Guilt-Free Waffles That Taste Amazing! Protein Monkey in Westchase is such a fun little spot for healthy eats, they have waffles smoothies and juices with aloe Vera , The vibe is boho and welcoming , perfect for a post-workout stop or when you want something that feels like a treat but is still guilt-free. The protein waffles are my absolute favorite I usually get the Romeo and Juliete which has strawberry coconut and chocolate drizzle . It's light and fluffy without being overly sweet. You'd never guess they're packed with protein, I also can't do whey protein so confirmed that it is plant protein . Their smoothies and green juices are also super tasty without tasting too chalky. One of the best parts is that the store is usually owner-run, and they're always super friendly and helpful when recommending items or explaining what's in each drink. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they serve. My only complaint is the pricing or seems pricing everywhere. One time I didn't even check the total, and my waffle and green juice came out to about $32, which was a surprise. It's not a deal-breaker because the quality and service are great, but it's worth keeping in mind. Overall, Protein Monkey is still one of my favorite healthy spots in the area if Im craving something sweet. read more

I ordered the cookies and cream protein shake. Ew. Did not even resemble cookies and cream.... At all. It tasted so strongly of banana and left such a weird taste in my mouth. I want to try this place again because the other items look good, just this one was so bad. read more

Great customer service, delicious coffees and shakes. Great local spot to help meet your protein goals or enjoy a healthy treat.

The inside is really pretty and clean looking. Very boho sheek! The service is great and the owner was very friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. I came hoping to get donuts but they no longer make them. They've replaced them with muffins. I opted for a waffle and cookies. The cookies were good and sweet, and they didn't have a chalky protein taste. I'd get them again! I had the Elvis waffle, no bacon bits. Add pecan and Nutella. It was delicious!! Made to order, and thick and fluffy!! The flavors were great too. I'll definitely be back read more

Cute smoothie shop with tropical aesthetics. Def a place to hang out since they had board games to play. Friendly team. Menu has a little bit of everything to offer. Got the strawberry cheesecake protein smoothie which tasted like a cheesecake with a hint of strawberry. The coffees with protein seemed to be the popular choice that day. read more

Fast excellent service. Protein shake was amazing(Mint Chip)! I would highly recommend Protein Monkey!

Here's the revised version: Protein Monkey is a beautiful spot with stunning decorations--definitely an Instagram-worthy place! The service was super nice, even though there was only one person working when I visited and it was quite busy. Despite that, I got my order in a reasonable amount of time, which I appreciated. This was my first time here, and they offer a variety of protein shakes, teas, protein coffee, and more. From the taste, I suspect they use Herbalife protein, which may appeal to some. The teas all seemed pretty similar, but unfortunately, I wasn't a fan. I also tried a green juice, which was packed with ice--at $9, I didn't feel it was worth the price. I ordered the Elvis waffle, and while the presentation was beautiful, the texture wasn't quite what I prefer. It wasn't crispy enough for me, and the toppings, while delicious, might've made it a bit too soft. The waffle itself didn't have that typical "protein" taste, which was a plus, but overall, it wasn't something that would draw me back. One thing I really liked and appreciated is that they have games available at each table, like Jenga, dominoes, and a fun hanging monkeys game. It's such a nice touch that makes the space feel cozy and fun for friends or family to enjoy together. I think the pricing is on the higher side for what you get, but the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. read more

Obsessed with protein monkey now. Such delicious food and satisfying reward to know how much protein! Will definitely stop here after my trips to the gym. The açaí bowl was perfect -- love how it comes with peanut butter and coconut on top. Little pricier than expected at $15 but worth the money and a large portion for the price. Star of the show are their waffles, my friend loves the Romeo & Juliet. Above all else, such friendly customer service in an adorable place to enjoy a nice coffee date or lunch. read more

Protein Monkey - Romeo & Juliet, açaí bowl - Juice Bars & Smoothies Near Me - Tampa, Florida

Cons: While we were eating there was a large golden retriever that was allowed to jump on the counter and was petted by a staff member who also made and brought out our food (we received our food before she pet the dog but was so disgusted after seeing that). The counter also contains food ingredients, blenders, etc. The dog also was scratching next to our table (the place is super quaint). SO GROSS! I'd also like to note that the dog was also not a service animal. The Choco coco shake was a 2.5 out of 5. I asked if it was chalky/traditional protein taste and was told no, however, the shake tasted like only chocolate protein powder. Like, right out the Costco jar, blended with ice only. Pros: Staff were very friendly and greeted us when we arrived. Very helpful and eager to answer questions. Romeo and Juliet waffle and Elvis waffle were delicious. The passion fruit tea was also good I wouldn't return as I believe they have some serious sanitation issues to consider. read more

Went to Protein Monkey in Tampa -- waited 25 minutes for an açaí bowl and a shake. People who walked in after me got served first. They clearly have favorites. The açaí and shake tasted weird too. Waste of time and money. Never going back. read more

This is a cute little shop by my dog groomer and I walked in to try a smoothie or a snack. The staff was friendly. Unfortunately the menu is very limited. It is basically protein waffles and protein shakes. Or very artificial looking tea. No plain teas. The protein is soy, which I do not eat and there is no other choice, so I could not get anything. I was looking for a basic smoothie with natural ingredients and different choices for protein. I also found out it is a front for Herbalife, a pyramid scheme. I had high hopes based on the appearance, but this place is not for me. All artificial food, no real food/drink options. read more

Easy five star review, from the vibe to the decor to Yani at the counter to the protein-focused shakes and waffles, I really enjoy this place! I'm honestly surprised it isn't packed with a line out the door. Perhaps Westchase hasn't gotten the memo yet. They should, we need to help them thrive. Upon entering you'll notice a really cool/hip but very very welcoming Miami type vibe. While the menu is relatively small, making the choice is so difficult, everything looks so delicious and actually is. Everything on the menu is custom made. Nothing is premade waiting to be served. The taste and texture difference is obvious. So far I have had the chocolate protein shake (non dairy) and a wonderfully delicious protein waffle. Will be back often for sure. read more

Great spot with a fun vibe! Anyone who wants to enjoy a post workout protein shake or just an anytime yummy snack. As a vegan I was delighted that the protein powder is PLANT-BASED!!! I happened upon this place as I had an appointment in Westchase. I was amazed that the protein shakes appeared to look like milkshakes yet were under 300 cals with 0g sugar. Sounded too good to be true. Well it was true. I had the mint chip and it was so good I've been dreaming about it ever since. My only complaint is that it's too far from my house!
