that it's truly not hard; students have options to read graphic novels, which, as I understand it, are quite simple to read three of. I've also seen complaints about the counseling office, but I must remind you that this is a public school, and we genuinely have it better than most. As a 6th-grade student at Ecker Hill Middle School, I would like to elucidate some serious issues this school demonstrates. Bullying is a widespread problem that is not solved in a way that will make the school feel safe to students. A report form is provided for the use of informing the school and counseling office of bullying, though it does not resolve the issue. I, myself, have experienced torment various times and reported it, though it has in no way resolved the issue and has impacted my life with anxiety and a few panic attacks that affect my learning. They don't understand the needs of physically or mentally disabled/injured students. I have a 504 along with ADHD and maybe autism. Though despite this, teachers expect students to be highly responsible for tasks such as turning in permission forms, charging computer every night, etc. lots of children have problems with remembering, even with help. With physical needs, however, they still don't seem to care unless the injury is severe. Students who have minor but painful injuries are still forced into PE. They don't raise awareness on students who are LGBTQ+. The school is NOT homophobic, they are supportive, but as a demigirl, I am offended by the way they use pronouns during Student of the Month. They do not ask any students what they prefer to be referred to as, and instead those with different gender identities do not receive what they wish to be viewed as. HOWEVER, despite the complaints I have, I believe Ecker truly has the potential to be a great school, (which it kind of already is, despite the bullying) but we still need to address these few minor issues, and we're almost there. I still enjoy this school a lot and it truly has amazing educational services that truly help students succeed. Here is my experience as a 7th-grade student: They use AI to advertise their artistic events, which is incredibly contradictory and senseless, given that said tool is threatening the careers, opportunities, and livelihoods of artists. As someone who adores creating art myself, I am offended by this. They advocate against drug use, but they only cover how to avoid encountering substances without addressing the root causes, including a need for coping mechanisms, mental health problems, etc. Their PE program is too intense at times. While the school is definitely fortunate to have access to activities like cross-country skiing and swimming, these should not be forced onto non-athletic students. The school would benefit from something along the lines of an "honors/advanced PE" similar to the math situation, so people who aren't as into sports can have an easier time, while athletes-in-the-making can still get the workout they need. Also, according to several of my peers, the RAP assignment has done the opposite of its intended purpose: it has destroyed their passion for reading. It has turned from a hobby to a chore for them and feels more like work than anything. The school should encourage students to read, not force them to consume books that don't interest them. Overall, Ecker Hill Middle School definitely has the potential to be a great school, but only if we can address these key issues. read more

Aquatic service was really bad!! Swimming instructor acted really really horrible toward my kids! Actually my kids are scared of one of their instructors who was bragging how great she was. She was telling that she has 35 years of experiences and she was saying Can you afford to pay first then who cares how you feel because I have 35 years of experiences. My friends always ask me how my kids have learned to swim so well, I tell them Ecker Pool and their amazing instructors. I moved to Park City 4 years ago and have gone to a few different lessons in Park city. My friend highly recommended privates at Ecker Pool. When we started, my 3 & 5 year old began lessons with Jessica and Jamie. Within 4 months my 3 year old was swimming across the pool and had caught up with where his brother was 4 months earlier(which took him 2years to get to with other pools) and my 5 year old was swimming across the big pool with survival skills as well as freestyle, back and breaststroke and learning butterfly!!! My 4 year old's teacher is graduating him into group lessons with the pool next month. My now 6 year old is in the pools group lessons at Orca level and after Shark he can try out for swim team once he turns 7, he's so excited! I'm glad we started with the privates, Jessica & Jamie really know how to connect with children and tailor to their mood and way of learning and make it fun. After watching all the other instructors that teach there over this year, I would recommend anyone here. read more
