This is just an old corner store with a little bit of everything that you need. For me, it has a small Italian accent which is nice. We found the breadcrumb stuffed peppers we were looking for, the deli had sweet Lebanon Bologna, pork roll, and Italian pasta salad with cubed salami and mozzarella in it which was great! They also had great pickled eggs. It is super convenient for the neighborhood by having a miniature version of all the big chain grocery store's departments. Friendly staff. read more

I'll be making a special trip from Lancaster more often. When I moved to Hershey 25 years ago, I found Pronios Market. The legacy and cultural significance of the Italian grocer still exists within this establishment. Selections, in every department are ample and impeccable. The work ethic is evident. Returning home with my procured groceries, meat, produce, cheese, Pronio's own Olive oil and a few specialty items, was a day well spent. What drew me to this store were a couple things... 1) I love checking out places off the regular beaten path. Pronio's is located in a very cute residential neighborhood that is about a block off the main road in downtown Hershey. Very reminiscent of your long-gone small town supermarkets. The staff that took I had direct contact with were incredibly warm and welcoming. They even had bag boys that would help you carry out your purchase to your car. 2) I really didn't want to deal with the impersonal concrete jungle stores. From the minute I walked into the store, I felt like I was revisiting my youth. Again the personal service is something you are hard pressed to find these days. 3) One of the nicest things I found in this amazing little gem was the fact that they had a full service meat market where they cut the meats on site. Although I didn't purchase anything from the meat department, I did see a handful of customers picking up custom cut meat orders. The last time I saw this (with the only exceptions being Whole Foods, Wegmans, or even Karns) was probably the 1990's. 4) One thing that put the biggest smile on my face was the fact that I'm their deli, they had a wonderful selection of premade salad and easy meal ideas. Since I didn't feel inspired to cook this evening, they had a nice selection of heat-n-eat meals (their buffalo chicken pasta salad and pork bbq are absolutely incredible). They also had house made apple bread pudding (an unplanned indulgence purchase). To say that those three items were fantastic would be a HUGE understatement. The folks at Pronio's obviously know what they are doing. It sounds cliche, but they definitely put a ton of love into their food and customer service. I am looking forward to making a return visit. I was incredibly impressed and cannot stop singing praises for them. read more

Small town grocery store that you dont see much anymore due to the invasion of Walmarts, Targets and Giants found in pretty much any area. Came in for a sandwich and soda, but was kinda disappointed at their equivalent of an "Italian" sub. They had a selection of pre-made sandwiches, ham, turkey and Italian. Less than $5 and came with a soda, so the price was right, but i couldnt identify the meats on their and it didnt taste much like any true Italian sub. Unfortunately, they have a deli case with different and higher end meats like prosciutto and soppressata, but dont make a sandwich from them. I understand they probably dont want to pre-make a bunch of higher-end sandwiches that might not sell, but at least off them for sale. Other than that, this is a typical small grocery store that has a small selection of everything, from fresh produce, household items, canned and boxed good, chips, soda, etc. They bag and will even bring your groceries out to your car for you, something you certainly dont see anywhere. Parking lot across the street or on adjacent streets. I dont live in the area (and probably wouldnt shop here if i did), and they didnt have anything i would come back for when in the area for lunch again, so only 3 stars. read more

I've lived in Harrisburg, New Jersey, New York, Baltimore and Boston- all cities with Little Italy's and large Italian populations. I have yet to find a market equal in quality to Pronio's. Everything they sell is spot on. The meat department is simply the best- from cold cuts to sausages and much much more they have the best tasting and best quality products. Every time family members visit Boston from Harrisburg, I ask them to pick up a big order from Pronio's! I'll be down in Hershey in two weeks and can't wait to stop by! read more

Pronio's is a great little grocery and historic treasure of Hershey. It has one of the best delis on the planet; sausage and ground meat made in house, steaks, subs, olives, I could go on and on. Friends of ours buy 10lb of Italian sausage every time they are in town. In a world of Walmart and Amazon it is so nice to have a locally owned grocery within walking distance of home. (RIP Pronios hardware) Obviously the selection is not quite as extensive as GIANT down the road, but they have everything you need. Some things are more expensive but others are significantly cheaper... look for sale items. There is also a great selection of imported Italian food that would be hard to find anywhere. What you really go for is the friendly atmosphere and to keep your dollars in the community. Thank you Pronio's, good luck with the next 100 years! read more

