Tom is a con artist. He has the gift to gab but not a man of his word. We bought a Bentley from him that we were told was in pristine condition and mechanically solid. We bought the car and got it shipped and couldn't even gets tags for it without putting a few thousand dollars into it. It turns out the check engine light was on and they put a black piece of felt inside the panel to cover it up. He says you bought the car as is and it must have come in like this from the previous owner and we can't go back to him. He assured us enough though it was an as is purchase they would help and he won't even return our calls. Buyer beware of the entire company and especially Tom. I purchased my 2012 Jaguar XK with 64,900 miles from Progressive Motors on 1/2021 and traded in 2 cars for it, a 2008 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas that was in mint condition but just over 105,000 miles and a 2011 Jaguar XK with just under 72,000 miles on the clock. I know he made money on the resale of both those cars. I took excellent care of them. Before the purchase I asked if the car I was buying had been gone through mechanically. Were the brakes checked, etc. I was told it was and they check out all the safety items, tires, brakes, etc. Great! 3 months later and I needed brakes so I replaced them front and back. I only put 2,000 miles on the car! How is that possible??? I'm 70. I drive like it's Sunday every day. I took the car to a car wash, not an automatic car wash but a hand car wash 3 weeks after the purchase. After the wash I pulled the car to the drying area. The clear coat on the rear hatch and fenders was gone. I always took my other cars to the same wash and use my own soap, washing mit and drying chamois and have never ever had this problem. So I took the car to 3 high end detailers and all of them said the paint could not be restored. The clear coat was too far gone. Then I remembered that the sales person said that he needed to detail the car for a full day before I could take the car. I was told from my detailer that it's a trick that many used car dealerships use. Some may use WD-40 or shoe polish or something but the first time you wash the car, it comes off. New paint - $3,500 - $6,300 unless you get the cheap Maaco Paint job. I paid $3,500 2 months ago. A year later and the car needed a new water pump. I'm not blaming them for the water pump because they do go on Jaguar when the mileage gets up there. He couldn't or "wouldn't" tell me if the timing chain had been changed so i took a chance on that. So far, so good. Fingers crossed. Now I have another problem. I noticed all the bushings in the suspension front and rear need replacing. Suspension and steering are part of a "Safety Inspection" and it should have been taken care of prior to my purchase. I only put 7,000 miles on the car in 15 months of ownership. My mechanic said this didn't happen in 15 months of ownership or 7,000 miles. It was bad before I purchased the car. Now it'll cost me $$$$ to fix. I should sell the car but I love it. Now I have new brakes, a new water pump, new hoses, a new battery (I replaced the 5 year old one that he was kind enough not to change while he received a brand new one that the XJ had) and best of all, a gorgeous paint job. All I need to do now is fix the suspension that he said was inspected but not fixed. Bottom lie, buyer beware! read more

I went to the dealership and met with Tom He showed me a beautiful classic 2005 jaguar with low miles that I thought was perfect for my daughter born the same year. there were a few small items that needed attention and Tom agreed and said they would be fixed. I brought my daughter and everything looked great I was ready to buy but my daughter was a little apprehensive. While I was trying to convince her Tom listened and understood. He didn't seem to want to push her into the car as much as I did . Unfortunately (to me) we bot a more modern car but Tom is a class act and they have extremely high quality vintage and luxury cars in stock. Stay away! I bought a Porsche 911 that was described as being meticulously cared for. The engine was not rebuilt but "built" to the high standards of the previous owner who was described as a meticulous Swiss engineer that only let the car go because he was moving back to Switzerland. Turns out the engine was 5 quarts low on oil and by the time I noticed, on the second day of ownership, the damage was done. The engine had a catastrophic failure on the 4th day of ownership (3rd day driving it). A rod bearing let go. The engine modifications included a dry sump and a deep sump so the engine could hold more oil. They must have put the factory amount of oil in the vehicle without accounting for these modifications that they were aware of. The "$30,000 engine build" is toast because they have Jiffy Lube quality people servicing their vehicles and didn't even bother to check the oil level before sending me off their lot. Furthermore it turns out the meticulous previous owner did not have the engine built, the engine was built to low quality standards by someone else as I found that the name on the build sheet did not match the name on the title. It had evidence of leaking oil even though it was described as not leaking a drop (because oil level was extremely low). And there was a large aluminum weld on the cylinder head which was the reason for the previous rebuild as the chain clearly punched through the aluminum head. Keep in mind I was told the engine was not "rebuilt" as that would indicate there was something wrong when it was simply built to a higher standard with quality parts. It was not. It was built very poorly with RTV everywhere including the exhaust manifold gaskets and various o rings in the engine. My mechanic said it was clear the person who assembled that engine had no idea what he or she was doing and it was not done correctly. And about the exhaust one side had the exhaust hanger simply resting on the engine with no bolts. And even though the engine had been recently rebuilt, excuse me...built, the clutch and flywheel were in such bad shape that the dual mass flywheel pulled apart upon disassembly. It was about to let go which would have at a minimum taken the transmission out. To make a long story short this car was not in the mechanically superior to all other cars on the market as described but even so it probably would have been fine had it not been dangerously low on oil which was a direct result of the dealer yet they were unwilling to help me out. They do not stand behind the cars they sell, they have inept people performing service and they wouldn't converse with me in writing at all so there is no paper trail. These are the true sleazy car salesmen type people you are to be warned of. Take your business elsewhere. They do not know cars or worse yet they do and still sell flawed vehicles that are described as being exceptional examples worthy of paying a premium for to avoid all the issues I am now having. I am now into 10s of thousands of dollars into repairs on a vehicle that was destroyed by this dealer not knowing or caring enough to check an oil level. Just find another dealership, even if the car looks good you are probably not buying whatever they are telling you the car is. They turned out to be very untrustworthy. read more

I contacted Progressive Motors as I was interested in a Land Rover they had listed for sale. When I inquire about the legality of the Land Rover (title status as it is an import) the seller demanded that I call him (was this done in order to avoid a paper trail?) - when I declined to do so, he used a profanity at me, calling me an "Ass." A very disconcerting reaction to a simple question - I do not trust a seller that is so sensitive to questions about the legality of the vehicles he has for sale. I would highly suggest you thorougly research any vehicle he has for sale. read more

You don't have to put up with the nonsense you experience when buying at dealerships.....wasting time while the salesman speaks to the manager. Was trying to purchase the LS430 they posted . Brian called me yesterday to give me the chance to purchase the car . I told him the next day I would call by 10 to confirm and speak about payment . When I spoke to him this morning he gives me this excuse that the other guy made a payment . The descent thing to do would be to leave me a message there and then not when I reach to my bank to finalize everything.
