They have a strong focus on and commitment to their curriculum, even among their youngest students, and they share their curriculum for each respective class with parents of enrolled students. Enrolled children spend ample time outside and teachers make use of nearby trails, even in colder weather. The school provides opportunities for parents to engage and get involved and they are open to feedback and ideas. We've been impressed with many of the teachers and have watched how our children have grown and evolved under their care.

Ms. Allie has helped foster a love of reading in my child that makes my heart smile. (I catch her sneaking in chapters of her books at night). Last year we had Ms Julia in kindergarten who was equally as engaging. I can't imagine a more loving and enriching environment for my daughter. We feel so grateful that the small town of Park City has such a progressive and heartfelt learning environment. At her age we wanted our daughter in a school where she was more than just a number. With the small class sizes and low student to teacher ratio they accomplish just that. The enrichment opportunities are many. From drama, to music, spanish, wellness classes and art. Not to mention wonderful after school options. At one point we wanted our daughter to be in one of the local bilingual schools but the spanish teacher at this school is wonderful! Ms K not only teaches them a new language but also includes lessons in mindfulness. Our daughter is able to keep up with her language skills and excel at reading and math which sometimes proves difficult in a bilingual setting. We definitely made the right choice with this school.

He tried 2 other camps in Park City and he chose Another Way as he said he felt as if it was "comforting". Diane Bode is a brilliant educator and the creator of this school. Her staff are all so loving, skilled, attentive, and warm. The team creates a safe, happy, welcoming place for children to learn, to grow, to explore....all with respect for every child's own developmental needs. My son was introduced to horses and wanted to ride daily. He couldn't wait to get to camp every day and today, his last day, he was so sad it was over. And, he's asked me no less than 10 times if we could move to Park City so that he can go to school at Another Way. Thank you Diane, for this incredible school. I am not sure why anyone would send their kids to a charter school especially with a well funded,…read moretop rated school district like Park City or Wasatch School District. Some teachers have no college degrees, transportation is expensive and unreliable, lunches are not nutritional and equity/diversity is lacking. Charter schools receive a fraction of education funding, held less accountable and really have no idea what they are doing. Lack of academic rigor and safety, disorganized and non compliant. Students kicked out of not finding success in neighborhood public school often try charter schools.

During the dialog, it was clear this is an only a business as it's top priority and schooling and kids are secondary. All 3 of my children went to Shining Stars and the teachers gave them the building blocks to succeed, make friends, have confidence and went into Kindergarten academically on top. Shining Star's curriculum is top notch! It follows the core standards and allows students to thrive. The teachers focus on theme base lesson plans that center around letters, sounds, numbers, writing, science, patterns, beginning sounds, syllables, sight words, reading, beginning addition, etc. The teachers also stress the importance of being kind, loving acts, what it means to be a good friend, what are "green" or good choices, whole class and individual reward system, etc. Shining Stars is a wonderful, loving, incredible school that I would recommend to everyone!!!
