Made a mistake of buying a cheap skateboard for my 6yr old off Amazon and was told I need to get a better board so I found proof lab on Yelp. Came in mid morning and Monty was at the shop, very very knowledgeable and very friendly. Showed me some options and put together a board in no time. Great place for skateboard and they have a list of local instructors too if you want lessons. Can't say enough good things about Monty. He is the guy for all your skateboard needs. Just came to visit from out of town to have my nephews skateboard fixed. Super clean shop and very good selection of quality decks as well as old school decks. Great service, the guy helped me with getting new hardware installed for my nephews vision deck. One of the bolts were stripped and he managed to get that bad boy off. read more

I called Proof Lab at 7:05pm today, as I had been caught up at work all week (and Sat) and wanted to get my new board taped up. I called to see if they were open and they had just closed, but Monty said that he'd wait around for me to make sure I would get my grip tape all set for my 3 Day Vacay. There aren't many local shops like that left that are passionate about skating AND their customers. Support your local skate shops people and visit Proof Lab! They care about customers, go the extra mile to help and they know what they are talking about (not like some corporate shops that poorly tape decks and only talk about riding longboards. No need to mention those stores by name, you guys know what I'm talking about!) read more

I don't skate or anything cool like that, but I have been in this shop spontaneously and must say that they have a wide variety of great merchandise. From cool socks and hats to women's and men's apparel, there are many things I would buy for myself or as gifts for others. They also have a lot of Marin/Bay Area themed apparel, which is cool and unique. read more

Waste of time unless you want clothes. They have some park decks and trucks and just enough to maybe be called a board shop. I didn't see any pads, or helmets. They have no cruisers, downhill or freeride boards. I asked where I might find this stuff around and they couldn't help me. The guy who helped me didn't seem to care too much. Funny because today in Marin I just hit some sick downhills and need to replace my wheels and gloves. Oh well. I will use the internet. read more

This is as much a review of a coach the shop refers to, Jeremy Boucher, as much as it is the shop itself. We went in to get a birthday skateboard and gear for our 7 year old daughter, who had never skated. We got a great board, with the salesperson only recommending upgraded components that would actually make learning to skate easier for our daughter. Came away feeling we got a board that would let our daughter learn and grow on, at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and they had a fantastic inventory of decks, parts, clothing and equipment. They're not pushy and really seem to just enjoy what they do and their customers. Now, as for Jeremy Boucher. As our daughter had never been on a board, we asked about lessons. The sales guy discussed a lot of good options, including clinics at the Mill Valley store and private lessons. They gave us Jeremy's card in case we were interested in getting some private lessons. Our daughter had her first lesson with Jeremy today at the Corte Madera skate park. When I met him, he was very pleasant, very professional and just an all around nice guy. Keeping in mind our daughter had very limited time on her board and was very much a beginner, I thought he'd start with some basic, simple foot placement, pushing, turning etc. Jeremy spent a few minutes evaluating our daughter and next thing I know, they're working on kick turns and hitting the ramps (scared dad)! Jeremy was super patient, working extremely well to gain our girl's trust and make her confident in what she was doing. After an hour, here ability at least quadrupled from when she arrived at the park and our daughter had a fantastic time. I would never have believed she would walk away from the lesson learning some of the things she did (including a lot more confidence on her board). She has her next lesson set for next week and we couldn't be happier with Jeremy's work. HIGHLY recommend him. read more
