Had to give 4 stars. The first attempt had to go back because of flaking off material in the inside of babies' shoes. (6. All w the same problem). The ladies at the front desk were very nice. The manager who dealt w my complaint was patronizing and borderline rude. She could benefit from some customer service lessons I would say. The final result was nice. Sad to learn ProShine Silver Refinishers are closing their doors after being in business since 1934. I was lucky enough to have sent my original French Art Deco coffee set to be replated. The pieces were bought in Paris many years ago at a flea market, north of Les Halles. The pieces had seen quite a bit of tumble and rumble. These just came back and are GORGEOUS! You not only replated the surfaces but also fixed the black bakelite handles, and all lid hinges! Thank you!! I hope you will be able to come back, perhaps as a smaller business and continue to do custom work. Yes, the demand for antiques is changing with the new generations, but some of us still love these pieces and there is still a market for these out there. Best of luck! read more

The reviewer who complained of not being able to reach them in Nov 2018 obviously didn't read the review from February 2018 saying the business was closing. I received my two newly replated silver items today and I don't remember them every looking as lovely! Both pieces were quite damaged. One in the shape of a small basket had been crushed in a move and the other was worn from use and from being washed over a period of years in extremely hot water. They are now glowing and beautifully shiny. Thank you! I will have my sterling compote ready for your repairs in the fall when you return to Houston. read more

I have attempted to speak with a live person at ProShine Silver Refinisher's to no avail for the past week. I am unable to leave a message due to the nature of my work, that I cannot receive calls very easily. I entered every extension available on the recording. This is a shell company where no one appears to work. And they have bankers hours! I am not willing to send an item to be resilvered if I cannot reach a person to speak with to answer my questions. So sorry to start the first review with a negative but I cannot recommend this place. In October I took two sterling silver candlesticks to a local jeweler to meet with the Bron-Shoe representative. The candlesticks had been a wedding gift to my mother had been her pride and joy. One was broken and wobbly on its base, both were very heavily tarnished. I paid $562 for repair and cleaning plus $60 for shipping and was told it would take 10-12 weeks. This is also stated in their brochure. I remember it clearly because I said, "then they won't be ready by Christmas" and the rep said clearly, no they wouldn't. Which was fine. I didn't especially want to use them for Christmas but I did want to get a clear time line. I went out of town in mid December and returned to find a very large box on the front porch. I have to tell you they did a beautiful job. The broken candlestick has been repaired and they both shine like the top of the Chrysler Building. But they were left sitting outside in plain view of all the world for two full days. Why they weren't stolen is a mystery to me. A Christmas miracle maybe. Please remember that I paid $60 to ship two small (3") candlesticks. When I contacted them about their lack of interest in safe return I was told it was my problem ~ I should have told them I would be out of town!!! And I might have done so if I had been told that they might be ready before the middle of January! Having paid $60 for shipping they should have requested a signature on delivery. $60 for two 3" candlesticks, people!!! Requesting a signature would be no trouble at all and it would have safe guarded the items I paid $60 to ship. So, the bottom line is that they do very nice work but once the work is done and they have been paid their $562 they are no longer interested in what happens to your heirlooms. They are not books from Amazon or shoes from Zappos. They are irreplaceable and expensive items and the folks at Bron-Shoe are totally indifferent to what happens to them. Take your business elsewhere. It doesn't matter how shiny your silver is if you never see it again. read more

I recently (2016) had a tray and a tea pot re-plated (silver) by this company. They did a FABULOUS job on both pieces! I really regret not having done this sooner! Their representative was at a local jewelry store for a day or two, collecting pieces to be replated. She took care of mailing them to Bron-Shoe. She gave me a completion date, and I received them about a month early. They sent me an email with a tracking number for the UPS delivery. I would HIGHLY recommend using this company if you have any family treasures that need replating. THANK YOU, Bron-Shoe!!! read more

I took an International Sterling Revere reproduction 6" bowl to have old lacquer removed, a dent in the lip repaired, and polished. The cost was $250. I received it a few months later and it seemed to look great. Upon closer examination, however, I saw several spots on the inside of the bowl that hadn't been buffed out. I sent an email to a company rep about this, and the reply stated that the problem was in the "base metal" and the surface couldn't be fixed. I emailed back and told them there was no base metal, the bowl is solid sterling. They said they misspoke, and the problem was in the silver itself, according to their silversmith of 30 years. However, I have had quite a bit of silver and goldsmithing experience, and I never had a piece of silver (unless it was a bad casting) that could not be worked down into a polished surface with tripoli, white diamond and rouge. I would hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. read more

Like Daisy Y. I had taken a tea and coffee service of my grandmother's and a large lazy susan of my own - 8 pieces in all- to a local jeweler to meet with the Bron-Shoe representative. While my piece was over 50 years old and very tarnished, my grandmother's pieces are over 70 years old had lost most of the sterling and were pitted. I paid close to $3,000 to have these pieces redone and I do not remember the cost to ship but there were 3 very large boxes. We were also told about 8 weeks to complete the work. The boxes were left at the front door and I hold UPS accountable as well. I also feel very lucky that they were not taken. I did not contact Bron-Shoe but was surprised to read that a phone call to notify of shipment was the norm as none was made to me. The work is beautiful and the pieces shine like new. My Aunt is very excited to see her mother's silver service looking like new. I would like to know that new procedures have been established to verify that a call has been made to the customer so that he/she can be on the lookout for the package(s). It would also be very beneficial given the cost of the work on these irreplaceable items to require the delivery company obtain a signature on receipt.
