One of the most beautiful beach walks I've ever had the pleasure of walking. It was pretty busy tonight, but it's a Saturday and in June. It's tourist season! It goes on for quite sometime, but the views are breathtaking and you'll have the sea on one side of you, while amazing hotels and restaurants to the other. Plus people watching and noticing all the different languages. There are also top quality street performers as well. In the end, it was an amazing walk, and I advise anyone in Nice to give it a shot.

The promenade is along the coast of the beach, so you get a beautiful view as you're walking. There's tons of active people around, so be careful for that. Also, lots of swanky boutique hotels and restaurants on the strip for you to stop in and enjoy. It reminds me of a posh area of Miami, but much much more classier. It's also not a far walk from Old Town either, so make sure to walk the promenade and stop in for some macarons and gelato right on the promenade.

I don't have anything bad to say about Nice, France. I knew going to France that I would get looked at weird for not knowing the language. It was a great experience to be able to see the gorgeous pebble stone beach and walk the promenade and be able to eat in front of the sea and just have a great time. Some people were nice and others not so much but again I knew that going in. It was gorgeous and I was absolutely amazed! I dont know if I would go back but if I do I would definitely stay on the water front and interact more with locals!

How Nice is Nice? You tell me, It's never been my cup of tea especially over the past twenty years. It is overgrown, impossible to park, expensive and really is no longer a reflection of the Cote d''Azur. I bet that within the next ten years it will become an entire cimented city just like Monaco which l don't care for either. We stayed up on Mont Boron in Nice, an upscale community with extra large terraces on both sides of our apartment and a view of the city and the Mediterranean sea. It is a bit of a tortuous way up on the hill with very narrow roads but for us it was worth driving the extra mile away from the loud downtown yet we were only 10mns away by foot.

A gorgeous promenade in Nice that hugs the coastline with a beach that follows the promenade for quite a while. Many private beaches dotted along the way with thousands of chairs for hire. It's similar to the Marine Drive in Mumbai or many other places like Venice Beach or Miami. This one just happens to be in France. You can hear the planes coming in for landing every two three minutes (see photo) and whilst the first couple are cool, I imagine it would get to me after the 100th plane has zipped past for landing. There are some lovely building along the promenade and the view is great but for me it's just a beach tourist area for all intents and purposes. I know people love it and I am probably amongst the few that don't think this is exciting :-)) It's lovely and I am sure you will like it :-) Given the choice I would probably spend more time in the old city of Nice, which I love :-)))

This is the famous Promenade des Anglais, that's talked about in all tour books, etc. It's the must see ocean boulevard, so to speak.. You'll get great views of the ocean aka Cote d'Azur from here, so enjoy. We were fortunate to come during sunset so everything was so lovely! :) All pedestrians and runners share this boardwalk, so it can get crowded. Be careful...

Best place on earth "Promenade Des Anglaís" The view from my apartment.

The most beautiful place on earth!!! Gorgeous view!!! Great restaurants and the Promenade Des Anglaís is so lively at anytime of the day and night. I don't think anyone could ever be disappointed here. Truly AMAZING!!!

Amazing views, amazing beaches, amazing food! Having a car made everything easier- driving up to Cannes and Eze made the trip a lot more exciting. I would recommend you check out Eze- it was my favorite part of the Cote D'Azur vacation!

Elton John and Steven Spielberg have owned homes here. Narrow medieval streets with winding alley ways are lit at night by old lamps which expose multi-colored French balconies, windows and beautifully colored red tiled roof buildings with rich histories. Street performers entertain in the evenings as you stroll through the narrow streets. Colorful and artistic personalities seem to gravitate to this part of town. It gets very hot in the summer but Old town Nice is blessed with many shade trees and the breeze from the sea is welcomed.. Small unique shops that sell local soaps, boutique clothing and perfumes can be found. There are also some more modern shops. Open air markets selling flowers, candies and sea food add much to the overall vibe of this area of Nice. I love gelato and thought the French have a nice version but I prefer Italian gelato.

I love seeing that after all these years, they manage to keep this part of France so old fashioned, just how I like it.

At the port we loaded onto a tour bus, which took us to the Old Town Square area on the Mediterranean Sea. We were visiting Nice for the first time with another couple of our friends. As we were touring the old town square center, we decided to stop at the El Merkado Restaurant for a snack and some cocktails. We had a nice table for 4 outside. We ordered two of their cheese boards and some local red wine. The cheese board and local red wine was spectacular. There was lots of cheese to eat. We could not eat all the cheese. We should have ordered only one cheese board for the four of us. Service here was very good for us Americans who could barely speak French. Our total bill for both of us was 58 euro. I would return here for another cheese board. After our lunch and some shopping we took our tour bus back to the port to return to our ship. Nice was a very pretty town.

I actually think the straciatella was one of the best things I've ever tasted. That and the halloumi, as well as the ceviche, were our favorite items. The octopus, both in the fritto misto and the grilled octopus, was unfortunately rubbery. Overall, I would definitely recommend Castel Plage for a lunch or dinner. However, I had to dock a few stars for the service quality at the beach club itself. I understand that the venue is large and busy, but there's really no excuse for how inattentive the staff were. We were sat and told to peruse the menu, then didn't see our attendant at all. After about an hour and half later, and multiple unsuccessful attempts to catch the eye of our attendant, another group pointed their attendant in our direction so we could finally order just some water and drinks. Overall, I would highly recommend the food at Castel Plage, but I would suggest looking elsewhere on the beach for a true luxurious beach club experience.
