I came to Tim on recommendation from my father and brother. My 2015 Scion tc needed the CV joint axle replaced. Tim quoted me quickly and fairly. The part itself was more expensive than labor. I showed up to Promise auto at opening time and secured a loaner car which is great. Not many shops have loaner cars you can borrow to run errands while your car is being worked on. Tim and Ann are the best. I drop off all my vehicles with them . a blind buy 95 f150 for a full front end rebuild, taillight repair, and fuel tank repair it now drives like factory. C5 corvette fiberglass repair and paint came out looking like glass! Hes worked on my 1960 karmann ghia doing a full paint job and rust repair that won me some local awards at VW meet ups. He's worked on our 1987 Ferrari gts doing an amazing paint match in Ferrari's which is very hard to do. A 1967 Camaro rs convertible motor rebuild. Timothy the new owner has worked for the previous owner longer than I can remember. Recently I towed my 2002 Honda Accord V6 to Promise Auto thinking that my motor had given out. The car was shaking at idle, and felt like it had blown a head gasket or some major engine issue. Not knowing the amount of damage driving the car might incur I called Tim and explained my situation. Tim listened to my story and told me to bring the car in so that he could diagnose the problem. Within 2 hours of leaving my car he called with the good news, that the motor was fine and actually 2 of my ignition coils had given out. So pretty much my car was running at 66% or 2/3 of the power. So instead of just making me pay dearly for a number of possible engine fix remedies that most shops would recommend, Tim said he could get get the car back up and running with 2 new coils + labor for $250 out the door. I was initially thinking that I need to start looking for another car but $250 to get my car back and running like before was a steal. Tim is an honest guy and really takes the time to make sure your car is safe and sound while not trying to break your bank. I would highly recommend Promise Auto for all your car maintenance needs. read more

I came in for a spark plugs change and Promise Auto went above and beyond as always and here is the story . I usually go to other place for my oil change and maintenance and was told everything was okay . Promise Auto told me that all four of my tires need to be replaced right away because it was super worn out and would affect my safety. I needed my rear brakes changed badly. When at a different auto body place they wanted 100's to change them out so I decided to buy the rear brakes myself to put on or take to a mechanic that would do it for a fair price. Since Promise had a good rating I contacted them. The guy I spoke with was curious and told me it'd be less than an hour to get me out plus to change both brakes out in the rear was a fair amount so I went there. Upon arrival I spoke with him and right away they started working on my vehicle. Half way through I told him about my tires being rotated since the rear tires were already off. He was kind in his thought process of rotating them. Overall, I am a tough sell since customer service is highly lacking in our society but here they treated me well, offered a fair price and he kept his word with quickly getting me on the road again. It is really hard to find an good mechanic. Near impossible to find a great one. I've gone through many in my years. No one is going to be perfect. I stumbled across this one nearly 10 years ago. I've been to some in Torrance that were downright con artists. Not going to call them out but I had one guy try to charge me for a headlight replacement for $450, when I knew it was only a bulb replacement....which Tim independently assessed w an honest charge of $20. No one in this industry is right 100% of the time. My assumption is that you will always have to take a chance. After nearly 4 decades of having car issues from east coast to west, I'll take my chances with Tim and Promise Auto. They've serviced my Toyota, Infiniti, Mercedes, and Porsche. I used to take my Tesla model s to Jim and Jack in el Segundo but they always gave me an attitude about them being Tesla certified shop and they don't care if you have to wait weeks just to get a part. I was referred to Promise by a friend of mine when I was getting quoted really high at two different places. I needed a simple repair for my glove box and Tim was really helpful and accommodating. It took him a minute to tell me that I needed one piece that would cost $12.95 me at the dealership. While I was there, I asked for new windshield wipers and my drivers side door to be fixed because it wouldn't stay open. These requests were all taken care of at a great price I had all that fixed in one trip and I will continue to drive back here (about 15 miles) for any auto repair needs in the future. Tim's a rockstar he doesn't leave you in the dark and is quick to respond and send updates on the car. I bought a c5 corvette with fiber glass damage and a broken harmonic balancer. I bought an ATI super damper and he installed it along with new belts and didn't overcharge me. I wasn't charged an arm and a leg for it like at the stealerships. He also paint matched and corrected the front end I couldn't even tell there was any damage after looking at it.
