Remodeling my small oceanside Condominium, it was time for granite. I prefer to seek out small family owned local businesses whenever I look to hire a service. Family Rocks showed great promise with their reviews and website. I called and was told to pop into the shop anytime. I arrived during normal Business hours, and entered an empty office and show room. Empty as in no one there. I could hear activity in the back, Power tools etc. I poked my face through the "employees only" door, and observed several gentlemen clouded in white dust working away on various granite pieces. I decided to go outside and enter the shop from the rear which was wide open. I got a gentleman's attention, I felt bad for interrupting his work, he asked if he could help. I said I was looking for granite installation for a small condo kitchen, with a level one granite. He walked over to the small farm of granite slabs and asked me to pick one out. He was super polite but I could tell I was distracting him from work, so I didn't want to leisurely take my time snooping around each granite slab. Therefore I asked him to show me the level one granite section which he did, and I picked out the darkest, most neutral slab I saw. It was agreed to flip him my kitchen photos and measurements and they would call to send someone out to measure. Got the call, a nice gentleman came out and took measurements, said it would be a week or so, call the office to schedule installation. Called the office and schedule installation around a week out, cool. Day before installation day I was called and notified I would be pushed back several more days due to a job they had to go back and finish. They said it was a very large job and it ran over a bit because of being a little shorthanded and ran into some unexpected issues. Bummer, I worked hard by myself to power out the old countertops and get them ready to be hauled away, undo the plumbing and move the appliances, and provide a clean working area for them when they arrived. The old hurry up and wait. So, no kitchen appliances or running water until they show up. Had to do a lot of eating out, well in the car because many places we're still not open to indoor dining. Meanwhile I called to make sure we understood how many holes would be drilled for plumbing, what kind of sink came with the countertop and the dimensions. I never received a briefing on any of the "process, or inclusions" so if you are new at this make sure you ask plenty of questions if they don't offer to explain how the entire process works. When they arrived, I observed a friendly crew of young man who worked together like a well oiled machine, installing the heavy granite Via one flight of stairs. They cut the hole for the faucet outside, and polished the granite once it was in place. I tipped them and off they went. I love the granite. About 1800 bucks when all said and done, $300 more if I had not removed the countertops myself and hauled the way. You can see the video of the process on my YouTube channel 'Gene's Therapy'. They helped me with layout, install tips, of course loaded it for me. The job went well, but I'll say you should not attempt installing this unless you have lots of patience and watch the installs on social media first to pick up tips. Get the install kit while you are in the store. After I purchased, two weeks later our flooring went on sale. They gave us the sale price. Again, John and the team are fantastic!!

When install them showed up, they made every excuse to not install and delayed for 7 days. No one would communicate with me what was going on. I had to call the store everyday to see what was going on. Then I decided to not have store install floor and wanted refund for that amount. They then screwed around with what I should be refunded. The manager was nice enough and tried to help but process is competitive mismanaged.

This remodel included removal of the soffit box in the ceiling, opening up the pass through to the dining room and correcting several finds that weren't up to code (from the previous owner's update). Beware! We had Heller do a large custom kitchen, and 2 bathrooms. The primary reason for the 2…read morerating, is they've refused to address an improper install on an under the sink slide out drawer. A clearance of 1/16" was all that was left between the slide out and the sink P-trap. The drawer should have been installed lower, or a notch cut for allow proper clearance. Heller had denied all responsibility, and refuse to answer my request to speak with the owner. The P-trap shifted, hitting the drawer, caused a leak, and ruined it. There was also a few other issues that Heller wasn't customer focused on: install of the light rail (insisted that leaving a gap/caulking vs. notching of this feature normal, it is not! After back and forth, they agreed to do it correctly, and it was simple and looks great), and a few drawers that auto close/fit isn't correct on that they insist is "normal". Cabinet quality is fine, but NO true customer service. I'll add this was a $50K book of business. I would not recommend.
