First of all, no school out there is perfect. In addition, I think when selecting a school for your…read morechild, you need to have a good barometer of what kind of student they are and what kind of environment they will do well in. Academics - I found Coral Academy to be a good fit for my youngest daughter. They offer advanced science and math courses which are so vital in today's workforce. In addition, I find that many of the students at Coral truly like studying science and math ~ whereas elsewhere some students love to hate math and science. Having a daughter, it was important to me that she be encouraged in STEM courses and I find that the environment here is conducive to that. They offer many academic related clubs in addition to the advanced courses too. I appreciated the fact that they have their students take the PSAT as 8th graders. It gives you their scores early so that you may fill in any gaps prior to taking the real SAT as a junior. Location - Coral Sandy Ridge is in a nice Henderson neighborhood directly across from a park. Size - Coral Academy Sandy Ridge is much smaller than the local public schools, but not so small that the kids don't have a good selection of peers to socialize with. I was happy with the size of the overall school and individual classes. Sports - Some people complain at the lack of athletic activities at Coral. I agree that Coral doesn't have the current State Championship baseball or wrestling team -- or even many athletic teams at all. However, I found that to be the beauty of Coral. Academics is truly the focus here ~ which is what school is actually for! You can play sports on travel teams throughout the valley - so I don't see that as being an issue. However, some students may be a better fit at a school with more athletics. I think as a parent, you just need to know your child and find the best environment for them socially, academically and athletically. In a nutshell - I would recommend this school if your child has an aptitude in STEM courses, doesn't really care about sports and you want them academically challenged. However, if your child truly loves athletics and participating in school sports ~ then I believe there are better options for your child. Hope that helps! :)

Parents are lied to…read moreby the school claiming it is the "best" in Nevada when you could probably send your kid to public school, and they'll get the same education. The principal contributes to absolutely nothing and they'll cut funds to clubs and sports when it's most important. The 8th grade girl's basketball coach was recently fired out of the blue even after being on a win streak for 5 years!! This school rarely shows that they care about their students. The uniform policy is highly reinforced for no particular reason, making parents deliver students' uniforms when they are caught not following the dress code. Overall, if you want safer school to put your child in...sure, Coral might be fit for you. But I do not recommend this place as a first choice.

One of those being that the management team is not very organized and there is not a whole lot of communication between parents and teachers. On second thought maybe there is some type of communication but it just seems like the parents are always the last to know. Also, my wife likes the fact that public schools have a library but of course the charter schools do not. Although we take our daughter to the public library instead I'm just saying that it would be nice for my daughter to be able to go to check out books herself at the school library. I guess it's just something we have to live with cause we don't want her going to the public schools around here. Just too much overcrowding and it will get worse before it gets better.

"For to be free is not merely to cast off ones chains, but to live in a way that respects and…read moreenhances the freedoms of others." Nelson Mandela Join me as we celebrate a day, a day that honors those that have served our nation both past, present, and future. November 11, a day set aside to honor all of those that have served this great nation. Originally, this day was marked as the day to end all wars. It became important in more recent times to show the veterans our appreciation for their heroism and patriotism. Thank you for all military personal for keeping us all safe and free! In the last two decades the United States has entered into this conflict, disagreement over what happening all over the globe. We seem to ride in on our steel birds to the rescue. It's the least we can do! Right. Personal freedom and experiences we have our ladies and gentlemen of all of the armed forces to thank. Not only in our great nation, but we have become the champions for those that get bullied or stepped over by some faction trying to take their rights away in far off lands all over the globe. When our soldiers have come home in the past and present it is organizations in the community that give them support. As a military wife for many years and daughter to a military family it's an unusual upbringing with lots of moving. You never know where you will be from one year to the next. After having the twins, and through some protest to my husband it was time for him to settle down and leave the military. I learned that you never leave the military, for the men that you fight along side become brothers in the real sense. After the death of my husband two years ago, who was there for the twins and I. The brothers that my beloved knew. Individuals I did not even know were comforting me in my time of loss. God bless each one of them. It seems these days that vets get a bad rap. They come home from seeing such atrocities all over the world; and it's hard to process these things. In America many seem to walk around with blinders on and don't realize it. That homeless man that seems broken, talking to himself after fighting for our nation is at his lowest. He's talking to himself and could even be violent. See the rage and hate for life from his point of view. Can you see the image? Boys just landing fresh out of boot camp, wanting to fight that fight for freedom. They grab that gun and go to armed car. Time to go get the bad guys. Some of our troops have taken lives more than once. Then they come home, no more guns now let's replace the gun with a cell phone. Time to start life again, many of the soldiers come back to families and children they have not even met. It's hard for them to cope. Families break up because of unlivable conditions and here comes the cycle. That homeless vet that we all have seen. Don't fear him or her? Let's do something about it. We need to help our own. Give vets a chance to live. After the loss of my husband, I did not want to continue on with life. Life was meaningless. During my college days, I wanted to do something to change life for the veteran. This organization and ones like it are the answers. There is not enough of them. We all have the be the voice for those that need our help. Let's bring about social change and justice for a simple and healthy way of life for those that have given their souls. Men have bled for this country and our freedoms; what do we do. Cast them aside . Change starts now. Let's remember our veterans this time of year and every other day of the year. God Bless!
