Before selecting a PMP training course, it is wise to search what will fit your training needs, and the Project Management Academy did just that for me. I vetted their program very aggressively, and I was very pleased with the granularity and details of the boot camp. I searched several online courses, versus in class onsite training, and the Project Management Academy lead the pack with an onsite boot camp, that allowed the students to have a live instructor to interact with, and that was a must for me. Also the onsite class connected local PMP aspirants, so we could form study groups if needed, which can help as well. One thing that I would like to point out, is the in class training material. It included the PMBOK Guide 5th edition, and several laminated handouts, that explained the detailed information that you will need to know for the exam, without studying for long hours (A PMP Strategy guide) and that was very helpful for me. Gregg Richie PMP was the instructor, and a great one at that. He has the experience as a seasoned project manager, and as a PMP instructor, so he understood the journey that we were undertaking as students. After the boot camp, I sat for the exam three weeks later, and passed on the first try (05/13/2015). I have no doubt that the Project Management Academy's boot camp would serve you as a valuable asset in preparation for the PMP exam, but you must be willing to put in the work, as outlined in the boot camp. I was skeptical of a week-long class being able to prepare me for a certification exam, but I took a chance and took the class. From the initial contacts via email through the follow-ups after the class completed, the Project Management Academy and our instructor, Gregg Richie, were absolutely top notch. The class... Gregg took us through a mountain of information quickly and in a way that made sense. He was the perfect mix of funny and knowledgeable. I am still in awe of how intimately he knew the information he was presenting. I attended the PMA in-person (Las Vegas) class in June 2019, with John Dokos. He is a great instructor who is really able to break down the material and explain the concepts using real life experience examples, but without getting lost in all the details either. The test content can be overwhelming and John does a great job at providing just the right level of information. Following the class, John continued to make himself available to answer any questions via email, and also during the weekly webinars (for which he is quite often the instructor). Overall, I loved the class and all the tools that PMA has at students' disposal. Again, the webinar, as well as content videos, mock exams, sample exercises, printed materials (and the list goes on...): all the resources offered to the students are great and make it much worth the investment. I use to say that yes, I ultimately passed the PMP exam, but that the experience of studying using the PMA tools, with John's assistance, is a REAL LEARNING experience, just as or even more valuable than the certification itself. read more

My boot camp for the PMP exam was virtual in July 2022. I was uncertain of the effectiveness that it would have for me as I do best in a live learning situation. John Dokos. was my instructor and the tips and advice he offered were excellent. I was unable to take the exam right away and then let it slip away a bit until April 2023. I planned to study through all of the notes and material a week before the exam, but again was overcome with external events and work, that I resolved to just take it cold regardless of the outcome. Sitting for the exam however, I could hear John's voice in my head recalling all of his tips and how they might trip us up in the questions, I passed fairly easily. I finished well ahead of time with little or no review needed and achieved above target in all 3 areas. I attribute all of this to John's boot camp and his testing advice. Unlike other online courses I've taken, the live instruction from Mike Strachan made for a great experience and included real time questions, and, when needed, it included personal time with the instructor to answer longer questions. I took the PMP boot camp with Joe Drammissi in Las Vegas on April 3-6, 2017. The class was outstanding. The material was well structured and organized in a way that was easier to understand than the PMBOK. Joe was very thorough, professional and very patient when someone didn't understand the material. After taking the boot camp, I felt confident that I knew what I needed to study for the exam. After a few weeks of additional study, I passed on the first try. There is no way I would have passed without Joe and PMA. Not only was the course helpful, but the online material was a great aid: review lectures on difficult topics, games, flash cards, practice tests and more. I had a done a lot of research on PMP boot-camp courses and was completely satisfied with all the Project Management Academy course had to offer. I was at the Las Vegas course Nov.14-17 2016 at the World Market Center. Our instructor was Joe Drammissi and he was very thorough, detailed, organized and informative. He was able to break down the PMBOK information into real world examples, all while letting you know what info you need to key on for the exam. After the course the online material and resources provided by the PMA portal were very helpful to continue to study and their practice questions were the easiest way to identify the knowledge areas were I needed to improve. I attended the September 2019 class with instructor John Dokos. I have been a Project Manager for a while and have read earlier versions of the PMBOK (4th edition). Hadn't planned on taking a boot camp class before sitting for the exam, but decided it wouldn't hurt when my employer offered to pay for it. All I can say is WOW! John's knowledge and experience really opened my eyes to what I was supposed to be focusing on. With their pre-class assessment exam on the website, I got a 54%. The final exam on the last day I got a 75%. I took the exam and passed 1 week later. I took the April 2017 NVDOE PMP bootcamp with Mr. John Dokos as the instructor and couldn't have been happier with the course (as those 5 stars would indicate). I wasn't sure what to expect going in except that i'd be "drinking from the fire hose" so to speak. I took the virtual Project Management Professional bootcamp in August 2019 with instructor Robert Laszlo and it was exactly what I needed! There is so much information but PMA gave us some great materials. Robert was especially helpful in differentiating a lot of minute details of the PMBOK.
