Amazing selection of yarn in beautiful colors and different fibers to suit your project. I am fairly new to crochet and this was my first time visiting a dedicated yarn store. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without hovering. I think four different staff must have assisted me or answered my questions about which fiber textiles worked best for the different projects I had in mind. One even shared a stitch for crochet that I will try: linen stitch. It can be intimidating and overwhelming trying to figure out which yarns work best for different uses and everyone was so helpful. I drove an hour down from Orlando because this store had the most recommendations on reviews and reddit threads and I'm so glad I did. Will be returning for sure and looking forward to catching some of their limited release skeins.

I was in Florida, visiting a friend, and talked her into making the 2 hour trip to Four Purls. Walking in, I was amazed! The place really is HUGE - the largest yarn shop I'v ever been in. The owners were really nice, explaining how the store in laid out with regard to the yarn weights. I asked about Cashmere yarn; they had it. Yak yarn; they had it. Yarns from countries that I didn't know produced yarns - Japan. They have their own private label yarn as well. This is a destination store if you're anywhere in Florida. If you use yarn in any way, you will love this place. I told my friend I'll be back to visit, if only to go back to Four Purls.

The staff were attentive and friendly, walking around to each table to check on each person and guide them along the process. The work areas were large and it was nice sound with others to guide and help each other also. There really wasn't an overall explanation on how to do the monogram on the box so we struggled with this until a staff member came by and guided us on the process but by then all but 1 monogram was on a box. Wish there would have been just a bit more overall instructions on this is how we put on and take off the monogram. Overall the experience was lovely and I think everyone really enjoyed it. Great place to have a party or come take part in a workshop.

They had ewctangular tables lined up through the shop that accommodated like 8 people a piece. They walked everyone through the process at the same time and took the time to check on everyone during the process. They allowed us to bring in food and drinks for the party so their was a mixture of home made and store bought stuff. As far as I could tell, the kids all enjoyed it and so did the parents who also participated. It was definitely a neat experience and something thatwould be fun for younger families and maybe even a corporate outing or something similar. There is quite a bit to remember, so pay attention so you can explain it to your littles as you go. They had a great selection of pottery to choose from with a good mix of prices. There is a $10 studio charge in addition to the cost of the pottery to cover the materials and studio time, but there's no limit to how long you can spend painting, which I appreciated! When you're done, you leave the pottery there so they can fire it. They said it takes about 3-5 days to complete it. I'm excited to see how ours turn out! We had a great time, and my niece is dying to go paint more pottery!

The Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-Op is a non profit that was created in 1992 by three Lake Placid Artists: Carol Mills, Harriet Porter, and Suellen Robinson. The ladies wanted to create a place for local artists and crafters to display and market their creations to the public. The store is like Etsy shop that you can walk around in person. Artists join the co-op so they can sell their creations. There are approximately 50 artists selling painted furniture, crochet blankets, tote bags, wreaths, trinket boxes, tea towels, note cards, jewelry, aprons, glasses, holiday decorations, faux floral arrangements, Christmas ornaments, art work for the wall, and more. I especially loved the delicate caladium earrings which were perfect for the festival. Everyone who was working was so kind and warm to me and the prices were more than fair for such skilled handiwork in the mediums of wood, textiles, glass, canvas, and metal. In addition to selling the work of artists, the co-op also has a room in the back that offers a variety of classes. You can view the current offerings on Facebook. A recent project was a rope bowl. If I lived locally I would be a regular visitor to this inspirational and welcoming space.
