St. Charles' Gem of a Gym…read more I recently moved to St. Charles from Springfield and was looking for a gym, preferably close to where I live. My son recommended Main Street gym at 334 N Main Street. I could not thank him enough. This place is great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great variety of quality intuitive equipment. I seldom have have to wait for something to become available which is not a big deal as I just workout on a routine further down my list. I also appreciate the clientele at this gym as they aren't the type who walk around with overly developed egos and attitudes. I am not a gym rat, just someone who loves the physical and mental health benefits or working out. If you aren't working out do yourself a big favor and give it a try. I bet you will find it addicting as I do as you begin experiencing better physical and mental health.

I think I've been here enough times to give this place a review…read more I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new gym. I know there's a lifetime nearby too but it's so ridiculously overpriced and I don't use all the amenities to validate going there (having been a previous member). I love that wild horse is just a 6 minute drive from the house. It's usually the hardest part of going to workout - getting there, but it's so easy and there's always a parking spot open close to the door (since weather is in single digits!!) I'd say I go during odd hours since I have a hybrid work schedule. 11:30-2pm have 12+ people but it's never too crowded that I have to wait for a machine to be free (excluding today where everyone collectively decided to workout arms like me!) and 4-6p is when it gets a little busier, I bet due to people getting off work and wanting to get their workout in. Machines are clean as well as locker rooms. Towels are always available once you walk down to the floor or hit up the locker room to put your stuff away. There are cubbies where you can quickly stash your belongings as well. There are also jacket hooks in the locker room for colder seasons. The staff are all nice and friendly! The members are too! There's a wide array of machines for every muscle or variations of ones you've probably seen at other gyms. A ton of life fitness machines, free weights, cables, treadmills, ellipticals, stair masters, you name it, they've got it! Couples membership is around $130/month plus $100~ sign up fee Worth it to stay or get in the best shape of your life!

This is a very unique planet fitness, and we have been to so many of them across the country…read more What's different here is they seem to have way more space and equipment than other locations, so much so that they've added an additional heavier, weight specific area, which is what I was able to post a photo of since nobody was back there. They also have more unique machines that we do not see standard in other clubs, for example, different calf raises machines, there were at least four. It is a little difficult to navigate if you are used to the normal planet fitness layouts, where they have everything for legs in one area, everything for arms in another area and you might have two identical machine sitting side-by-side. This is laid out a little bit differently, so took us a bit of walking around to figure out what was where and what we needed to do today. They do have a decent amount of floor space, but it is a bit awkward for anyone who needed to do a full mat routine. We did have to sign in since we were from out of state, this is the first time we've been asked to do that, no problem just FYI. They have a nice black card area and we were able to use the Hydro massagers, everything seemed to be working appropriately. One thing I really did like about this place as well as that there are not any TVs With stations playing. The TVs are playing either exercise videos or the PF channel. It was a welcome, relief, not to have all the news blasting in your face for once. If you chose to watch TV, you could do so from your cardio machine. I like this layout. The staff were friendly and we saw at least two or three people, cleaning windows and equipment and such, the place seems to be well run.

My chiropractor suggested I get a personal trainer to make sure I do the exercises correctly. He has made sure of that and has kept me mobile and not needing a walker. He has gotten my muscle up to 42% of my body weight and even helped me through knee replacement surgery. I wouldn't be in this great of shape if it hadn't been for my trainer and Freedom fitness. All of this was achieved by only going twice a week for an hour.
