Reading some of the reviews was a surprise- my experience was not perfect, but I got everything that I needed from my program. Mindset matters- I greatly appreciated Katilyn, Tam, Bianca, Dr. Suhad, and the admin team.

The program is accredited, which is great. Dr. Suhad is an amazing professor. She is down to earth and just brilliant. I couldn't imagine learning about sonography from anyone else. Melissa, my clinical coordinator, is very encouraging and I appreciate all of her help during my clinicals. I want to be 100% transparent about my time here at SUI so I will also speak about some things that can be improved on. I believe that better communication and full transparency will take this program to the next level. I think that the amazing staff, like Dr. Suhad and Melissa, are taking on a lot of responsibility and if their burden was shared with possibly more staff, the program would be so much more amazing. There are a few other kinks not worth mentioning but I know that SUI is already done some steps to make the next cohort's experience better than what mine was so I know they are very well capable of greatness. I say simple because they all have the ability to break down any kind of math equation. I spent half of my general Ed (K-12) in Special Ed. I have never been great with math. I am now able to learn extremely complex math. I have to respectfully disagree with the other woman's review. To be clear the field of Drug and Alcohol Counseling is one of the lowest earning careers. You don't make anything above $35,000.00 a year. Most jobs are very low pay regardless of the field. Making $12.00/hr is the norm. It's pretty bad and unfortunate, that a severe lack of income is hugely ignored in society. The staff at the Rancho Cordova campus are very helpful and honest. They are always there to help you. If you're not ready to start working in your chosen field, they help you find a job anyways. Until you feel ready to learn your trade in the field, they patiently wait. When you give them the green light they help you with a smile. The campus president O.C. is a wonderful lady and a great listener. She makes all of the students feel welcome and takes the time to know all of us.

She worked tirelessly helping me obtain my transcripts from my online high school. It wasn't a simple process and required her to jump through multiple hoops and go back and forth numerous times. Because of her persistence and dedication, I was able to begin the process of enrolling. Without her help and determination, I honestly may not have been able to start school when I did. I would also like to recognize Mr. Ricardo, who handled my student intake. His energy and enthusiasm were incredible from the moment I met him. He worked extremely hard to get everything processed and even managed to get me started that very same week. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of, and his excitement made me feel confident and motivated about starting the program. My instructor, Miss B, deserves more recognition than I could ever put into words. She wasn't just a teacher to me, she truly became a mentor and friend. She didn't just teach what was in the textbook, she taught real-life skills and how to truly succeed in the medical field. She was patient, supportive, and always available whenever I needed help or didn't understand something. She believed in her students and pushed us to be our best. Without a doubt, she is the best teacher I have ever had the privilege of learning from. I would also like to recognize Nate, who always seemed to be juggling a million things but still made time to help students whenever they needed it. His willingness to step in and assist never went unnoticed. Most importantly, I want to give a huge recognition to Carlos. Carlos is the person you can go to for absolutely anything, and he will always find a way to help. He is incredibly knowledgeable, highly educated in the medical field, and extremely compassionate. What makes him stand out the most is how much he genuinely cares about the students in the Medical Assistant program and their future success. Carlos truly listens to students and values their thoughts, concerns, and goals. He is also the person who encouraged me to take the CCBMA certification exam, something I never believed I could pass. I honestly had no intention of even attempting it because I didn't think it was possible for me. Carlos believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. Because of his encouragement and support, I took the exam and I am now CCBMA certified. The fact that he is even helping me revise my resume on a Sunday shows the level of dedication he has to his students. Every single employee at UEI College has been incredible. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and full of people who genuinely want to see students succeed. They treat you like more than just a number, they treat you like family. UEI College didn't just give me an education, it gave me confidence, support, and a future in the medical field. The experience and the people I met there truly changed my life. I tried 3 separate times to log onto her orientation requirement and couldn't get on. If you ask her for help, she's very condescending and just blames the entire issue on you. If you ask to come to the school to get info in person, she tells you if you come to the school, you won't get help. You'll be turned away. You can't ask her a question over the phone about school. She just redirects you back to the website. Now imagine you're in school here, $40k under in loans and you have a question about anything educational related and being told to go look at the website or they can't help you. It's pretty obvious they're severely understaffed and overwhelmed. I would not come here. You'll feel like you just threw away $40k and Isabella will be laughing at you.

Today im 4 months in on a 6 month course. We have done so much safety and precautions in order to make sure all students are safe. We have wired so many labs. The length was over 2 1/2 years. I started January 2020 and finished August 2022. I would have appreciated the transparency upfront during the admissions process. Some students were there longer than me. I'd recommend clarifying this during the admissions process if you plan on attending this school. The instructors were overall great. Some would go out of their way to schedule one on one tutoring sessions if a student needed it. I really felt that I had support if I needed it. The legal instructors were very knowledgeable in the field and taught skills and tasks that are used in the legal field. I had the pleasure of attending while Linda Gardenhire was Department Chair and then Eric Fernandez when she retired. They were both amazing and supportive throughout my whole program. They were very personable and I felt like they genuinely really cared about the success of their students. I happened to have Eric as an instructor for Contract Law and Advanced Legal Research and Writing. These classes were definitely a challenge for me, I made sure to meet with Eric early on and communicate this to him. He did a great job clarifying and helping me through the challenging assignments. He really pushed me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to be better. The class material mirrors what paralegals do in the field and will help prepare anyone looking to succeed in the legal field.

Treat it like your own experience because it is basically a way to learn and practice to apply for licensure/certification. I was in a phlebotomy technician course, and I liked it because we practiced blood draws (including capillary puncture [finger stick] and venipuncture) so many times on so many different vein arrangements and on both the antecubital area (inside of elbow) and dorsal hand (opposite side of the hand's palm side - "veiny" part). I feel like when I came in a lot of people did not have background on health care (e.g., anatomy and physiology, terminology, etc.). I was so happy that I took classes at CRC and SCC (Los Rios) before coming here. After the phlebotomy technician course, I ended up getting my license in phlebotomy and continued to do courses here (medical assisting). It's nice because with the cost of tuition for medical assisting (MA) we get textbooks/supplies (a big textbook, a workbook, a medical terminology book, 1 set of scrubs, and a stethoscope). It's nice to work with all different backgrounds and ages. I would say it is getting better, and I do like the job workshops held by the staff (Lindsay Cosgaya, Jim Wirick, and Mr. Dan Davis). A lot of people should read the license (Certified Phlebotomy Technician I) / certification (for MA it's a certification not a license) requirements and try to get some basic anatomy down! You gotta do lots of work on your own even before. Also: phlebotomy (blood draw) makes people feel weak - make sure you have lots of time to eat and drink and rest because it's a quick course but you have to practice a lot (get 50 successful draws).
