My first experience with Prolango was its free, introductory Job Search Optimization seminar. I was so impressed with the concrete, methodical, practical job search tips based on extensive market research that I decided to invest in the series of three job search workshops and boot camp. Paul Anderson understands both the science and the psychology of the job /candidate search process. Unlike other job search seminars I went to, he did not just preach 'follow your passion and persevere'. By signing up to be in the fee-based program, you also get access to invaluable resources on interviewing methods. After two months of boot camp, and 40 some informational interviews later, I found my dream job. Ultimately, as with anything, you have to find the job yourself. I just went to my second ProLango Seminar and I found it invigorating. The first seminar that I attended was last year and I enjoyed it however this years seminar was better. I feel like the presenter is truly genuine and the information (to me) was very helpful. I did sign up for the January Workshops through ProLango (I'll have to update after I take them). I've never been to their mixers but then I hate large networking events I'm more of a small one on one person. I do have to say the new location in Bellevue was some what challenging to find as the building sign is literally behind parked cars. Also the free seminar could have been a little longer. *Update* I said I would update after I took the paid workshops and here it is: I loved them. I was leery about spending 5 hours for 3 days in a classroom but it was worth it. I learned things that I didn't know that I didn't know...if that makes sense. Again I could be just clueless...but I did work at one of the largest software companies in the area. Using the skills that I learned in the 3 day workshops I'm interviewing at a top electronic commerce company ;-). In the past I had trouble even getting a phone screen and next week I go in for an in person! I can honestly say I got my money's worth. They're program is $$$ so if you're on a fixed income or looking for a lower level job this isn't the place for you (I would recommend your local work source office). I did sign up for their bootcamp program as I'm the type of person that needs someone to walk me through things but hopefully with this new interview I'll be "graduating" soon! Paul's free seminar was excellent. I got insight from the employer's side of the desk and stuff to think about. I dare say the seminar would be helpful for most people who are in the job market. The mixer wasn't a fit for me, though. It took me only minutes to figure that out. "Awkward" is how I'd describe it. But, hey, I guess some people like that kind of thing. Had I gone to the mixer first, I may never have gone to Paul's seminar. So it's a good thing I went to the seminar first. read more

I used Prolango to find my current job. With that said, I didn't use many of their features because I got it on the first try at a networking mixer! They hold free networking mixers once a month. I have been to two so far. There are a lot of job searchers- obviously. The types of employers are kind of a mixed bag- mostly finance and marketing- but I find the important thing is to not just focus on the employers. There are people there just to network who are helpful. Even those searching for a job might lead you to something! I have kept in touch with several people from these mixers. Prolango also offers free career search optimization seminars. I had heard good things and actually signed up for one but then could not attend because I was busy at my new job! My friend has been to a few though. I know some of the services and events cost money, but check out these free ones plus the newsletter and see where that leads. Maybe you'll want to want to sign up for a class with a cost, maybe you'll just stick to free events or maybe you'll find a job from it right away like me! I attended a Prolango mixer that was advertised to my college alumni Linked-in group. My husband and I met a few friendly people (none of whom had attended my alma mater, apparently it was a general "mixer") but most attending were part of the paid-for career bootcamp they offer. In addition, my husband listed his employer on his networker name tag (your name tag identifies you as a job seeker, networker, or employer)... halfway through the evening he was pulled aside and Very Rudely told that the mixer was "sponsored" by a particular financial services company and that, basically, he was not welcome there! We were very disappointed and will not be attending their future mixers. Why Its A No-Go 1: Advertised as for alumni group, but just no-host cocktail mixer 2: Most attending were job seekers in the paid-for "bootcamp," trying to learn to network 3: Employed persons were invited as networkers, but husband was rudely told to leave because employer was a competitor of the evening's "sponsor" (although nothing was free, so what did they sponsor?). I am continually impressed by the caliber of talent present at the ProLango dot com monthly career mixer. It is not a job fair. I attend as a "networker" to be an ad-hoc mentor to folks that I have something in common with. read more

If you are looking for a new job or need some career guidance as you look for a change I can't recommend Prolango Consulting fast enough. I have attended a few other career enhancement work shops and seminars and while they have beeen helpful the methods I learned from Prolango have never let me down. As an introvert their recommendations, helpful advice, and accessibility have given me confidence where I didn't have it before. I have also developed a level of self esteem in my job search that I would not have acheived if it wasn't for their help and services. Their free seminar was what caught my attention and that alone was so instrumental that I signed up for their other courses. The ProLango Workshops and Boot Camp have had a huge positive impact on me and the techniques were incredibly effective and ultimately helped me get a job. For me, the most powerful elements of the course are the strategies on how to reach out and effectively network with people face to face. Prolango services are not bad, but they are something different than what is advertised. The success rate is a fraction of what the management says it is, so the misrepresentation is purposeful. This business is mostly there to take your cash. The owner does the recruiting, and his combination of experience, network and expertise gets people to sign up. Once you are in, you are handed off to a second-rate presenter who often wastes your time, with no apologies from the company. If you are bored in your high-paying job and want to explore other opportunities, this might be a good option for you- but this is not a service to go to if you are in need of a job, and even less so if you are watching your finances. read more
