Great wee jazz bar. Worth going just for the sumptuous art deco including mirrored rose ceiling. Ask to be seated under that ceiling. If you are a group of more than 4 just book onto 2 tables....under that ceiling, ok. Late night jazz can cost as little as £10. A select traditional menu of cocktail will bring the ticket price up to £20+ per head. I wasn't blown away by mine. Really enjoyed Jay Rayner's anecdotes (Yes Clare Raynor, Agony Aunt's son) he's a food expert, piano playing sex columnist and it's such an intimate space, he came on up and said hello to us, a jovial chap. The ice water is a lot warmer than the staff there.
It's in the former Atlantic Bar venue, but Crazy Coqs and Zedels Brasserie have definitely had a make over. Not sure if we got to the American Bar there, that's supposed to be good. The street cafe part, does feel like I'm in the one in St Germain when back in Paris.
Not eaten at Zedels but it can be as cheap as £8.50 for 2 course steak and frites. However if you want to eat there in a large group before a concert at the Crazy Coqs book it way in advance before your jazz tickets
Sod the staff. Look forward to my next visit under that mirrored ceiling.
Bon appetite! read more
