I have never been on a motorcycle before. I literally didn't know how to turn on a motorcycle before taking my 6 day Survival Rider course at ProRide. I was very nervous at first but the instructors were very patient yet very firm on the basic habits, which are VERY important. Day 1, I was stalling the bikes like a champion. I found it very difficult to slow turn without stalling and putting my foot down. I was getting used to the clutch and other controls (and the location of the horn). I felt I was a little behind in the class because I have never been on a scooter I don't know how to drive standard. Auto, John, Brian, and the rest of the crew were great teachers and always available to answer the questions I had (I am very analytical). I went from not knowing anything about motorcycles to passing the first ICBC test within 4 days so I could remove my speed and supervisor restriction. The road rides were amazing and the ingrained habits that were taught to me immediately kicked in. The training was very valuable and we did encounter hazards during our day rides. On the 6th day, I even hopped onto the CBR 600 for the last highway ride... what a thrill! One week later, I purchased a new CBR 650 and I have about 1000km of experience now. I don't stall at all in the city, I haven't even come close to dropping my bike, and I am very confident during both high and low speeds. I can't thank the crew at ProRide enough. I also can't imagine hopping onto a bike without taking this course. I read a lot of reviews before choosing ProRide as the motorcycle training school I wanted to attend. I figured, if it was half as good as people were saying it was, it would be worth it. It was. I never review shops or businesses because I am never truly impressed and I don't want to damage a companies reputation just because I didn't have a 5 star experience. But, ProRide did not disappoint. The class sessions were a little dry, but they made the best of it. I have always had a hard time staying focused in class, so my opinion on the classroom session doesn't pull much weight. It was very informative, John and Joel made the best of it. The closed course training was where I was blown away. The first Day in the parking lot we were greeted by Matt. He was very helpful with getting us sorted with rain gear (It was dumping all day with heavy rain). I can't really put into words who Matt is and his style of teaching, but it was next level. He was friendly, helpful, hilarious and supportive. All at the same time. He may come across as a macho know it all, but that is not the case. Matt is the epitome of cool. He may seem young, but don't let that fool you, he knows what he's talking about and has the experience to back it up. Otto & Erica were also very helpful and supportive. 100% beyond what any exepctations I had going into the course with ProRIDE. To put it simply- it was an experience. To explain the experience I will put it this way. The lessons , the progression or lessons, and the instructors ability to adapt to the individual needs on the bike was fantastic. Throughout all of the skills training- the instructors not only checked in with us , but also would bring is aside and adapt to my fellow students abilities. Additional to this - each instructor ( thought they all had their own styles) was approachable, friendly, and able to keep even the most safety intense lesson light and through humor keep us in the moment. In truth you beofre you realize it , your controlling and manipulating the motorcycles and road ready. I had searched a number of the local motorcycle schools online. I decided on Pro-Ride for a reason, most notably the pre-test run through that they offer for graduates of their in-class and parking lot riding school. I just completed the school today, and could not be happier. I feel better prepared than ever to get some miles under me before I take the ICBC road test, and Matt, Brian and Otto were fantastic instructors. They have a great sense of humour, they make dry material interesting, and they've got an amazing set of programs available to their graduates that are worth taking advantage of. This was a great experience overall, and I truly encourage anyone thinking of getting their motorbike licence in the Lower Mainland to put these folks at the very top of their list when picking a school. read more

If there were 6 stars available I would give them that! I took the survival riding course over a weekend and had fun the entire time! I haven't ridden a motorcycle before, I've only been a passenger, and don't drive standard so I was pretty nervous and intimidated coming up to this course. The instructors are amazing and keep the energy up while in the classroom and on the bikes! They keep everyone smiling and it definitely turned my nerves into excitement for riding. My entire group was great, there were 14 of us in the class at all different levels of riding. We all had a blast together and will probably end up being riding buddies this summer. I had a fantastic experience with the Pro Ride team and consider their course to be money very well spent! I really do feel remarkably equipped now as a Survival Rider!.Brian's classroom sessions are packed with crucial information and delivered in a way that makes four hours pass like just one. On Skills Test day Brian provided the perfect balance between discipline and friendly support. Day One on the lot, Jen's approach to instruction and coaching was great for building our skills and confidence; she was fantastic at accurately pointing out what each of us need to work on. On the road rides she was a star, inspiring confidence, steadiness and ease. The follow-up support of a refresher/pre-test ride and a cheerleading presence on test day were invaluable. I was new to biking and it took a long time to build up confidence but Brian, Otto, John, Matt and the whole team have been such great support and the training I received has made me a confident, safe and knowledgeable rider. Course is a must for those who want to ride safely. I arrived on day 1 never having been on a bike before. I felt safe and secure the entire time. Instructors are great. The format is efficient so that you get on the bikes quickly. Everyone in our group were able to pass the skills tests with ease. The pre-road test prep rider is invaluable and likely was the difference in ensuring I passed the final road test. The team was always accessible and highly responsive. Honestly, I'm not the kid of guy who writes reviews constantly; but at the same time, these guys deserve a 5 star review. I just finished my 6 day course at ProRide and I couldn't be happier. The instructors are amazing, the environment is friendly, and most importantly, you leave knowing how to properly ride a motorcycle. For people who want to learn how to ride safely, this course is definitely recommended, even if you think your knowledge skills from driving can transfer to riding, its somewhat different when you are on a motorcycle. Expectations for a "training" course were BLOWN AWAY. These guys LOVE what they do and are true experts on the bikes. Everyone on the team provided exceptional advice, guidance, anecdotes and a splash of humour to help lighten the nerves.
