There is a friggin' zombie head on the bar for tips! A zombie head! This bar is awesome, it's like Halloween 365 days a year but in a good, funny alternative way rather than a scary goth "I'm going to kill you" way. Firstly they have a great set up with the decor, vampire chic crossed with Emo teen bedroom, crossed with Planet Rock's meeting room...and secondly they have a huge select of beers, even some that I like the taste of. I'm not a beer fan and even the smell makes my stomach turn, but here you can get a apple beer that only leaves the slight lingering air of hopps in your mouth. Why have I given this place so many stars, it good value for money, friendly staff and a great place to go for a night out with friends. Ps. Aiee me mateys! Let's hit the after pArrrrrrrty! Ok, so maybe this isn't a pirate themed bar per say, but I was definitely digging the whole "Halloween should be year round" vibe they had going on. I mean, their tip jar was a decapitated glowing skull. Seriously. It made my little North West heart ever so happy to see bottles of Rogue behind the bar, and as it turns out they have a might fine booty of imported beers from abroad. (Note: "booty" from "a-broad" puns both implicitly intended.) I will also vouch for the apple beer which went down a bit too easily for this fair maiden. Would I make a trip to Clapham Junction just for this? Probably not. But if I was pillaging and plundering in the area (as I'm known to do,) this sunken treasure would be on my "must visit" list. read more

Project Orange is a cool little bar in Clapham Junction. I really don't know how to classify this place, but I could see it as easily being a lot of people's local as well as a good place to stop in for one or two. It wasn't too busy for a Thursday night and we were able to accommodate our fairly good sized group. I was thoroughly impressed with their beer selection, both on draft and bottled. The shear fact that they had two beers from Rogue Brewery in Oregon was quite a shock. However, the real joy for me was Sierra Nevada Summerfest on draft. Being that Sierra is one of my favourite breweries, I could not resist! All in all, this is a pretty cool place. Good to come to with friends, pretty solid music selection playing, and great brews available! read more

The first bar I've been to in London that I absolutely LOVE. On a Wednesday night, and I was still won over! That has to say something... They had such great music playing... The Clash, The Who, Arcade Fire, Dandy Warhols, Siouxsie... all within the same half hour. Drink selection is muy eclectic. Don't expect the same old stuff here. I was particularly mesmerised by their huge blackboard wall where they list all the bands that have played there, as well as their beer and cocktail offerings. I've never heard of The Shits, or Dead Men Don't Ride Rollercoasters, but they sound FANTASTIC! I'll definitely be back. To SD Yelpers (or ex-SD Yelpers), I'd say this place is a nice combo of The Office (formerly Scolari's) and The Casbah. read more

This unassuming little bar is a very cool place. It dark sultry atmosphere lends to a sexy vibe, and the line-up of beers behind the counter are diverse and extensive. My American pals were amazed at some of the imported ales from the US which are difficult to come by in there own country. I had an apple beer that would not knock my socks off at 3.8% but packed one hell of a punch when it came to flavour. If you head downstairs you'll find a cosy area with seating and a foosball table. All in all this bar with the rock and roll feel is a great home from home if you want a few drinks before heading home to bed. read more

I was a little sceptical about the name of this place, recommended by a good friend who lives locally, not least because I'd recently had a nasty phone call with my service provider with similar nomenclature. I wasn't sure whether to expect a mass of Dutch darts players or what... How wrong one can be. I loved it from the moment I stepped in the door to the sound of, 'Every day should be a holiday' by The Dandy Warhols. I didn't even know what it was at the time, it just sounded cool. There are quirks to it, like the wall with the list of all the bands to have played there, and the labels on all of the beer taps stating how much of your money you are paying in tax. On top of that, they offer some tantilising and different bottled beers with goblins and such on the labels, and their dark rum and ginger ale aint half bad either. It's in a good location, barely five minutes walk from the junction, and it's busy as to show its popularity but by no means full to the point of not being able to sit down. Which is important when you're lazy like me. Have a look, listen to the great music, or even go on a gig night and see some less well-known artists strutting their funky stuff. read more

Amazing place! Right by the station so easy to get to, more spacious than most rock bars with plenty of tables and a lounge downstairs with a pool table and similar things. Upstairs a projector screens videos of rock concerts. Great atmosphere, great decor and drink prices don't break the bank either. Finally somewhere like this south of the river! A friend brought me here a year ago and it's such a breath of fresh air from the chain of typical pubs. The beers are quirky and tempting for someone who's not a huge beer drinker, there's the usual spirits too. The music selection is great with various forms of rock and projected concerts of bands onto a wall should your eyes wander. Being right next to Clapham Junction station makes it an ideal stopping point for many and it does get mega busy! read more

The prices seemed fair for what I remember of the cost.. which is nothing, other than the fact I was able to afford a drink with change. The fact that it was also my drink of choice - extra dry martini, a rarity in many places - is even better! That style, design and staff of this venue seem right down my alley. It's not how it'd look if I owned it, but it's definitely within my approval zone. Thankfully, only a train and short walk away from me, I may find the chance to return and review this better - IE whilst sober enough to actually make note of all the little quirks - but for now, this sits very highly. read more

