We were forgiving and still went with them. It was expected to take 6 weeks and now we have waited all this time and the company has went radio silent, ignoring numerous emails from the rehab director and myself and, upon calling, there is now a message saying they are closed for the unforeseeable future. Sounds like they are going out of business, but have failed to properly inform their customers. Now, my dad is having to start the entire process again, losing precious time during his stroke recovery, after already waiting weeks for this company to come through. If they ever reopen, PLEASE considering using else. This is not a reputable or professional company!

But, they didn't blow us off! I have quite a bit of experience in orthotics and prosthetics. Before I retired, that's what I used to do. Measure & Fabricate orthotics, and prosthetics, at the VA. Sales associate, Wendy, actually measured and did pressure analysis of my friend's gait. After watching her attention to detail, I asked if she had taken pedorthic fitters courses? I didn't tell her who I was. Haven't seen such attention to detail and custom service in decades! The majority of places, nowadays, that claim to sell shoes, have a couple of people standing around, that basically fill in stock or act as cashiers. She made suggestions as to what would be most appropriate, for his feet and conditions; not what is the most expensive shoe, she could sell. They have clothing, accessories, and other merchandise related to running and hiking. They can make inserts for your shoes, they also have them premade. There are boxes of various sized foot coverings to try shoes on with if you didn't wear socks. Never a good idea, unless you're wearing flip-flops. I was very impressed with the place, it's also very clean and well organized.

As a Vietnam era member of the Navy I found that much of the care given by the VA and private institutions did not satisfy my needs. Coming to Care Crafters changed all that. Not only are they a caring institution but they sought to fit me into the most advanced prosthetics available. It has changed my life and I have had a highly productive life that included years as a theater professional including the final ten as a teacher. Over the years, I have seen very good - and very bad - prosthetists. Chris Kort and Prosthetics in Motion is, hands down, the best experience I've ever had. My journey to Chris started over 20 years ago, in a facility that I loved at the time. I was receiving excellent care - until I wasn't. That prosthetist is a superb limb-maker, but over years he and some of his staff became arrogant and the process, which needs to be collaborative to work - became a power play. Chris worked with this prosthetist, and takes a lot of the same positive approaches, but he has none of the arrogance. Nor does anyone else in the facility. Prosthetics in Motion provides excellent care without any drama. From the moment I first called Prosthetics in Motion -in crisis - I knew this place was different. The person who answered the phone was respectful and kind, and clearly educated in the the business. She immediately told me the person with whom I should be speaking, gave me the name of the practice manager and said Rebecca would call me back. I spoke to Rebecca that day and I immediately felt comfortable and willing to trust. She was knowledgeable in her intake and discussion of the facility and the process, and she gave me more than sufficient information, but she clearly also was an educated and effective listener. In the course of the first phone call with Rebecca, I felt hope that my several years of depression about my legs was lifting. The first consultation appointment was six weeks away, but when I stressed the urgency of my situation, she spoke to Chris and fit me into the schedule within 6 or 7 days. My initial appointment with Chris gave me extreme confidence that Prosthetics in Motion was the place for me to be. He is a smart, kind, talented professional. And the other prosthetists are, too. They work as a team, and it is evident that they really learn from each other, so even the less experienced folk are truly excellent. In between the arrogant guy and Chris, I used another prosthetist. He, also, is kind and smart and has no arrogance, but the facility simply did not have the depth of knowledge and experience with above-knee bilateral amputees that Prosthetics in Motion has. That experience and education, along with Prosthetics in Motion's deep vendor relationships, has once again made my life one that works really well and seamlessly with prostheses, rather than a life that is all about prosthetics and constantly filled with limitation. Finally, I cannot emphasize enough how pleasant it is to go the facility. It is airy and bright and filled with natural light. There are parallel bars and a full size ramp and stairs, as well as a treadmill and other machines and lots of room for walking. Last week, Chris spent almost an hour with me teaching me to walk down the ramp, something I have never been able to master in 25 years of using C-legs. One of the very best parts is that Sal casted me for my first prosthetic on a Wednesday and I had my leg 5 days later on Wednesday and it fit like a glove. I'm in the process of getting castes for a pin lock system this week because Sal said my residual limb is desensitized and ready enough for it, it. Will make my waking faster, and that he can make the pin lock at least a few pounds lighter. I am so confident with them that I know I will be using them and only them dor the rest of my life.

On a personal note, my daughter is a Nurse at the Springfield Shriners. Since her young age of 4 she has wanted to be a Shriners Nurse. A friend of hers was a patient and she accompanied her friend and parent for a well visit and physical therapy. She was awe struck and with the continued influence of our family members in the Nursing field, our daughter made her dream come true in 2018. It's one not the smaller Shriner Facilities, but every one of them is staffed with kind and compassionate caring individuals. Many of whom work part-time due to budgetary constraints being a non-profit, so these professionals need to supplement their incomes by working per-diem at other Healthcare facilities. It's takes a special person to juggle and remain grounded caretakers. Our daughter has shared some very heart warming stories about the patients and their families situation. Each being unique from the other. I wish I could go into further detail, but out of respect of each patient I can't. Please trust me when I say, the Shriners organization in Springfield, Massachusetts works miracles, as does all of their other Hospitals. Happy NATIONAL NURSES WEEK Shriners and all others!

I had torn my ACL and came here quite awhile ago for a brace. Good overall service. Much better…read morethen I thought. I got alot of one on one time and they were overall very professional. The experience, which could have been dreadful, was not bad at all and I am appreciative of that. The only negative is that it is rather hard to get through to them. However if you get their machine leave a message. That is what I did and they did always get back to me. And it is not like I neve r got through but the majority of the time I did get a voice mail. They were also good at reminder calls about appointments. All in all, this was a much better experience then I ever anticipated.
