This is a tiny venue on Soho which is a wonderful little hideaway and a place that you must visit if you're into your music. They have all types of music here - I once played a set and from the perspective of the performer it was brilliant. As it is so small, there is a great intimate vibe and it tends to be more sociable than the larger bars and music venues. The audience were a great crowd and having been a few times since, this first experience wasn't just a one-off good night. You can also eat here and they offer a set menu for an extremely reasonable price - around £11 for 3 courses. The food is also quite fancy for the price - grilled salmon and Cajun chicken for example. I always have a memorable night here and it is definitely a true hidden gem. If you like the music, you can get up and dance and the chances are the people on the next table who you've never met will join you! There have also been some huge names play here so you never know who you may end up spotting on stage!

In the centre of crazy manic Soho, on Greek Street hides this fantastic minuscule Jazz Bar! Ten of us went for a birthday party recently. It was perfect because we all love to have fun! The venue is very small and narrow and the stage is the same level as the floor therefore you really feel like a part of the band. We had the whole area in front of the band, due to the size of our group. It was £10 a person to get in if eating and £15 if not. The three course set menu meal was £10.95. It was delicious, maybe portion sizes were a little small for the men but they were not too concerned. The band started after our meal which was perfect timing. They were incredible! The sounds and upbeat vibes got us all up dancing, clicking our fingers - it was great. The band spoke to us, one of them quite fancying my Mum, who is by nature an absolute flirt so very comical to watch especially for my Dad! A whole evening in one venue can sometimes sound quite boring. However the meal was a good time to catch up and chat with one another, then once the band came on and we were all dancing the night just flew. Some skipping while others stumbling out at 1am in the morning!

Good music, good service, good prices, good food, good cocktails, good beers, good location. Jazz after dark is pretty good JAD is a pretty small venue, and its layout is a bit of a problem - if you're sitting near the door you can't really see the musicians that well and the music gets a bit dampened. However, if you can get a seat near the stage then you're basically sitting right next to the musicians, who are generally of a good standard. The food is pretty nice - I can recommend the lamb koftas and the cheeseburger.

Our younger daughter who was studying in London for 6 months, insisted we stop by Jazz After Dark as part of our WestEnd experience. She (and the rest of the family) are all about everything Amy Winehouse. (As I write this, I learned the documentary Amy won an Oscar, rightfully so). We arrived for happy hour early on a weeknight, so it wasn't crowded. Our bartender/server was a delightful, helpful older British woman. We shared the Amy's Favourite Platter (southern fried chicken, chips, meatballs and wings) The fried chicken was pretty good, the rest just "ok". The girls had the Pink Pussy cocktail (Bacardi and Malibu rums mixed with strawberry and topped with cream) while I had a Jaegerbomb and a Desperadoes tequila-flavored beer. All around the tables are oil paintings, many of Amy, all done quite well. I thought you could almost feel her spirit. We noticed one of the oils had a gentleman posing with Amy that looked just like a guy at the bar. We approached him and learned he was the artist himself, Sam Shaker. Mr. Shaker was very cordial and regaled us Americans with stories of his relationship with Amy, her beginnings at the club, and her struggles. It was at times very emotional. This fortuitous meeting, along with the reasonable prices for the Soho area, give this place a 4+ rating. I wish I'd have had more time in London, so as to return and check out the live music.

Really nice little place. Food wasn't grate but was good. Mood was grate and so was the music. Air temperature was a bit worm and it was a bit stuffy. But will definitely go again.

Jazz after Dark is a very (very) small venue in Soho, one of those hidden little gems that reeks of pure jazz and soul, without the big name rip offs, its just a small jazz club that loves its music. It's so small the band are almost sitting on your knee, its cosy and it's cool. If there weren't a smoking ban, this place would be the typical smoky jazz club. Singers such as Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty as well as jazz and blues legends will often drop by for off the cuff sets. The photos on the walls of previous patrons is like a who's who of music. The last time I went there I took my mother and we dines there. Let's just say the food isn't what you come here for, although its edible and fairly good value for money. The band that were due to play didn't turn up, although they assured us this had never happened before, and another band were then called in at late notice. Unfortunately, when they eventually did play they couldn't play for long as we were informed that Pete Doherty was playing a secret gig there that night. After a bit of resistance they let all the diners stay as we had missed our band, unfortunately as the room began to fill with Doherty fans my mother (who I was with) felt queasy and wanted to go home. Still, the place had the buzz and the air of something thrilling, reminding you of what it must have been like in the sixties with a whole new era of bands playing there. So you could look at my night and say, well it wasn't very good - the band didn't turn up, the food wasn't great, then you had to leave just as a secret gig was about to start, but you know what? I still love this place, it has an air of rock n roll and you never know how your night there will end. I would still recommend this place to any fan of music to experience what a real jazz club should be like.

Live music on the intimate back stage, also showing fun interior decorations.

The restaurant called me and I returned their call to let them know I was still on my way. I felt like a total jerk for arriving so late, but the staff was incredibly welcoming. I decided to go solo for high tea, wanting to treat myself. They found me the perfect table where I could people-watch and enjoy the piano music from a comfortable distance. This high tea room is absolutely stunning and was made to be photographed. My waiter was incredibly patient and didn't judge me when I was taking pictures. In fact, he said that's what this room is meant for. There were a wide variety of teas, and I think the teas were the best part of the experience. The pastries were also delicious, but I didn't love any of the finger sandwiches. I'll definitely be back soon. Thanks for being so gracious despite my tardiness!

Combining…read moreimmersive theatre with jazz cabaret dance, the company specializes in breaking the fourth wall between the performers and their audience, challenging them to observe private acts that are usually left behind closed doors. By immersing the performance in and amongst the audience, characters entice those around them to follow their story, encouraging the audience to choose their own adventure. UnCorked is defined by a cast of authentically powerful entertainers. Together they are dedicated to creating captivating productions. They are consistently pushing the social and creative boundaries of jazz and live theatre, leaving their audience feeling nothing short of alive. I went along to their production "How to Solve a Problem Like Murder" which was held in the pub Paradise By Way Of Kensal Green. The event was being held upstairs of the establishment. Me and my friend was handed a envelope with a mask to wear, pen, suspect page and note page. We was the both led up the stairs by a boy and girl (well two adults pretending to be children) and then we entered a room where there was some performing half naked sexy dancing ladies who were part of the whole act / story. I cant say much about the story as don't want to give anything away but basically there is affairs going on between the whole group of woman and the men so many arguments happen but the best part was that the dancing that the ladies and men do throughout the show there was about 6 different dances throughout the night. The boy and girl guides you to important pieces of info throughout the night and also whilst going around listening and watching the acting taking place you have to be quite which is good as does not spoil what is going on and can take in more what is going on. Also the difference with this murder mystery is that you had to solve who was going to be murdered and who was the killer so unique in that respect. I got the killer right and my friend got who would be murdered correctly. However even though we got them right we did not get a prize just a slip of paper with a saying on it so that was a tad disappointing and also we could not even keep the masks which i think is quite unhygienic to give back for them to reuse again and its not even like the masks were expensive they were cheap. However well worth the money as the acting by all was superb and a great plot the best murder mystery I have ever done and so different. So don't miss out and book your murder mystery with Uncorked productions today. Tickets have already sold out for most dates so get booking fast.
