Most of the seats are reserved towards the middle and back - so I assume this is possible when purchasing in advance online. As for the show itself, the comedians are knowledgeable and topical. The theme is "The Cutting Edge" for Tuesdays, which is mostly focused on current evens and political news. A tip for the show, they make fun of the first row a lot; best to keep that in mind when choosing seats. Great show and would come to visit again.

The bar staff is great and the drinks are seriously cheap. The place is exactly as you expect and hope for a comedy club. A great vibe, a great sound system, a great lighting system and a great crowd. The cost to get in is minimal, but if you enjoy the show, they will ask you to donate what you think it is worth. And, seriously, if you don;t donate way more than the cost of your $1 ticket, then you just suck. The show is worth way more than the cost, by a long shot. Pony up $20 you cheap bastard! A monthly event in TW which has just moved from above the Grey Lady in the Pantiles to Chapel Place…read morenearby. I can only assume it's because they need a larger venue. It's always busy and deservedly so. The fellas that run it seem to know everybody & make it their business to say hello to all & sundry. The normal MC is a local guy called Stephen Upsall who's quite a card & they have some excellent guests for a reasonable fee. Lucy Porter & Robin Ince were particularly good last year. Nobly, they squeeze in a newcomer between the more experienced first and last acts. Noble but sphincter-puckeringly risky at times. This is often the crucial time of the evening & there is always a thrill in watching somebody take that big leap. Some have done excellently and others shockingly. Few situations can summon up the awkwardness of being in a dying comedians audience. It is supported by a happy local crowd. The local Toni & Guy are one of the sponsors and they always send down a group of lunatics. Beyond this there is another sponsor called 'Moog Royale': I think they sell synthesiser burgers.

I've visited the Therapy Room Comedy Club on numerous occassions and have to say it is one of the…read morebest nights out that Tunbridge Wells has to offer. Ok, that might not be saying a lot but the Therapy Room offers a quirky, less formal alternative to comedy at Trinity or The Assembly Hall. Much improved since it's move to a superior venue (less chance of being asphyxiated by Grey Lady fajita fumes), the comedians are invariably excellent, ably supported by a compere full of cracking local gags. A great night's entertainment at a good price.

The week I went down apart from excellent performances from comedians on the circuit there were guys from BBC1. Andy Parson was trying out material for his tour and Lee Mack for his too. We went on a Sunday and got in around 7:20 and got a little stamp on our hand and they started letting people in at 7:45 pm. The room was smaller than expected and could fit about 40 max, so if you have a large party, get there early!!! Also, the comedy is going to be a hit or miss since it's just people trying out new jokes. Be prepared to laugh your butt off but also be prepared to sit there in awkward silence... grab a pint downstairs and that will help through that!!

The stage is set up in an upstairs room that got stuffy really quickly with all the bodies in there! We chuckled throughout the evening and even though everyone has different views on what's funny, there was defiantly something for everyone. I personally wants a fan of the toilet humour, but to each his own, others seemed to find it hilarious! The acts stared at 8pm and we were treated to 10 acts with a 10 minute interval In the middle. The only downfall of the evening was when we all piled out to replenish our beverages in the bar down stairs, we almost missed the start of the second half because there were only 3 members of staff to serve the 100 of us that flooded downstairs! Plus the punters that were just there in the pub. Bad planning!

I was really impressed with how good they were! There were two breaks in the middle of the performances where people could chat in the bar area and get some drinks or food. We got ciders, beer and nachos there (nachos took a while to prepare so watch out for that!). The MC who announced all the performances was funny as well! We stayed until the very end and the bar closing.

The audience is the judge and pick up the winner, who then is invited following week to show a little bit more. The level of funniness between the performers may differ vastly, but then on some other nights all of them are pretty good, so you never know, what you gonna get. The problem is you have to come at least 1 hour before the show starts and you have to buy at least 3 drinks per head. Recently they've changed the policy and when you book table, you have to give them the exact number of your guest. They will charge you £5 for anyone that doesn't turn up. They serve the typical pub food, chips and burgers and the choice isn't great, but the portions are decent. I have to agree with BlackDahlia, the nachos portions are gigantic and verrry cheesy:P I've encountered a problem with their tap beer though. I had to change my pints (on 2 occasion, 2 different beers) as they tasted awfully, as if they were weren't very fresh or something. If I can give you a tip: don't sit by the tables nearest to the stage as you'd be picked on and every single comedian will be making fun of you throughout the night:)

It's a little confusing because you find Comedy Cafe but you enter through the bedroom bar. If you're planning to eat, get there a little early and order at the ground floor bar. You can bring the food up but will need to pick it up downstairs. The spicy chicken sandwich was actually pretty good. No wonder it's so difficult to book in for a spot here - the place is really nice! Now I've done a handful of gigs around London in basements and 1st floors of pubs and this has the nicest and spacious space. The acts are varied but usually ends with a good penultimate and heading lining act which should be more experienced testing out new material. Can't complain too much because the show is free! But I highly recommend booking on the website in advanced because it does sell out.