This is a great mom and pop grocery store that specializes in Italian items. I usually come for the peppers and other items from the deli which is the best in the area. I recommend the apple sausages, best I have ever had! read more

If you're staying at the Days Inn a block away (which I don't recommend) you'll want to avail yourself of Pronio's great, inexpensive take-out homemade soups in the deli section and the decent (also cheap) prepared foods. Privately owned -- always a good thing -- very friendly cashiers. read more

All-around good grocery store with Italian options I live a few blocks from Pronio's. I do most of my food shopping there. It's a fantastic place for meat and they have competitive prices for groceries, with great weekly sales. If you are a small household, you can get a package of 2 steaks or 3 beets or a quart of milk without any special effort. In the big stores all the meat and produce packages are huge. The quality of the meat is excellent and the butchers do special orders very carefully. I had several pounds of beef cut in thin strips so I could make home-made jerky, for example. Prepared foods are outstanding - meatballs, sausage, meatloaf, ham spread, soups, all excellent. Recently they have developed a relationship with DiBruno's from the Italian Market in Philadelphia. They now carry many DiBruno's house-made Italian specialties such as cheeses, baked goods and sweets. This is a full-service grocery store, not a sandwich shop that sells a few groceries. One reviewer was upset because they don't make sandwiches to order. Hershey has half a dozen Italian eateries that do that already. But Pronio's is in a class by itself. read more

A long-time (nearly a century) Hershey institution, Pronio's offers a surprisingly large (Italian- and Pennsylvania Dutch-oriented) selection for such a small store. The butcher department is solid, the deli counter is small but very good quality (including a lot of store-made items), the staff is pleasant, and the prices are terrific. read more

Pronio's is the kind of market you wouldn't think existed any longer -- the kind of neighborhood store that all right-thinking people appreciate. The selection is spectacular for such a small store, with well-stocked deli and meat counters, very nice fresh produce, and some pretty exotic Italian foods that one would be hard-pressed to find even in a place like Wegmans. Of note: The meatloaf is other-worldly good. I've always HATED meatloaf, but Pronio's made a fan out of me; their loaf is now a regular in our household dinner rotation. The service is wonderful, from the smiling checkout staff, to the well-scrubbed, tie-wearing, courteous young men who bag your groceries and offer to carry them to your car. I didn't think they made kids like this anymore. When they go home at night, it must be to the 1950s. Just a wonderful place to shop. read more

It's been a long time since I've last seen a charming neighborhood grocer like Pronio's. After seeing a mention that Alton Brown had stopped here when he was in town, I decided to make the 30 minute trip to check it out. It was well worth it! They may not have the selection of a Wegmans or Giant but they more than make up for it in the quality of their products. As others have mentioned, the star of their show is the variety of meat and deli products. The meatballs and sausage are amazing. I always stock up when I'm in the area. Their minestrone soup is delicious, as well. I love that they offer so many quick dinner options at reasonable prices. They also have a good selection of imported cheeses. Staff has always been super friendly and helpful. I envy those that live more locally to Pronio's.. this old school neighborhood grocer is truly phenomenal. read more

Old school mom and pop neighborhood grocery store that specializes in Italian items. They have a great selection of high quality Italian olive oils and balsalmic vinegar. The meat department and deli are outstanding. House made hot Italian sausage is the greatest (they have sweet sausage too) and their square hamburger patties are one our favorites. Keep an eye out for various racks that have interesting, hard to find products from Italy. By today's standards, Pronio's is a tiny store but has all your needs. Check Pronio's out and be sure to get some Italian sausage. 5 stars without a doubt! read more

I was recently recommended Pronio's by a good friend and am so glad I went in! The fresh hot italian sausage, the fresh hamburger patties, and the meatballs are all amazing and surprisingly cheap for how good of a quality they are.