Project Orange was our favourite local for a while. It's one of the only places around Clapham Junction where you can escape the Ben Sherman shirt wearers and peroxide blond office girls. The one factor that won us over here was the fact they were playing Fugazi's "Instrument" on the projector screen. A pub that shows Fugazi?? Great! The music here is a mixture of 90s Britpop (OK...) to late 80s / early 90s grunge a la Soundgarden (nice...). I may be alone here, but I love that they serve Belgium Frullis (fruit beer), my favourite being the apple or the passion fruit flavoured beer. The bands that play Project Orange are a little more bland though. I'd say the live music is the last thing I would come for and thankfully the actual *venue* part of the pub is downstairs, tucked away from the main bar. The bands that play are a mixture of generic pub rock to boring punk. It feels as though Project Orange should be a pub that finds it's home somewhere like Camden but thankfully it shows that Clapham Junction can rock it with the rest of them! read more

This is a great little bar/pub with some awesome Rock tunes blaring out and a fine selection of beers on tap. I think this is the first place outside of the States that I have seen Blue Moon served and that makes it is worth venturing in to again. The atmosphere is nice with video's being projectedonto the wall and some funky modern arrt work adorning the walls. The staff are awesome, they were very friendly, chatty and laid back plus they looked like they wanted to be there which just sets the mood on a high. Prices are also very good as I didn't have to sell my mother to get more than two pints, always a plus anywhere in (or around) London these days. read more

This bar made me happy. I came here after hibernating for three days when I lost a job I really wanted. This was my first outing and I was dragged to meet a group of friends I hadn't seen in a while. Project Orange is the perfect antidote to a bad mood. It's cramped and we were lucky to get a table but you don't have to wait long to get to the bar and it's not too expensive in here. At the end of the night, I remember dancing very badly to awful rock music. There was some awful air guitar that I should perhaps be more ashamed of. I'm not, it was too much fun. They have bands downstairs here too. I don't know if they're any good, but you should come and hang out anyway. Maybe after you've had a bad day at work. Or later on to get rid of the Monday blues. read more

Great little bar at the top of St John's Hill no more than 50 metres from Clapham Junction Station. Specialising in stocking plenty of odd little bottled beers from around the World (including beer/tequila mix Desperados which always results in me thinking I can dance better than John Travolta). The staff are friendly and despite it sometimes feeling a little cramped I have never had a bad night out here. There is also a downstairs area with it's own bar that sometimes is used for band nights but is also a good venue for a private function. read more

I love this place! I've never not been able to get a chair unlike the other reviewers. I've always found it to be quiet. The music and decor is rock, the beer selection is good (I thought so anyway as I like fruit beers) and the staff are pretty cool and silly (they put real turf on the floor during the world cup). They have a basement with a fussball table and if you call in advance you can hire the basement for (I think) free. I wouldn't change anything about it. Go once and you'll go again. read more

Let me preempt this review by mentioning that my opinion may be hindered by my raging intoxication on the night in question. Wet your whistle with the medicinal values of Jagermeister followed by 'an-apple-a-day' apple beer. Follow by rubbing shoulders with the likes of 'The Band' (rockin' Rayguns) and visually dismantling the decor with Chris O. We like the camouflage, mesh-covered windows. The music was pretty cool, the atmosphere was spot on and the company was fabulous. Seems like a great place to end the night in South London. read more

In a sea of faceless chain bars, Project Orange is a beacon of independence. Even if it didn't have an astounding selection of incredible beers, it would be a must-visit destination because of its thrash metal decor, impeccable music, and the best collection of music DVDs projected onto the wall at all times. i still like this bar, but i just wanted to update to say that the door staff are pretty rubbish. some guy tried to steal my phone on saturday night whilst i was in here with a group of friends...i told them as he was leaving the bar, they looked at me like i had ten heads, and i was the one that had to run after the guy and give him my best scottish abuse in order to get my phone back (the sneaky shit bag!!!!!!) - i'd like to think that the door men would be more vigilant against guys like these...i mean, he was very obviously in the phone stealing market. saying that, the bar staff were really great and put up well with mine and my friends constant requests for "MORE MUSIC WE CAN SING TO!!!!!!" read more

This bar has a crazy selection of beer and an even broader selection of clientele. Anything goes and the staff are fun and friendly. It really makes a welcome break from the generic bars in the area playing boring pop music. The only downside is that the local noise laws mean that they can't really crank up the music upstairs but that doesn't stop anyone from dancing. read more

Outstanding little bar if you like your guitars rocky and your beers excellent. The bar staff are great to chat to and they really care about the place. Perhaps one too many skulls on the wall to make it a place to treat the parents to a quiet sherry, but for just about any other gathering it makes for a fun and unique place to drink. And it's super convenient for Clapham Junction too. read more

Great little alternative place to hang out and have a few beers. They have a pretty diverse and unique beer collection -- Try the Icelandic Einstok beer with coriander and orange. The music is good and the decor is awesome. The bar staff are all really friendly. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for :) read more
